Have purchased a few items from him. Good stuff.

The non-exotic dials are my preference. The PN's just seem too busy to my taste.

I think the Euno 1675 already exists! At least it does in my mind...

Fascinating post! Very intriguing

Funny how names become associated to things... McQueen 1665, Clapton 1680... PN Daytona. What's even funnier is how many of these associations are incorrect. Mr. Newman, as you mentioned above, wears his black 6263 plain dial, Steve McQueen wore a 5513, and Mr. Clapton...? I've seen a number of different Rolex on his wrist, so I don't know how that one was started (though I believe I had heard that this one was a result of one of his personal red 1680's having sold for a record amount- Is this enough to tie someone's name to in order to create some sort of cache for the brand?).
What's next? The Nanuq 6536?

My parts guy gets some IWC parts in from time to time. Though, it's mostly crowns and the sort. I can ask about straps and deployants...
-
A great topic of debate and controversy!
The collectors and dealers believe it's the 39 and 41- The movie has nothing to do with it. The true epitome of 'PN' is the very first cosmograph with exotic dial (2 and 3 color variations), pump pushers, etc. The later models with screw down crowns with exotical dial are still called PN, but not the 'true' PN in collector and enthusiasts' eyes.
-
True PN's are the 6239's and 6241's with pump pushers, twin lock, and exotic dial (two or three color variants).

I think Ziggy's had a change of heart with the new 7750's- Vast improvements have been made, and he has noted an overall improvement in their construction, build and parts quality.
But if it's relating to which is better for a vintage Daytona... I'd take neither. I'll stick with my finicky, unreliable V23 copy movement
It might be unreliable, but it's more 'correct' for the watch in terms of appearance and character.
*shrug*
Heh... Just read Zig's latest post on the Asian 7750's.... I stand corrected!
-
Agree 100%. This one of mine is hanging on by just a few threads-
Damn screw down crowns!

I concur with Kruzer. With Swiss 7750's being of reasonable cost, and Ziggy's excellent service rates, I would rather go the route of getting my own movement retrofit into my case. At least this way, you KNOW that the movement inside is Swiss! And with servicing from Ziggy, you know you're good to go for the first 5 years

If Tony Soprano likes Kobold, then you should too.
...Or else...!!

It is a Swiss lemania or a Chinese copy of the lemania?
It's the Chinese Venus (not Lemania).
-
All very nice, Andrew! I must say... It's quite nice to see some other brands getting some love these days (not just Panerai and Polex).
-
IIRC, this one from EL is non-screw down. He initially had this one about a year and a half ago, and I believe I remember him saying it wasn't screw down...
-
Had a look into the '7760', and, just as ziggy mentioned above, the movement is simply a 7750 without a rotor. That means incorrect subdial spacing, and too high of a beat rate. Probably a very nice watch none the less, but one I'll probably not inquire on with DW.
-
I've had it- Nice watch overall, but it has some flaws. Just a quick few from memory-
-20mm lugs (should be 19mm)
-Symmetric pusher spacing
-Pushers do not actually screw down (but have the appearance of being screw down)
-Bezel is incorrect
There are a few more, but you get the point.
Still, a nice watch, and the Venus inside is indeed a true work horse!
Of course, my favorite 'out-of-the-box' rep is still the DW with the V23 copy movement. Sure, the 6:00 is frozen, and doesn't work, but unlike the 7750, the mystery copy movement has correct subdial spacing, and beats slower (21600bph), which is closer to genuine (19800bph).
The ultimate, however would be a 6263 built from a case kit using a true V72

I have always loved the tourbillon... And especially these chinese made ones, as they are an affordable means to have an interesting complication. However, I've always been a little cautious about the movement and it's reliability. But, I just might give one a try. Maybe, just maybe.
That, and I have always wondered in what situation I might wear such an extravagant piece? For someone who's daily wardrobe consists of faded jeans and untucked Ralph Lauren Polos, I don't know that the watch would mesh well with my attire

Hmmmm... Very interesting. 7760... Time to do some research
-
can yuo imagine if admin selected Scott Hawkins??
Ahhhh... I wasn't sure if I had misread that or not
Bet you were wondering how many people would catch that one, eh??
-
Ohhhh yeahhh, that's a sweet strap! I can't wait to see pics of the watch in question!
To be honest, I'm kind of hesitant to even wear this strap. It's NOS, never worn, not a crease on it... Don't know that I could ever find another
So... I'm trying to find another PVD buckled Dirky.
-
Yikes!! Regardless who they were from, I'd be pretty bent out of shape about that!
When did Don start offering straps with sewn in buckles?
Do you send your new reps in for movement servicing?

The only watches I've had serviced are my DW's- One was purchased pre-serviced, and the other was one I sent directly to RG.
On my 2836-2 based MBW vintages, I tend to swap the movements out with slower beat ETAs to better emulate the 19800bph Rolex 1570/5 calibers. Since my replacement movements are brand new, I'll wait to service those.
