  1. Do we know yet if these bad-boys accept gen crystals?
  2. I just bought an OEM radiomir croc strap from my local AD 2 days ago and compared it to the "gen" croc strap I got with my h-factory 288.. and holy cow.. they're incredibly close. Consider the OEM straps cost anywhere from $250-320.. the rep "oem" croc might not be too shabby. I got the regular "cheap" strap with my h-factory 214 and it's a piece of crap compared to my OEM and "gen" croc straps. Huuuuge difference.
  3. The movement in the rep 214 looks nothing like the gen. For starters, it doesn't have that cool double column wheel (the blue fan thing) and there is absolutely no ornamental engraving anywhere on the rep movement. (except the rotor) The rep A7750 doesn't have a fine tune adjustment either. It's probably the cheapest A7750 I've ever seen. It doesn't bother me since I am not going to take it off and hand the watch to anybody. gen: I wish there was a rattrapante A7753 movement that could be purchased from an online store.. that would be cool.
  4. Date window is in the wrong position (too far to the right), sticker is wrong (but who cares.. just peel it off), dial isn't "starburst" effect, The bezel engravings look really rough and over textured. Mad props for the AR'ed cyclops though.

  6. I believe there are several versions that have been released. I have a new noob GMTIIc and new Sub ceramic with the same "stair step" crystal construction. The two are identical in all respects. However, I also have an older noob GMTIIc crystal with a completely different crystal side profile. If you are looking to interchange crystals.. make sure the side profile match. This is what I'm talking about... disregard the text at the top of my graphic.
  7. Looks great! You just need to AR that main crystal and cyclops!
  8. Thanks for the info, MIckey. I have two GMTIIc reps.. one (an ultimate 316F model) looks like A.. the other looks like B. I'm looking at "other options" for the crystal. I need to know what comes with the Sub Ceramic, though.
  9. Has anybody popped out the crystal from one of their new ceramic subs? I'm talking about the new ceramic sub with the so-called 1:1 case, brushed bracelet, etc. Does the crystal look like one of the two shown below? If so.. let me know! Thanks!!
  10. Does anybody have the part # for the new 2010 Submariner Ceramic crystal? I'm sure the base crystal is thicker than the GMTIIc to handle the higher depth rating.
  11. I had a 111h sourced from Sead and it came with one stripped CG screw. I thought it was the case that was stripped, but Sead said it was most likely the screws and he sent me 2 new screws. They went in perfectly.. so it seems the screws are usually the culprit. (over tightening) Try contacting your dealer for some extra CG screws and see if that works.

    DSN 025D Pics

Yep.. I'm sorta used to the rep mfgr's not getting the crown guards right. I can live with this for now.. unless a good ti CG can be found. The crystal also is a big issue for me.. and I hope the rumors are true that DSN will release an updated crystal for these soon.

    DSN 025D Pics

My 025D bezel clicks 60 times around and is bi-directional. Each click is tight/firm and it does not wiggle. It makes a healthy chunky 'click' as well. (whereas my 024A clicks 12 times bi-directional and is also pretty firm)

    DSN 025D Pics

I retained one of the DSN rubber seals and the mini seal that came with the T48. I'm pretty sure it's water tight still... but I have not formally tested it. It is so tight I cannot turn the crown with the lever closed so I think that's a good sign.
  15. I received my DSN 025D last week (along with a 24A). This one is powered by an A7750. My overall impression is that this is a great attempt by DSN. The case feels appropriately light weight and has nice sharp corners. The dial looks very nice with the hobnail finish. The hobnail finish gives the dial a little bit of sparkle and texture over the standard matte black of the 24. The dial does look glossy though in direct light. The aged tritium lume is very nice on the dial and hands (and actually glows pretty well.. possibly too well?). Unfortunately, I have unsighly lume bubbles in the bezel dot. I don't know what I'm going to do about that.. I guess a relume is in the works. The date wheel font is improved.. but still not quite up to the level of a 2Geek/Taka or Leo DW. The lugs on the case are not quite far enough out.. so it is difficult to mount thicker straps. I tried to mount a nice 'ultimate' rep panerai dive strap to mine and it was very difficult and I ended up cutting the rubber on the case edge. The crystal has no AR and the cyclops magnifies a good amount. However, the cyclops is 7mm (1mm too large) and sits slightly too far to the center. The stock Ti DSN crown was nice.. but I felt it still needed to be replaced. I installed a Ti T48 SL crown and it was very simple to do. I only had to shorten the stem just a hair. I did not have to shave down my crown guard lever. (I did have to shave down my CG lever on my 24A with T48SL, though) Keep this in mind when you see the pics below.. some have his stock crown.. some have the T48 SL crown. I actually swam in the pool the other day doing laps.. and diving down to about 9 feet and holding my breath for a while and there were no leaks and no fogging of the crystal. I installed the T crown later and saw no signs of water so these are pretty water tight out of the box. Still, I always suggest lubricating the seals prior to taking a replica under water. (even though I didn't in this case!) Pics! Stock: T48:
  16. Yup.. I've got a 25D and 24A. I'll try to post some pics later today.
  17. Yeah.. his Ti ones are slightly better. Here is my Ti T48 SL vs. DSN Ti crown:
  18. Thanks for the input on this. I might have to take my rollie apart! The tight-bezel is annoying.
  19. So, is there a way to fix the WM9 V3 bezel sticking/hard to turn issue?
  20. Any update on this DSSD bracelet?
  21. What movement would you use to replace a broken one in a Panerai 288 rep? The dealers say it's an a7750.. however the 288 features no date wheel, seconds at 9, chrono minutes at 3... and nothing at 6 o'clock. I'm looking to replace my fubar'ed chrono movement with something better. Is it a modified A7750? A7753? ?? Thanks!
  22. Thanks guys.. yeah I don't know why the gen DSSD doesn't have AR. (Okay.. yeah I know why.. can scratch.. it's a tool watch .. blah blah).. but it looks sooo nice with it on. If I had a gen DSSD and it was out of warranty.. I wouldn't hesitate to have chief AR put on it.
