This doesn't surprise me for a few reasons: First, when you buy a watch from a dealer more often than not there is not much QC when it leaves the factory, so your watch could have a number of problems (misaligned date window, crooked logo, bad movement just to name of few). It then could take weeks to straighten it out with a dealer. When you buy from another member, they "should" disclose any of the problems and post pics... so you can see the exact watch you are getting instead of a generic photo. Second, if you buy from a member in your own country, all the customs risk has been avoided... a problem that plauges many of our members. In some cases it might be worth it to some people to pay a little more for a used watch than normal if they know it won't be taken at customs. Finally, price. We have all seen the general trend that the prices of these reps are going in. If you can pick up the exact watch you want for a $100 or so cheaper with any potential issues disclosed and no customs risk... seems like a no brainer to me.... EDIT: btw I wouldn't necessarily call it "over changing"... people are willing to pay for peace of mind... myself included

should I only be polishing the mid links???
-
Ended up going with a 4th Gen orange PO from Josh... LOVE IT... LOVE IT!!!! I will try and post some pics tomorrow. My only question is that I want to get it nice and shinny... will a cape cod cloth work??? Can all the links be polished with it or just the mid links??? Can the case (sides and back) be polished too???

can someone give me some pointers on how to "open it up" as well as what you used to clean the markers.... thanks!!!

Hey all. I was thinking of adding a watch with some diamonds. I am looking for one that has diamonds on the hour markers only (no diamond bezel or diamond band). Besides the obvious DayDates and DateJust, does any one have any suggestions??? Much appreciated!!!
-
Did you open it yourself or did you have a watchsmith do it? If it isn't too difficult I would like to try it myself. Any tips or pointers?

So I was looking at my Tag Chrono yesterday (order from Trusty last Fall, fully serviced and waterproofed) and upon close examination I see what appear to be water spots on some of the dial (hour markers) . The dial and inside of the crystal are fine. Even thought I had this watched waterproofed I have never gone swimming with it or even showered with it. The best way I can describe it is that they look like the water spots that can get on your car after you have it washed. Anyone have a similar experience... or more importantly, how do I get them off!?!?!? Thanks!

I'm hoping someone can answer this. I email Josh and asked him if I could get the strap I wanted (see above) for a 4th Gen PO and here was his response: Hi, The 42mm watch with leather is made in 1. bad quality leather strap 2. Wrong leather of strap .. It is very difficult to wear comfortably.. the clasp ends up on the side of the hand.. I also emailed Silix but he said he had one that would fit. I then circled back and looked at the UPO and noticed one of the features is "Correct Lug Width 22mm" So my questions is... is the lung width on the 4th Gen PO messed up or something... or should it be able to take 20mm straps??? I really want the Orange 4th gen PO with the black strap and orange stiching!!!

Does anyone know if you can get this strap for a 4th Gen Orange PO (42mm) and if so where??? I have only seen it for the 45mm version... Thanks!!
-
where did you order the strap from???
-
I have been reading so many great things about the UPO 45mm it made me wonder if anyone has heard if they are going to release a 42mm version. I have a smaller wrist and I'm afraid the 45 might be too big. I have a Tag Chrono from Trusty (great watch btw) and I think that is 42 or 42.5 and I feel any bigger than that would look rediculous.. tho I could be wrong... Should I just go for the 4th Gen with a rubber strap (that's the strap I'll get regardless of watch size)? Me only concern is that I have read that the way the bracelet secures to the watch on the 4th generation is not very good... is that true???

Andrew was the one who serviced it. Like I said for the first 2 months it made a "sqeeky" noise when winding... now it just makes a clicking noise... it that bad??? Is it suppose to make a sqeeky noise when winding???
-
Got a tag link chrono from trusty and got it fully serviced but it seems to stop an aweful lot. I gave it aout 50 winds and shook it good for 5 min. I also noticed when I first got it and would wind it the watch would make kind of a "sqeeky" noise when winding (like my rollie rep).... now it just clicks when I wind... no sqeeking... Any thoughts???

Great... thanks!!! I will put duct tape on the outside links and only polish the center ones. HAPPY THANKSGIVING ALL!!!!!

What Is The Most Expensive Rep At The Moment?(this One?)
Feta1 replied to youpmelone's topic in General Discussion
order from them and all you will have is a bank account that is 4k lighter... SCAM search this site and you will find trusted dealers... with rep prices ranging from $150-$500 -
I have seen quite a few rep subs (several of my friends have ordered). I have a Trusty perfect sub, 2 of my friends have subs from Josh. One thing I always seem to notice is that the pearl on all 3 "glows" when it is in broad day light. To me this must be a dead give away. I have never seen a gen sub outside of an AD, but can someone shed some light on this (no pun intended). Do the pearls on gens glow in daylight??? One of my friends orderd a new insert, and when he got it I went over to see it. Before he put it on the sub we took it outside and the pearl in the insert was glowing in the day light too. Maybe I am just missing something and the gens glow outside too... expert opinions please...

Review Of Tag Link Automatic Chronograph 7750
Feta1 replied to By-Tor's topic in By-Tor's Watch Reviews
I have this watch from Andrew... beautiful watch. I know this might be a dumb question, but what it "thread lock"??? I can see the clasp on mine is loose so I tighted it... is there something else I should do? -
very nice... just out of curiousity was it listed as a "vintage" box??? And if you don't mind me asking what did you end up paying for the box (minus shipping)???
-
did you get the box from the bay or some other place???
-
I already figured I was doomed after day one... c'est la vie Anyone have 2 cents to add about watchmaker9. I came across his Sub at it looks pretty nice and is about the same as Josh's Perect Sub... thoughts???
-
Thaks for all the warm welcomes guys. I contacted Josh... seems he is out of his "Perfect" Sub (blk dial) at the moment I guess I'll just wait unless someone knows where I can get a compairable sub with all the mods he offers... thoughts???
