On occassion, I like to pick up the truly bad... It's almost more fun collecting the terrible junk for sake of having it
And of course... My self made frankenstein...
Hmmmm... Not sure I follow, exactly.
For what it's worth, the watch in both the original post (eBay) and the TZ link are genuines. The details tell all
Yep... That's what I thought as well. They advised NOT to use their own brand of cleaners... Said it would cause discoloration in the leather. Of course, for their smooth surface leather, the cleaner/conditioner is fine. But for the pebbel grain... Forget it.
The hour markers/indicies are similar to the nippled markers a la vintage gold and TT dials (like 1680/8's, 1675's, etc). They should look like this (except white metal, instead of gold)...
FWIW, the blue and steel was done as an older 1680 ca. 1970's prod. Very limited numbers, and not heavily documented. There is also a blue 1680/8 in 18k YG that exists with the blue dial/insert as well.
Oops! I guess the fact that I breezed over the description is apparent now
I must admit... I only looked at the bottom blurb where he states in blue about the shipping to Italy (my browser was and interest was more focused with the picture... Damn my ADD!)
Just out of curiosity, how easy/difficult are these to clean? My wife has some pebble grain Coach bags, and they (Coach Dealer) have advised not to use any sort of leather cleaner or conditioner on them.
Definitely interested in these... Price is not a huge deal to me. But, real world, every day usability is... Along with keeping the bag looking nice...
Been there, done that. Didn't like the way the movements fit the case, so for me, the ETA is the better solution. YMMV.
For the record; 1570/5's originally came with the silver brushed datewheels, but are often replaced with white datewheels during service. So, technically, either color is correct.
I always thought the old style tube with the fluted splines inside the tube's base was the better design (vs the ones with the splines at the opening).
Good stuff!
