  1. I love these projects of yours, jmb. Great work! I suggest you engrave the caseback with "USCG", call it the "Tudor Coast Guard prototype", then sit back while Antiquorum sells it for five figures!
  2. It's a simple watch, but I would really like to see a 656 rep. I've been tempted by the Yobokies-modded Seikos, but it's not the same without the 'Sinn' on the dial.

    Waterproof?

Did that shark call you out?

    Waterproof?

I've been swimming regularly with an Explorer rep for the past year. Maybe I got lucky, but the seals were good upon receipt and have held up since then. I also have a different, $30 Explorer rep that's been similarly waterproof out of the box.
  5. Thanks! It's a DW 6263 on a vintage Tropic strap. I think I wear the Daytona on rubber about 40% of the time!
  6. Correct. If you concentrate, you should be able see the difference in beats. And if you concentrate REALLY REALLY HARD, you can make that second hand stop!
  7. The gen "Moon to Mars" is one of the ugliest special edition Speedies ever put together. In person (and you don't even have to be too close to notice), the dial looks as if someone cut pictures out of a National Geographic and glued them on. Seriously, the print quality is that grainy. And even if the quality was improved, I don't find the aesthetics especially pleasant. Give me a Gemini 4 edition, or maybe one of those new meteorite-dialed Apollo-Soyuz models, instead.
  8. Beautiful job, and I agree with your wife on folded-link bracelets!
  9. Ah, I was hoping you'd say that... The slab sides on certain Oyster reps have always bugged me, and I knew you'd be up to the task of sorting them out!
  10. "A Rolex by any other name... would be a Tudor." It looks terrific head-on, but the lugs are a bit trapezoidal in profile. Is there any way you could soften the curves?
  11. One more day with the Blancpain & mesh combo:
  12. Dave, I'm just passing along the knowledge gained from my time here at RWG. Really glad to see it all worked out in the end. Now let's see some macro shots!
  13. Looks good! Not as wide and chunky as a Paul Newman-style wristband, and it bulks up the Daytona nicely.
  14. Went for a swim today, to end the long weekend here: I guess that's, what, 1/100 of a fathom?
  15. A while back, I tried fitting a Medici on an Explorer I, and the results were not pretty. Maybe it was more to do with the sharp edges of the rep case, but I ended up scuffing up the lug ends of the strap pretty badly. And I agree with stilty: The Hirsch/Rolex combo doesn't look too hot.

    The Baron

I wonder if anyone's ever banged the side of their watch and thought, "Phew, good thing the crown guards were there to take the blow!"? Great designs (and one hell of a box)! I love that Abyssmal domed crystal!
  17. Happy anniversary! Come on up here and buy a round... Noobmariners for everyone!
