  1. I felt guilty so I have just upgraded to a 6 month membership. Why have I waited? Because of aperthy, I needed prompting, this sort of thing needs to be in your face all the time to get a better uptake IMHO. It is just to easy to sit back and take without giving. I would (and now have!) pay to access restricted areas. My slight concern is this: I do so now because I know the information contained on this board (technical and dealer related) is first rate, it has enabled me to purchase two first class reps from the dealers here with security where as I could quite easily have been scammed somewhere else. However, If this information where not accessible to me IE I'm a new member and I have restricted access, I doubt that I would stump up the cash to find out if the info is good or not. Although having said that, a temporary 1 month membership giving enough access to the important bits so as the new member can decide if full membership is worth it would address that concern.
  2. Hi The Zigmeister, I've done the timezone courses and have rebuilt a number ETA movements, experience and confidence is building...slowly! I've stuck to the methods laid out in the training material and oiling is indeed an art in its self! I thought as you have repaired/serviced more movements than I've had hot dinners you might have had a better or improved method of oiling the barrel, however, reading between the lines it seems you use well established methods. Thanks anyway. Regards
  3. How about asian pseudo 7753? The Zigmeister, could you describe what oils you used in the barrel and where it was applied?
  4. I saw it to, nuged the wife and said listen to this just before he gave his valuation, she nearly fell of the couch!!
  5. Tahnks for that! Very infomative.... I liked the bit about the gen and CG's '.....here the crown guards don't overlap the crown....very accurate...'
  6. I for one really love the The Zigmeister zone. I've learnt a heck of a lot by reading the posts, I really hope that a) the info stays and b ) The Zigmeister keeps adding to it. If it where to disappear I think the forum as a whole would be worse off. Please don't do it!
  7. The time zone does explain the different dates. PST is -8 hrs, when the payment was made 20:39:57 on March 28th, it shows up for Neil at 04:39:57 GMT March 1st....
  8. The tail of the sweep second hand is also different.
  9. Saturday as in yesterday! Email with scanned shipping docs and tracking number. Tracking shows item shipped. Top class!
  10. Ordered one on Sat night, paid for it and received shipping notification this morning! That has to be world class/outstanding service in anybody's book!!
  11. I would love to believe that but I'm not convinced the ETA's we see in some watches have been through any QC since assembly... OTOH at least the world and his dog should be able to find spares and repair them...
  12. Dude, is She a 'keeper'? Yes = take her to Paris and buy her something real! What's she gonna feel about a you giving her a fake watch If no, then why are you buying her something!
  13. Must be nice to have so much 'disposable' income
  14. That is really a fine watch, when will it be available and how do we order from you? Your link is not working...
  15. I'd be more worried about getting 10 of them through customs than trying to shave $20 of the price!
  16. No, another very expensive cool hobby1 I'm new too, take the advise of the long termers here they know their onions..... Oh, if there's a problem, don't screw the dealer up with a pp claim email instead...
  17. Really love the look of the 'new' Navitimer's, wouldn't mind one myself. However, have you guys seen these? OK, not a rep I know, however, there's more than one design que 'borrowed' here. When is a rep not a rep! Makes you wonder... http://www.poljot24.de/en/pd-599028424.htm?categoryId=2
  18. Very nice, I like the Cimer as well. Not heard of them before, I'm green with envy!
  19. One instinctively knows when something is right! Great watch!
  20. I'm going with my first (and only!) rep: But will probably go Russian at some point!
  21. It's running a bit fast but I really love wearing this!
  22. Missing: Stowa Damasko Our Russian friends: Vostok Europe Vostok Poljot Volmax Denissov
  23. Thanks for the warm welcome Guys, My PP 5053 turned up last week courtesy of Josh (Pics to follow). I must say it’s a fine watch even if it is not the most accurate rep in the world! I had excellent communication from Josh and very prompt delivery so a big thumbs up from me. This is my first rep so I was not sure what to expect, it came without a box but I assume that is the way….. It feels nice and weighty and well put together plus it seems to run accurately. The finish is good with no obvious flaws. Compared to the original, not that I own one you understand , I can see the date is in the wrong position and the flip case back hinge is at 9 O’clock instead of 10 O’clock and the face is white instead of cream with an eggshell surface finish. The crown is too small as well and actually makes adjustment a bit tricky for my fat fingers but I’m not too concerned! It’s also the first watch I have with an ETA2824-2 movement and comparison to the Russian Vostok 2426 movement is interesting. I don’t know much about these things but the Russian movement feels smoother and more precise and looks better made to my very untrained eye. A great watch though and I’m now hooked and on the lookout for my next rep!
