APROO Macro Pics... Part II.. Open Case Back
lanikai replied to lanikai's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
Thank you all !!.. All your kind and generous words Humble me !! This is my first APROO kruz ... i never got one before due to the sub dial configuration.. there are members who have almost all the models that have been released previously released.. they could answer questions regarding mods and cannabalizing parts ... much better than I.. maybe start another thread along those lines.. As far as more models... giving it a calculated "guess" I would assume it would depend on how this is recieved in the industry... "world wide".. and how sales warrant this maker investing more in product development ... or rather the collectors investing in product development ... (puchasing the genuines for replication) .. as you explained a couple years ago that Honpo started.. But I would imagine if they come out with more models too quickly it would curtail sales on these models and dilute thier profits.... then again this is just "my" take on it.. On another note .. this movement having been services well from the factory is "Proof" that what Ziggy told us "ALL" in his review of the A7750 is based on facts and his expetise and not like detractors say.. that Ziggy does these things to drum up more business .... if anyone can remember Ziggy stated that the A7750 can be just as reliable "if" serviced properly.. and all the A7750 movements that Zig has serviced for me are running spot on ... He advised me .. to just stick with the A7750 ... it's a good movement. I'm not trying to stir things up here... but the majority of us have no doubt that what Ziggy endorses has nothing to do with him manipulating anything and even more ... nothing remotely resembling "marketing" himself.. what he said has come true or "was" true from the get go.. To Clarify ... the movement is much improved.. but what is the unknown defining entity is the "Mod kit".. how good is it.. this is a new release so only time will tell ... just follow the ABC"s of the chrono movmt when setting the time and getting the watch started .. ie. using the crown to gain all the PR.. and finally I am really going to need the Horned back strap to make this work on my wrist.. thank you again ALL !!! -
I've had a few done that way.... maybe I should get a Coronet on my calf.. thank you Pug... I'm humbled by your kind words.... still need more practice... more reps of the reps
-
Hey Nikos.. good to see you participating in the threads .... sometimes the positioning of the dial is due to the movement and not error's in design .. these are things that go beyond the makers control.. but a small flaw is better than the wrong sub dial configuration IMO.. because you are in EU .. eurotimez (Chris) can service you and you will not have any customs issues. Aloha~Cheers Lani
-
Hey J.. Welcome.. the AP is from perfect clones, Joshua.. sorry I didn't get back to you .. but hopefully you will be in "house" often now .. looking forward to seeing you around ....seeing your reps !! aloha~Cheers Lani

the release of the APROO replication has made me reevaluate my passion for timepieces... specifically .. Should I consider this a valued "Timepiece" or a (genuine) fashion piece that is overstated and should be worn as one would wear a "Bracelet" ... if you are very large in limbs and stature and this piece looks apropos to your wrist .. then you would not give it a second thought.. but the average "Human" does not have the ROO in mind when thinking in terms of "timepiece" It is a XXXL size .. bulky ... not practical... and shouts out for attention... definitely not an everyday wear.. even in the corporate world.. so should this be worn as a jewelry accessory ?? ... like a night out ... dressed for the night ? should it be worn as a bracelet.. as the style is "loose "... almost falling of your wrist... Am I getting caught up in the "hype" of what's .."IN" in this era ??.. because wearing it as a watch has me looking at it not in appreciation like the vintage pieces.. but rather with the thought of "OMG that is friggin huge ,.. bulky and hilarious looking.. I'm thinking this watch needs sleeves.. so what that is saying is.. "I'm trying to justify waring it".. or maybe it's just me..today..tomorrow will be different.. what's your thought's ?? wear as a watch or a jewelrybracelet ??? Or What

