  1. What are you trying to retrofit the movement in? Vintage Daytona case? or some other sort of chronograph watch?

A couple of items to note-

-Pusher spacing as Euno mentioned. The V72/V23's reset pusher is much more offset than the start/stop. You can probably fabricate something to work, but it's something to consider.

-Subdial spacing. The subdials may be slightly different.

-Hands for the 'copy' V72/V23 may be a difficult thing to source. Hands for an actual V72, I believe, are not a direct fit on the copy.

-Actual fitting of the movement- The stem hole may not line up correctly in the case the venus was in. It might require a spacer, or modification of the case to get alignment correct.

-Reliability- The Copy V72/V23 is sometimes a crap shoot. Just never know how good/bad it might be.

Of course, if the price is sub $50, it would be worth getting. Any more than that, and it might not be cost effective.

    Just my $0.02...

    Best,

    Randy

  2. For me- and maybe I have ADD, or some similar disorder- hobbies only stay interesting as long as there's something to do. That's why I dabble in replicas and modding. The fun and excitement of tracking down rare, hard to find genuine parts, or building something to emulate/replicate/clone keeps me busy, and I'm constantly thinking of where/when/how I'm going to find that next odd, unusually rare part, or whatever. This keeps me busy, and keeps my interest piqued. When I had genuines, it was a case of- Go to the AD, haggle a bit about a measly 10% discount, buy it, wear it, forget about it and/or become bored with it. It was just never any fun for me.

I consider this a fun, creative little hobby- Lots to do, see, learn and experience. Lots of hands on interaction with modding, and lots of great people to share ideas, discuss and brainstorm with. For me... This is what makes this hobby the best.

  3. Thanks, gang!

Well, I went ahead and stuck with my usual daily wearer- The 1665. It always feels comfortable and familiar, so making a decision is usually quite easy- The Sea-Dweller typically wins out :)

With regards to the Sea-Dweller's dial markers- The entire dial has been replaced. I had one printed up earlier this year (same with my Tudor 7928).

    :)

    Happy Easter!!

  4. Legit? Most definitely not. It's a reproduction/aftermarket/replication... Whatever you want to call it, but certainly not legit. It is flawed like crazy, and nothing at all like a genuine. I am sure the bidding only got as high as it did because of shill bidding- The fact that the auction listing was kept private only further strengthens my suspiscion. I wouldn't be suprised if the item was not actually sold to anyone- Chances are, the winning bidder is actually the seller.

  5. Only thing is... Toni's (torresp's) 116520 doesn't have a crappy 'Asian movement' in it... Rather, it has a Swiss movement.... That came from a place in Geneve called Rolex. That's a genuine 4130 in that watch... And the watch also happens to be 100% genuine.
