The rotor and bridge aren't a big deal to me; since they're hidden behind a caseback, I can't enjoy looking at them
Since I build these for my personal enjoyment, these hidden details are not a priority. If one should come up (as they sometimes do), then I may consider getting one if at the right price, but I think that money is better spent on other items that I could put to better use...
Thanks, gang. These things are just so much fun to make, that I thought I'd start over again with a white dial
Hopefully this one won't take a year to complete (unlike the black dialed one).
From left to right:
-El Primero project #2 (now with white dial)
-El Primero project #1
-DW 6265 with Swiss Valjoux 23 transplanted and other mods
-MBW 1665 modified with genuine parts
-Frankenstein 16610 modified with TWG 21j Sub and genuine parts
-Modded 16622 YM
Not to mention that a genuine 16600 Sea-Dweller has a crystal that is almost 1mm smaller in diameter than a 16610's! If the 16610's rep case is being used for the rep SD, then the crystal and bezel insert diameters will also be a noticable 'tell'. 1mm may not sound like much, but when you're dealing with something as small as a watch, it makes a difference.
That's what I did... 21j dial, bracelet and gen crown/tube, gen insert, etc...
This is going to be a great project HD... The results should be top notch!
Euno-
For your 5513, you'll need either a 242/24-700 (if it's a twinlock) or a 242/24-702 for a Triplock signed crown/tube missing external gasket.
For your 1675, a 6mm 24-533 should suffice?
I recently installed a davidsen plexi on my 3646 hommage, which is based on a standard 183 rep case. Changing out crystals was easy- Simply pressed out my old sapphire in my press and pressed the new plexi in with the gasket fitted. Took all of 3 minutes.
Nice, Flo! I'm sure you'd be at 3k by now if you weren't studying all the time
With that said, I'm glad to see your count at 'only' 1,000...
Here's to another!
Indeed... I'm quite surprised that there aren't any true 1:1 replications of this one; seeing as how it's genuiine counterpart's popularity has been gaining considerably over the past few years, I'd think this would be on the list somewhere...
I can buy a franken with genuine 1575 for a couple thousand dollars, but to me, it would be much more fun to build one.
Euno- Nice to see you too, my friend! Hope you have been doing well
