ETA 7750 will fit the case, but the subdial and center seconds hands will need to be modified to fit the pinions. For purchasing, try Cousins UK. They may have some Swiss ETAs in stock.

Fosi, Hugo, I think the graphite treatment should work fine I do believe Domi can handle this, but you may want to see if a DLC option is available as well. If you can send just the movement plates to the U.S., check with Avitt to see if he can have them coated for you. I'm not sure if PVD has the same effect, but if so, there may even be some EU options there as well. In my eyes, this watch is a gorgeous piece no matter which movement you have inside the case (well, maybe not the quartz movement ); since the caseback is closed, the primary concern is that you have a reliable movement powering the watch. Gen movement or modified A7750 should do the trick Best of luck... //ubi

If a genuine movement is not an option for you, you may just need to purchase the rep and have it sent out for an overhaul and graphite mod. I don't know of any dealers offering this service or option from the factory. Maybe see if Domi can do the work? I'm certain he can. Or, save up and ask concepta to get a gen movement franken built Believe me, it's worth the money... And a couple of pics of it's build in progress (thanks to Domi and concepta): A few more mods to go before I can call this one done, but it's getting there...

Favorite watch brand for a particular profession?

Why, diligent and relentless commitment to viewing such material just to be able to post such sightings in threads such as this, but of course! BTW, wifey of wifey's world is always sporting something awesome on her wrist (and I'm not talking 'pearl' bracelets either!) -
Awwww, shucks, guys I think that sharing, giving and helping is the basis of the community; every day I witness folks helping each other, and I'm just glad to be a part of it. I myself have been the recipient of many a kind act as well, so it's a pleasure to give back when and where I am able to (both on forum and in every day life). Let's all keep the good stuff rolling; helping one another is what keeps the good karma perpetuating

PM me your addy and I'll get this out to you... Cheers, R

Hmmm... A gen 16750 would definitely be a good option; the 1675 is a gorgeous piece, but man, that slow set date and tiny 5.3mm crown can make setting the date tough on the fingertips, especially if it's the 31st day of the month, and your watch is set to the 9th (and you really don't want to wait for the calendar day to sync up with your watch) The charm of the 1675/16750 is really something else, though. These pieces, especially with a little patina have a ton of character that really differs quite a lot from the other Rolex Sports of this era... It's sporty, yet wears almost elegantly due to it's thin case. I definitely gotta say that gen is the way to go...

Andy, The dial above is a redial/aftermarket; it's decent, but visually not quite as accurate as a gen: None the less, I'd be glad to gift the redial to you if you're able to put it to good use

Andy... If you can get the 21j Asian Daytona with faux subdial counters, maybe we can get this dial to work for you

Quick Build Help, Securing Dial To 7750 Movement
ubiquitous replied to HEWLIO's topic in The Rolex Area
With the dial seated, simply press those hooks/clamps into the movement. They will seat against the dial feet and hold it in place. -
I would suggest wearing and observing a new purchase for a small period of time- Say, perhaps 3 or so weeks. If the movement exhibits problems like poor time keeping in egregious amounts (e.g. you're losing 10 minutes an hour), has a short power reserve (after a full wind, the watch only runs for a few minutes or hours), or there are other problems like hands rubbing (causing the movement to stop), chronograph subdials or counters that don't zero out, etc. it may be in your best interest to have the movement addressed. If your watch is losing a few seconds per hour with decent power reserve, I'd recommend wearing for a few weeks to see how the movement adapts to your wearing patterns; watches will behave differently depending on how it's positioned over the course of a day on your wrist, overnight while on the night stand, etc. You may find that over a few days/weeks, time keeping may improve or decrease based on your wearing habits. At this point, you can get the movement timed and regulated by a skilled and knowledgable watch repair technician. The beat/timing of a watch can also tell you a lot about the condition of the watch as well (the knowledgable watchsmith should be able to elaborate on that depending on what's observed). I should also add that some loss of time is perfectly acceptable; if you are within COSC specs (10 secs per day; +6, -4), that is really GREAT time keeping. If it's close to these specifications, that's still very good, and nothing to worry about. Good luck!

In that case, I'd reiterate dluddy's response; a properly serviced movement will provide the best results, be it Asian or Swiss. Depending on which movement you have, however, parts supply may or may not be an issue, which will have an influence on longevity; Swiss ETA movements like the 2824/2836/2892 et all have been around for a long time, and there are plenty of parts out there (and supply will continue into the future). Certain Asian movements may be a little more difficult to obtain parts for, and Swiss parts may not be fully interchangable/compatible. Therefore, my personal pref is Swiss ETA (but that's just me).

Well, the stem for the ETA 282x/283x/284x/289x and Rolex 3135 are both the same in terms of diameter (Tap 10; 0.90mm); it's the boss at the end that differs. That crown should thread onto that stem snugly; if you cannot engage the threads, measure the hole. If it is 1.20mm, you have a crown for a Tap 6 size stem (at which point, I would question the authenticity of the crown).

Planet Ocean Scandal: PO Owners Using Prostitutes?

The side benefit is that the 'wrist action' will also keep the watch wound... -
deniz- Don't let this discourage you- Indeed, this is not the best of situations, but hopefully your dealer will make it right for you. As an aside- This is where learning to work with watches can really be of benefit. I'm not saying or implying that you should accept poor examples of watches shipped by dealers, but in some cases, small problem details can be fixed, and without having to send the watch back or wait for a replacement/refund. In this case, the dial is not acceptable, but the crystal can be re-seated at least. And, perhaps a replacement dial could be procurred. Rough start with this one; good thing you have the PO to fall back on! BTW, you have a PM

Give the collar of the hand a very slight squeeze. Ideally, a collet is the tool to use as it applies even pressure along the entire collar, but I know not everyone has one (I know I don't). You can use something like a pair of smooth needle nose pliers, but be very, very careful in doing so. You likely don't need much pressure at all to tighten the hand if it's already fitting the pinion well enough to hold it on...
-
Did you remove the dial at all? Sounds like the minute pinion is shifting up/down; there's usually a small, thin curved washer that sits between the pinion base and dial to keep it from moving. Either that, or the hand is loose and needs to be tightened up.
