  1. Knock on wood... Have not broken a single one, have never tapped (exception being my DW, which Ziggy did for me) and I don't have the Rolex tool, either.
  2. Unfortunately, I think the only way to put this one to bed is to physically try it. Just don't know if it will work until you know. One of the reasons why my parts box has accumulated so much stuff... Lots of trial and error. I've learned, however, that some of the items that didn't work out the first time around sometimes work down the road. Just never know when a certain part may come in handy. One of the reasons why I don't throw anything away anymore as well
  3. I think the Nauti's repulsiveness is what makes it attractive... Dunno what it is about it... But I love this one.
  4. Whose tube did you use, J? Some are longer than others... Which may explain why the tube broke in the first place...
  5. Don't get me wrong at all... Your 1665 is extraordinary! Very well done... Excellet execution, and overall one of the best, if not the best. There is no doubt about it. You hit it spot on... If you love the watch, that's what matters. We do what we do because we enjoy it...
  6. Does look like modern font, but I should also note that genuine vintage datewheels for 15xx movements had a closed 6 on '26' while all the other 6's and 9's were open. J- Nice 1665! Looking sharp!

  8. Of the 2 genuine MKIV's that I've looked at this year, the printing dots are very apparent, especially in the dept rating. Hold it up in the light, and the dots are even more pronounced. You don't need a loupe to see it... But, at the end of the day, I suppose there's one final question to it all: who cares? It's a rep dial... Never going to be spot on to genuine. Even if it was identical in terms of font, printing, etc, there are other tells, such as age that can't be replicated. That said, the rep dial has to please you, first and foremost. If it's acceptable with the flaws in your eyes, then that's all that should matter. The dial isn't anywhere close in my eyes, so I opt not to have it. Bottom line... Choose what you like. It's your watch... Not mine. Except for the Single Red SD... But that's a whole 'nother story....
  9. Shape of the SEL is also important. Most are too big- Specifically, the outer ends of the SEL, and how they fit within the lugs. They should look like this-
  10. Hmmm... Perhaps a Jos or TWG special?
  11. Agree completely. The old 2pc. endlinks are my preference as well..
  12. I do work in Telecom... One of the largest CLECs in the U.S. So, for me to be without a cellular phone seems strange to my colleagues as well. I must say, however, that when I got rid of my phone (and opted against getting a Blackberry), I didn't feel any great loss. On those rare times when I do go on vacations with my family, I'm never bothered... Which is fine by me!
  13. Not always... Have some 3pc. SELs on my 16610 frankenstein... Bracelet was taken from a 21j Asian Sub (along with the dial, caseback, etc).
  14. Well, up till now, I've always just paid everything (except for the homes and most cars) with cash. if I didn't have the money, I wasn't getting it When I travel, I use my corporate card (AmEx), as if I'm going anywhere, it's usually for work. So, the card would be only for emergencies- Nothing more. That being the case, I'll take the advice of looking at the card's 'perks' as well as fine print into consideration when looking at the different cards/services offered. No Annual Fee was one of the things I've been looking out for Wife and I have mid to high 700 FICO scores, so credit is pretty good for a couple of 'kids' who have only carried mortgages and car payments I suppose. Not really concerned about building credit, per se, but it would be nice to bump our score higher. Something else to blow your mind... I haven't owned a cell phone in 4 years Kinda funny, I suppose. just never needed it. Wife is always home, office is 5 minutes away and if I do go anywhere it's always with her and the kids (and she has her phone). If I travel, I just borrow it from the wife. Just goes to show how behind the times Ubi is...
  15. That's right. I feel a little silly admitting it, but 29 years, and I've not had an actual credit card to date (don't laugh, and the corporate card doesn't count, by the way). Never had the need for it, but the Mrs. and I were discussing, and we both agree that it might be a good idea just to have one for emergencies. So... I've been looking around, and all I see are 0% interest offers for the first xx months, and then a sharp hike to 12.x%. Is that right? Please bear in mind... I am a cc noob. No idea what constitutes as a good APR; never had to consider it! Wife and I have excellent credit, little debt (one house and one car, down from 2 houses and 3 cars)... So, just looking for a little BT from those brain trustees that can give me a quick scoop on what to look for Thanks in advance, R
  16. Looks great! Putting that new workshop/lab to some good use, I see!
  17. I've seen individuals make their own... Members finepics and oswald immediately come to mind...
