sorry to go a bit o/t and reply to an older post, but i'm thinking you guys will be able to make my decision for me off the top of your heads! for a "bond sub" with an 8mm brevet crown, which should be used? "brevet" with a "+" underneath it, or "brevet" with a coronet above it?.. im a bit confused as to which one would be right (and yes i know there are a few bond-sub variants ) hope you can help ben

thanks for the confirmation; i just need to get a bracelet now then as i have everything else (movement already has a white/black datewheel

thanks for the replies guys, i will get a white one with black numberals.. i wasn't sure ift it would be different as its a black face, but i guess this is correct as its a stainless body with a white gold fluted bezel.. are there any open 6/9 datewheels available or are these rare as rockinghorse s**t now? i don't really want to take it to bits several times, as its a present.. as its not required for a few months i have some time if they will be available again or one might come up.. thanks again for your insight! ben

can anyone tell me what is the correct datewheel type/colour for a 16013 im 1/2 way through building my first franken and before i put the movement, dial and hands together i'd like to get the right datewheel in there.. also if anyone can point me towards a good source of an overlay or complete replacement wheel that would be great; will be using an ETA 2893 movement

couple of pics of the watch; its not the most accurate thing in the world by any stretch, however i really liked it and all the hard to do (for me) internal modding had been done so snapped it up! as you can see the the bezel is a standard sub type, plus the crown is a wider standard one which has been cut down to make it thinner/sit closer to the case, however i'd like to stick an 8mm brevet crown and tube on there if i can find one pics stolen from neckyzips; i have no skills in the photography department whatsoever

thats some great info guys.. i was actually considering making one myself, but looking at it you might be right; the coin edge is not very deep nad not very wide so it might be that i can machine the bezel i already have.. i'm not 100% sure what the case is as its a watch i brought semi-modded from neckyzips and its not arrived yet i will wait until it gets here and take a look, but the two things i'd really like to do are put a coin edge bezel on, and change out the crown for a brevet one.. i thought i had the crown and tube covered with a DSN one, but when i spoke to him this morning its a panerai crown and not a rolex one so i don't think its any good.. back to the drawing board!!.. b

yes thats basically what im looking for, but i really only want the bezel as the case is nice and aged. I will have to take a look once the watch arrives and see what the bezel arrangement is and hat might work, otherwise i will have to consider making my own i guess..

im looking for a coin edge bezel assembly for a cg-less sub project, but i can't find any references to one existing.. i gues its a pretty niche thing, but wondered if any one knows of a rep bezel whihc might do the job (i can't afford a gen ) thanks in advance ben

thanks thats all good info, esp the cannon pin height; i seem to remember this has been discussed elsewhere when someone upgraded to a different (better) eta movemement and a tall cannon pin was an issue.. would be very interested in that case in a chinese / seagul / asian / whatever eta2824 copy whcih i guess should be more-or-less a swapsie

i've got a totally trashed UPO which i brought to rob the dial and bezel from for another UPO thats working fine.. unfortunately my rolex beater is trashed (got completely wiped out when i got dragged into a lake by one of the dogs this weekend) so im looking to replace it with a UPO beater the crown/tube was stripped so i've replaced with gen parts (pretty swish for a beater ) and brought a cheap sharkproof bracelet from strapcode. all i need now is a movement so i can put it back together (the movement in this watch was robbed for something else) I've been looking around and i can't justify 150-200 for a gen 2824 movement, but i can't find any alternatives for sale anywhere.. i've shortlisted sellita sw200 or a seagull/chinese eta copy as cheap alternatives however i can't find prices or anywhere i could buy either to complete this beater.. if anyone can help i'd appreciate it; pref in the EU but don't mind waiting if it needs to come from elsewhere.. thanks in advance ben ps.. i have datewheel, hands, dial, movement ring, etc, so if it was a direct replacement for the 2824 that was in there that would be simplest for me pps.. eurotimez has a dg highbeat movement which swaps into their cheaper rolex reps, but not sure if this would be suitable as a 2824 replacement? they're readilly available and well within "beater price-range"!

