  5. most jewelers with have plating equipment in their shops.. if they are making jewelry .. it should not be too hard to find one.
  6. I have read in science journals.. (that you can Google) that it is not only the wrap in the process, but also the newer addition of alloy's that strengthen the gold wrap from scratching and wear and tear..and most importantly .. "oxidation" is curtailed with the newer alloys and "wrapping" My rose gold UN is still going strong..
  7. Gold "wrap" is the way to go .. it is more akin to gold leaf.. Plating will wear down .. everyone's acidity level differs and during summer months the sweat will erode the plating as will just handling the crown but in question to "plating" here are some facts as it relates to plating and some misconceptions. by US federal standards 2.5 microns is considered "heavy gold plating" without endorsing the reps and it's plating.. I have watches that are 2 to 3 years old in which the gold plating is not worn down .. both the rose gold plating and the 18k "looking" plating.. "BUT".. I do not wear these watches everyday, nor do I wear them in extremely humid and hot weather.. ergo it depends on the persons chemistry and wear and tear of the watch I do have a WM9 TT being made that exceeds the Micron level of "Heavy plating" (2.5) microns.. and is supposed to exceed the 5 micron level.. it will be close to the luxury brand plating of 20 microns.. it will be 15microns I believe..if so .. I will not have to be concerned about it ever wearing down.. There are a lot of members that wear their HBB's on a regular basis without issue.. and others who have the lesser quality plating of a few years ago in which the plating wore down.. then again you need to remember the individuals acidity level and chemistry.. a lot has to do with diet geography.. etc. hope that helps to understand "plating" AC/lani

  12. for the newer members "before" you experience the horror of having your rep fall off you wrist due to those dang loose screws, that keep coming loose.. which is a given with out reps.. So before you go all ballistic and get out the tube of superglue.. this may help.. can't hurt some have had problems with the DSSD locking clasp.. if this screw is out even a fraction of a mm your clasp will not open fully, or the worse case scenario .. the pin will fall out and your watch will plummet to the ground. Enter "Loctite", bolt and thread "fastener", not glue but to insure your threads are locked. A touch on the tip of the threads.. "less is more" Get your "Watch Bitz" red driver...screw the pin back in.. no mo issues It's a good idea to use the loctite on all the bracelet pins.. never assume they will never pop out.. and you WILL need the proper driver blades, sooner or later.. better make it sooner to have them available.. the easiest way to mess up your pins is with a crappy screw driver, the blades and the thickness of stem make a huge difference over the drug store jewelers drivers.. Go toWatch Bitz> AC/Lani
  13. How about a light solution of clorox and oxiclean in water.. maybe a 1-10 ratio..
  14. After laying in the drawer for a couple of years ..it's just nice to be able to wear it ..the lume is of course fantastic from the Zig.. so I couldn't let is waste..
  15. please excuse my rudeness.. yes,.. and with much gratitude I am using it daily and had planned to take pics with a Pam.. that is a gesture of friendship that I am reminded of daily by viewing it.. so cool thank you so very much !!!!! I've been meaning to reciprocate with something from Hawaii!!!.. just takes me awhile.. and the insert and Nato would be perfect.. I have the movement and dial and hands.. I hope I can locate a case.. and back.. AC/Lani
  16. As all of you know the blackbird was released sometime ago with much to-do .. and was somewhat of a disappointment.. in that the tabs where poorly done.. if not for those dang tabs.. my dealer sourced 2 or 3 and still no cigar.. it made it's trek up North to get the spa treatment with an SL lume.. but those tabs.. The new Black bird was released with the polished case and bracelet.. .. Ala,(Hawaiian slang, not to be confused with any Religion) .. maybe there is still hope... after refitting my serviced movement and re-lumed dial into a new set of clothes.. Hope you enjoy the pics.. imo Breitling has been known for some amount of bling.. and the new version with polished case delivers that .. if that is your thang... I just wanted a case with proper tab alignment.. if you appreciate the "Plum" look of the AR.. this one will not disappoint.. Personally next to the Blacksteel .. I think this is in my top 3 for the Breitling .. it differs from the rest of the dial selections.. may be the big date.. Regardless, I'm happy to now at least have a blackbird I can wear.. without bother from the tabs.. thanks for viewing.. AC/Lani
  17. I think MOP.. MasterOfPuppets.. holds the record for all time as the only member to go this long without a rep.. So guy's this is a travesty beyond belief.. and we gotta do something about this dilemma .. ah the misery.. so what say we start as RWG always does.. together.. and build him a rep.. I have enough parts and components to get it started anyway.. like case.. movement .. dial.. and it's probably going to be.. yup a Sub.. What say you all.. AC/Lani
  18. No.. it just means that it is pasing through customs as all international parcels from borders outside of your country needs to be.. SOP.. it should read next.. Outbound customs or something of that nature.. read the FAQ's on parcels.. I have in the GD section..
  19. I've taken a little lube oil that I got from Ofrei and applied a little the ball bearings in the rotor with very good results..i just used a toothpick to the ball bearings in the rotor..gear lube .. I cannot remember the exact name of it.. comes in a small white bottle and is thick in it's consistency..
  20. I like that sophisticated way of putting it.. that certainly is a large part of the psyche I'm sure..
  21. The rule with vet dealers is no more than 2 in one parcel.. max 3.. it does raise red flags with "certain" agents.. like anything else the vet agents go with the flow.. the newer ones we are seeing.. go by the book.. actually talking to a friend who works for Home land Security he echoed the same sentiments as my dealer.. ship 2 .. it's fine.. 3 is pushing it.. but it depends on logistics/customs..anymore than that is frowned on.. not saying that it won't get through.. but better safe than sorry..so that is the number I stick with.. as does my dealer..
  22. Big Wave riders..
  23. I secured a synchron beads of rice But I seriously need the end links to make it work bidding on the bracelet.. but gotta see how the Searambler plays out.. missed super 300T us divers for 1100 usd a bit ago..
  24. it's being fitted with a gen 2784 Tudor movement.. and a crystal ring for the gen bezel.. so all that is needed is a gen case..Ubi jokes with me about that.. but who knows.. I thought the Ploprof was common knowledge. the gen was secured some time ago for dissection..
