  1. Good Luck ` I hope it gets there quickly for you! I just received my DSSDv5 from Chris today and I'm still dancing around it's so beautiful.
  2. AND I AM IN LOVE!!!!!! It has the ETA option, and I have to say that this is the first smooth sweep second hand I've owned since I was a child, before the popularity of Quartz killed all that. All it needs, as far as I can see right now, is two links pulled for the size of my wrist and the dry lube bike chain mod for the wristband to make it buttery smooth. It's good now but it'll be GREAT! Wristies and macros to follow as soon as I stop jumping for joy. With the problems Chris experienced concerning his QC staff, and the delays incurred by his own move from location to location it took a month to receive but the wait was well worth it. I see that as promised, he corrected the poor Pearl that the V5 initially came (it is paper white) with and re-swaged the crown on the clasp after finding many coming from the factory with loose crown emblems. HERE'S TO good Collector QC !!!! WOOO HOOOO!! Eurotimez = to me.
  3. Sorry I know nothing in-depth about IWC reps. Good luck tho.
  4. Administrators changed the link syntax board-wide a few weeks ago without contemplating the consequences and every link in every post was ruined. I assume they are working on some kind of aliasing patch fix for this as we speak!
  5. Zig is on Holiday until the end of August. I wouldn't expect him to be servicing many watches on vacation!
  6. Running constantly or not, service every 5 years. The oil in the movement becomes evaporated and gummy in that time, whether you wind it or not. At least this is what I gather from the FAQ written by our own master watchsmith, Zigmeister. Keeping your watches on winders only prevents you from having to set the time manually when you want to wear it. Nothing more.

    Top Gun

Agree: crisp case-side logo, good looking strap, and dark crown are the visible indications of a V2 here.
  8. I agree. I am not implying that this is ACTUALLY what happens, but when you have to ask the price, it makes you wonder.
  9. Very Nice! Good lighting.
  10. Higher up in this thread, it says the OP sold the watch on RepGeek and decided to NOT make any more.

    B&R strap

I saw these the other day and am considering a SS B&R just to own the STRAPS. I dont think they would look right on my black B&R ... not dark enough I guess??
  12. I have had watches take up to a month to arrive. If you ordered from a dealer here, then do not worry. Just relax and it'll arrive. EMS is terrible about updating their tracking. Normally you only see it via the EMS number at the USPS site once it's handed over to the US Postal Service. Not on EMS site at all.
  13. A lot of people give jewelry store / watch merchant employees WAY too much credit. Do you think people who work at McDonalds can name every kind of cow from memory? They are everyday slobs who work for a meager base salary plus commission then go out every Friday night and get drunk / laid, just like every other underpaid 20-something or 30-something who's made a LOT of bad life choices in the Universe. Their sole talent is being good at making you buy something you are unsure you want. That's a salesman. People here are watch geeks. Like certain people are Star Trek geeks. Even people who were IN Star Trek don't know more about the show than ST geeks ... you are the ST geek of the watch universe.
  14. It's my understanding that ETA itself has factories in China, as well as Europe. ETA makes movements in China. As I understand it, that is how some Chinese people learn to be great rep workers/makers; by working for ETA in China, and then striking out on their own. Are you certain that what you purchased is not an Asian ETA movement, and not a total replica movement?
  15. Lets look at the page you provided... a Patek complications watch in WHITE GOLD with crocodile strap, and a operational power reserve for $208 USD. On top of that, they use a photo of a Gen watch for their page, not a picture of the replica. That makes 4 problems I can find here, and Im a total newb.
  16. 31 jewels?? Are there 6 extra rolling around free in the case? Like a Happy Sport!?
  17. Well I have to admit that all APs look exactly alike to me. Where is the hand-worked mod plate in this photo??
  18. Well ... with a 10 second exposure, as the EXIF data reveals, a faint lume can appear to be brilliant. There's no way to tell without a side-by-side comparison.
  19. Chris made no secret out of the fact that his QC people were totally asleep at the switch, letting bad watches by for a while. He says he fired them all, and has also moved his location in the past couple of weeks. Very busy. Anyway, I heard from him today about my DSSD and received a tracking number for it, so he's moving ahead with business, and getting things back on track. Im looking forward to this watch! Yummmmmmm
  20. It's a Global business. Maybe Asian customers would love this ... thing. Taste is different all over.
  21. You MIGHT be right there ... it's prolly been 35 years since I last heard that story.
  22. No, that's a myth. The real value of good lume is that it glows enough for pilots and divers to see. They can and do work in darkness. REAL darkness, not your car at night or your bedroom. In that kind of darkness, quality lume glows enough to see for a very long time.
  23. My father used to tell me a story about the women who worked with tritium paint in watch factories located near him when he was a boy. The women would sharpen their paint brushes to a fine point by licking them over and over as they hand-painted the numerals. Eventually all their teeth would fall out. That's why you can't have a self-luminating watch face.
  24. Oh my ... the Limited Edition serial number of 0001/5007 says it all ;/