i can't wait for this to come out, but i think i will wait for the v5 ultimate 1:1 with correct indicies and right colour lume, etc., etc., version in about 4 years also there willl always be a part of me thats "making do" qwith the 1200m ploprof, as i'd really REALLY like an oldie one with the blue dial, but i fear there's no chance of that happening

im building a franken datejust and need a bracelet to finish it off.. i have been looking around at gen bracelets as i always feel the end-links and clasp can be a bit of a give-away, esp with cheaper aftermarket bracelets. it seems gen s/s bracelets are not too expensive however i was considering a ss/gold bracelet for this watch as it has a nice black dial with gold bars and markings. unfortunately gen TT straps are much more expensive so i was wondering if there is a good source out there for aftermarket ones? the other option i thought of might be to use an aftermarket bracelet with gen clasp and end links? any help appreciated; i've only ever brought one bracelet (a cheap shark-proof mesh from strapcode) which was a sucess but im a bit nervous of spending $100+ on one that might be terrible! b

just found this review of a gen; very interesting and great photos; shows the crown system too (which is why i initially read it) possibly useful for comparisons once the rep arrives.. clicky i really hope they hit this one on the head straight out the box, and we don't end up with 5 or 6 versions like some other diver watches before we get something accurate but then there's a synical side to me that thinks "hy would they.." here's hoping! b

so the round wheel is actually the crown on this watch?.. thats a shame; i always through the linear crown movement into the seals was a clever system (similar to a panerai) versus screwing into the seal.. (spot the hydraulic system designer )
-
what can i say; i saw a group of asian girls with sinn written over their chests and i just had to share when you tried on the gen did you notice the crown/guard at all? on the old ploprof you turn the "crown" which slides a square section of the "crown-guard" to the outside of the "crown" outwards from the case.. this square piece is actually the crown, and not the round wheel which looks like the crown.. from the images ive seen of the 1200m the guard piece around the crown wheel looks solid, like say a panerai without the lever, with the crown wheel almost fully inside it you can maybe see what i mean about the square section of the "crown guard" in the photo below..

love this watch, but would much prefer a good rep of the original.. does the new version have the clever crown system of the original? I thought it jhust had a standard crown with a guard over the top of it?.. if it does have the correct screw out crown like the old one then it's just gone up in my list about 10x gimme-gimme

i have stone from an old broch of my grandmothers which will never get worn, and i was wondering how easy/hard it might be to turn this nto a ring using a blank?.. doe anyone have any experience doing this or can point me in the right direction to figure out how to do it?.. as you can buy sized blanks (for stone and finger) im thinking it should be a case of buying the right blank, putting the stone in place and folding the legs over to retain?.. if anyone knows anything about doing this or what tools might be required i'd be really greatful of some pointers

im confused; the images all show U1 on the dial; is the image in the first post and the link to more images the U1 black or the u back?.. i really like these sinn rep's but i've held off buying one for a while.. rreally liking the all back one in the images though so this might just tip the balance and force me to get my wallet out

any pointers for where to get a decent j12? im after one like mrs ubi's for my girlfriend but i brought one from one of our "trusted dealers" and it had a string of things wrong with it.. when i emailed to say there were issues with it i was told its an old rep, you get what you're given and that was that... i know im a newbie but anyway, i've fixed up a few things but would like to get a replacement one which is right to start with; the scratch on the rehault is not something i can fix and the missing clasp pin i replaced with a spare pin from somewhere else doesn't really work properly any help appreciated b ps.. she's after the girl size quartz rather than the unisex auto

personally i'd insure for the full amount otherwise you will only be able to claim the customs declaration amount.. using the "return from repair" statement would be the best (and safest) way to get around the charges, HOWEVER this doesn't work too well if the watch is being sent complete with paperwork, certificates, boxes, etc..

absolutely stunning!.. incredible work

thanks for the info guys, will tell him to get the case open!

quick question for you knowledgable folk.. can you throw any light on this piece? any information really appreciated, a friend got it from his grandfather, but has been told its a fake, however im not convinced.. if you can throw any light on it re: rep, gen, what model, movement, etc., that would be great.. dont have any movement pictures but might be able to get some thanks in advance b

i've never really taken much notice of the ingenieur's before, but they're REALLY growing on me at the moment!
