  1. Nice comparison. I believe that the rep display back that you are using is one of the worst ones made though. I've got a couple of those EnnnP ones, and they are much thinner and lighter than all my other ones. The best and thickest seem to be the EL "F" series ones which also have Sapphire crystals (yes I have a Diamond tester so I have verified that they aren't mineral ).
  2. Anybody have some pics of his finished work? Or know if he uses the same fine grain Swiss lume that Vac and Z. use?
  3. Also, what is the big chunk of Rodico being used for in that pic?
  4. That's what I love to see, the beautiful Ziggie lume work Rob, have you always been luming the subdial at "6" on the 250s people send you? I just ask because you forgot to on the one I had sent you last year. No big deal, I sold it ages ago and got an ETA7753 250 with everything lumed to replace it. I was just curious if it something that you are just starting to do now.
  5. Yes hex push button date changer shape is correct. Very surprised that they actually got that right.
  6. I used to use a bracelet link remover tool to push them back in. But after scratching a couple of CGs I switch to using a non-marring hand presser and jewellers hammer to knock it back in. Even with the hand presser though, it is a good idea to place a piece of wax paper or tape over the CG.
  7. Just do a search for CG modding, lots of tutorials around. Be careful though, very easy to scratch up the area around it. Nice CG by the way.
  8. Well if that is ....... oooohhhhh, look at the purdy lights in your banner ...
  9. I'm flabbergasted that you left out "C. I need a vacation"
  10. It looks like he just also added it to his reference section, that's all.
  11. Going into debt should only be considered when purchasing a home or when an emergency arises. Also, most "interest free" loans merely have the interest built into the price.
  12. I started a related topic a few days back, as I was considering the purchase of a gen Panerai. But after going over the responses, and trying the gen on at the AD, then borrowing a friends for a weekend, I just couldn't justify the purchase. Of course, in my case, I'm referring mainly to manual wind Panerai models, plus an auto 7750 powered few.
  13. The Toad is wise
  14. Actually when you see seconds at 9 and date, it is most likely an Asian 7750 (A7750) or ETA 7750 with the chrono parts removed. No date and wind up, then it would probably be 6497 (or its Asian copies, like the Seagull ST36). As for the "-1" and "-2" suffix, they refer to the beat of the movement, the former being low and the latter being high.
  15. In that case just look in the Panerai section and do a little research, check threads with T48 in the title....
  16. Depends upon the grit in the brick.
  17. 1cm head? Thx, screwdriver it is.
  18. There are actually three types of ScotchBrite pads that I use. The common Green one, that you can buy at most grocery stores. The slightly less common Maroon one, that is available at most auto supply outlets (it is called 3M SB 7447). And the Grey coloured ones (3M SB 7448), like what you are describing. The last two are available in boxes of 20 6" x 9" sheets for about $14 a box. Just don't forget, it must be the 3M Scotch-Brite brand, not the generic green pads a lot of stores carry (those are just nylon fibres, without the Aluminum Oxide coating).
  19. Chances are you'll be able to keep your current CG, but may have to sand down the lever a bit, as the T48 SL crowns don't have the same deep dish as his regular ones - rather shallow actually. To test it out, after you've removed your current stem and crown, just insert the T48 (without stem attached) into the case tube and re-attach the CG to see how they fit.
  20. That's what I thought. Coarse is probably Green ScotchBrite, with fine being the Maroon one (or is it the other way around?).
  21. Just had a thought, since the caseback was loose that means that it obviously was not waterproof tested. I mean every time the case back is opened, it would have to be re-greased and closed securely before it could pass the test, no? Now since there are at least two dealers who have claimed water testing along with other examinations, that have sent these models with loose casebacks, is it not safe to say that anything else they may claim to do should probably be taken with a grain of salt
  22. Those Boston Watch pads look just like the Maroon coloured 3M ScotchBrite pads, but at 20x the cost. Can anyone verify that they're just cut up 3M pads, or are they actually a different material?
  23. Thanks for the tips, I guess I'll just order a large oiler. (when I first started I only ordered the smallest ones to make sure I didn't over oil by mistake )
  24. Thanks. Anyone know of a Canadian based website where I can purchase syringes from?