OHHH.... ...................................Hey P... look .. come look at this.......
-
.. luckily I have very calloused fingers.. especially the tips of my digits.... so the first thing I did.. is grab my ear lobe... btw.. do this and you will take 90% of the heat from yor finger immediately.. re. your ear lobe is fat and sucks the heat right out of the fingers.. no you don't alternately burn your ear.. it just gets a little warm... so the callouses got a little singed but no cell damage.. thanks anyway make a lot of room for the crystal to end up where you can find it.. and there is no residue on the crystal or the mag .. so I'm thinking the adhesive to put it back must be pretty clean..
-
If I am posting this in the wrong section. ... please move me ... I thought it would be better served in the Rolex section.. thanks in advance.. Last night I removed 2 mags from crystals that I cannabalized from my reps... for chiefs "next " AR run..YES<.. he is going to be doing our mags for the GMTIIc .... there are somethings that one should be aware of if you have not done this before.. First of all I tried to use "steam" but my kettle does not produce enough pressure.. so.. I ended up using my cigar torch.. you can get this at cigar shops.. craft stores .. or little "MOM and POP" stores.. guess what else they use it for.. but i digress.. so as I held the crystal with my jewelers tweezers... I applyed the flame to the crystal on the back side of the mag... you actually need to heat the crystal up quite a bit.. in fact more than I thought..or maybe I heated it up too fast ..and too much.. And not thinking it through and "preparing" for the worst case senario.. like I alway's do with my business..."Prepare for the worst... and hope for the Best" .. is my mantra.. Well this time I didn't..... so there was a rather loud "POP" and the mag went flying off the crystal.. so the hunt was on.... long story short .. i found it.. luckily.. So learning through my blunderI took off the next one in front of my bed with all the pillows piled in the corner.. I faced the pillows and when the pop came the mag was caught with the pillows.. it was a lot easier to retrieve.. btw I did 2 for "redundency".. in case i mess the first one up... Oh one more thing.. i did not realize these crystal held HEAT for soooo long........ DON'T ASK Good Luck.. I cannot wait until the AR'd mag is on the GMTIIc !!!!!

APROO PART II It has been 24 hours since I started the PR on my ROO .. at this time it is running at the same time as my Blackberry that was used to set the time..it has been on the winder .. I'll take it off the winder and see what the PR is like.. What do we have under the "Hood" or "Bonnet" .. take your pick ..(pun intended) the hexagonal caseback has 8 screws .. it was evident that the gasket had lube or silicone sealant on it.. the makers took the time to do this.. .. the Screws are very good quality .. from the metal QC .. to thread.. it was very, very smooth .. both screwing them off and putting them back on... I am impressed by the machining on this case set.. very nice.. close up of the engraving on the inner case back.. very tiny.. I am assuming this is replicated from the genuine.. There was one HUGE thing missing.. "Noise" ... for the first time (for me) there is absolutely no friction to the rotor .. this movement has actually been serviced and oil is evident .. ya think they are starting a trend here ?? Seriously the rotor feels like a Swiss.. and the gearing "feel" like it has been serviced..it definately does not feel like past movements.. I hope this validates issues members may have... I was going to get ambitious and go deeper .. but I will save that for another time and place when I'm not so tired.. I would be prone to errors.. (and this is my timepiece ) Thanks for viewing... Aloha~Cheers Lani

that's awesome SP!!!! you have just made many members very happy !!!.. ..ye of little faith in our collectors !!Oh the shame but still wonder why no lume in the numerals / anyway.....give me an hour or so.. this case back has mo0re parts than anyother watch I've had..yikes !!!
-
Interesting as.. I put the dial up to the light (natural) and low and behold.. got the same effect as in the pics.. silver metallic on the borders of the numerals.. As you can see in this pic it is indirect light and it's "bouncing" off the borders.. easy to catch as there is no other light to deflect the only light source.. I will try to "replicat" ..(no oun intended) this type of lighting for proof.. But right now I am taking the case back off so we can see .... WHAT'S UNDER THE HOOD ... or BONNET .. as the members with the "Queens English " would refer to the "Hood" as Macro pics coming up... maybe I should post these on a seperate thread... ?? @Jakob... haven't forgotten you my Brudder.. we say Bruddah .... "Welcome" take your shoes off .. this is local "Hawaiin style Thread".. relax get nut's like the rest of us... @ricardo .. we're looking for the Black Dial ... with silver DW if that exist ..... don you know how to "host the images " or post pics.. wthere are turorials here..you can post wrist shots.. gotta go .. take macro without case back..
-
Thanks for your discretion Slay Prison "Tats" .. are done a number of way's.. the plastic checkers( as in Chess or Checkers) .. are melted and used as ink .. and a needle is used and the tip is wrapped with thread.. or home made machines...... if you are familiar with... Danny Trejo.. acted with Segall and Deniro in many Movies... his tat's are from a variety of "Federal Institutions" .. whilst he was a guest there.. very detailed and intricate.. usually they have lots and lots of time to do them
-
Wow.. if we could get even one pic that would be great SP!!.. thanks !! @MP... I'll get some measurements .. I was a bit "fryed" yesterday.. up 20 hours again .. not to athletic when I woke up at 12:30..
-
China... Jakob.. I have to run out of the coffee shop... where are you from ?? let me get home later and PM u .... how long have you been around.. get to the introduction threads.. so we all can get to know U.
-
really not fair to compare the 2... plus the AP is tall... just check out visually how tall it is..
-
thank you SD.... I have the beast on the winder.. yesterday was a bit premature to comment on the movement as you know how these A7750's can be .. very tempermental at times.. I will say the rotor is extremely quiet !!that could be because the case is as thick as a bank valut So today when I get home I will check the time to my blackberry (used that to set the time ).. and I will take off the case back and take some pics just to validate.. thanks W... I truly need a strap for this one as it will not look as huge ... the bracelet is georgeous though.. would look better with long sleeves Thanks M... you know with the gator or leather strap...you'd be able to pu;; it off.. the Chopard IMO looks bigger on the wrist because of the crystal size.. the APROO looks huge because of the bracelet.. not so much the case set.. put the two together and this AP is humungous.. @TK,, Scoobs ..Mahler.. and Anton.. Thank you all !!... and Mahler.. got a reciept man !!! but i can't show it cause this is a rep..
-
Thanks RB.. any insight about the genuine to this rep.. thanks R thank you b16 and Pam1

the clasp with the logo acts as a safety .. what looks like buttons are there to take a hold of then pull ... then you unhinge the two halves so it's a three piece lock down.. need it for all this weight
-
wow.. you thought about a whole 5 minutes.. ... not the datewheel the date window needs to be repainted black.. airbrushed.. it's silver it should be black Samu Aaron usually has my straps done done in 3 to 4 weeks.. the fastedst was 2.... shipping takes another 7 to 10 day's... he's alway's busy.. i ordered mine in advance.. alway's do.. @ten\acious.. BIG CONGRATS R ...... I just did curls on my left bicep.... serious weight on this puppy.!!!! Live Strong and Weat it Well... R -
thanks Samu... I really hope Aaron can do the hornback within 3 weeks.. I used the Nikon Macro lens ..manual settings..
-
thank you and take a look at the macro pic for the date window..it would appear that the silver piece is seperate from the dial.. this is what I has hoped for... it can be corrected.. small gamble.. thanks R.. and Congrats to you too !!! yes I noted that .. but like the comics everyone will just look at the pics... ..btw.. tomorrow will be shots of the tourbi at home in Hawaii... welcome... thank you D ... I need to take a fast pic of the bracelet... the clasp that has the AP logo acts as a safety .. it locks in place.. lift that from the clips and then you have to .. for lack of a better word.. unhinge the two halves .. .. when you take it off at night.. you don't put it down.. you "rack it" like your dumbells at the gym.. *** CHECK YOUR PINS AROUND THE CLASP MINE WAS LOOSE.. VERY TINY.. LOOSE THAT AND .. YOU KNOW THE DRILL.. CHECK ALL TINY MICO PINS ON CLASP..IN CASE YOURS WAS LIKE MINE .... A MONDAY FACTORY JOB !!!! HEHE... THANKYOU B. .. yeah I did that to illustrate the size of the bracelet.. Congrats in advance Jawo..!!! At least no one said .. you alway's get yours first.. well this proves logistics..... Richard Lawton.. must be in Asia.. Ubi.. stones throw form LA.. then me .. Hawaii.. thank you all... Live Strong and wear Them WELL>>> .

AUDEMARS PIGUET ROYAL OAK OFF SHORE Macro pictorial. Welcome,.... it has been a long wait and these are some offerings for your eye's .. I will defer the tech info ... mechanics and such to those members who will do it justice.. let's leave room for what I am sure are going to be many reviews of this piece Enjoy !! First I really need to do a comparison to illustrate size .... of course the case set is larger but look at the bracelet at the lugs... I'm not even going to bother measuring this beast !! It is quite large.. The dial.... I have not viewed the genuine in person so chime in anyone who is familiar with the details of the dial.. no hypothesis please.. I'm hoping the dial can be removed and the Date Window area can be painted black.. it looks like there is a possibility .. Canon Pin .... Swiss Markings ... looks 3d over the ticks.. Pushers... notice the beveling and contrast in the case from polished to brushed metal.. Crown.. very nice engraving.. I for one do not care at all for the hexagon shaped crown.. very irratating to me .. not functional at all.. but it looks good... Focus is on the crown guard The Case.. A little ruffness to the rubber.. The bezel screws .. this was the only one I found that was not "tight".. but you cannot see it with the naked eye.. the screws must have bolts on the inside of the case.. anyone have experience with this ?? Case Back, individual serial numbers .. Very nice looking engraving work !! So those of you who have seen or are knowledgable about this model please contribute.. to the commentary.. PLEASE do not guess or theorize ..we need to be accurate in the assesments.. please all members can participate.. but I would like FACTS from those who know.. I leave you with these parting shots... thanks for viewing.. have fun.. This timepiece seriously needs a Gator strap.. I wear my bracelets loose... I can feel my pulse when it's too tight and with this weight.. I don't need to monitor my heart rate .. the back fitrs great ...
