  1. Why is the addressee responsible in Germany? Doesn't make any sense... :g:

Without proof of purchase or a receipt (which reps never have), how can the german customs punish a recipient? Who's to say the watch wasn't a surprise gift?

It's not that easy... you get punished for importing fake products. The first time you only get a warning letter but you're "blacklisted" then. What they also do is inform the owner of the trademark, e.g. Panerai. Then you'll also get a letter from them warning you off...

The next time they'll catch you, you will be prosecuted and maybe even sued by the trademark owner civilly. You'll have to proof somehow you didn't order that watch and this could become a little difficult. Maybe you can get out of that, but surely you don't want that kind of trouble...

I've been through the first part (the warning letters) myself and I also know someone who has actually been prosecuted. He came off with a penalty.

  2. If you intend to send a rep watch to Germany, DO NOT hide it inside something! German customs x-rays almost everything now and if they find you're hiding something, at least the adressee will be in a lot of trouble - and maybe even you. German customs are the strictest in Europe, if not worldwide - believe me, personal experience... :black_eye:

The best way is of course to have someone relay it from Europe.

  3. :) I didn't use a sledgehammer. A thread on the case (where the CG sits) was worn out (new watch btw!) and so I cut a new thread. When I then drilled a fitting hole on the CG I used a tiny little to much force and drilled all the way through (= no hold for the screw head anymore). I think I just need a smaller bench drill.

Oh, sorry to hear that the case had a worn out thread...

I suppose it's the Fiddy I sold to you you're talking about? I didn't even take of the CG off once, so this is exactly how it came from PT...

  4. Well, finally I also received my watch. Shpping time from France to Germany: 4 weeks... :yuk:

This is ridiculous - but I guess French postal service is to blame and not PrDubis. Communication with him was nice and friendly and I would definitely buy from him again.

    Thumbs up! :good:

  5. Nice PAM, and I'll agree thats the closest Cotes De Geneve engraving I've ever seen on a rep Asian movement. Pity everything else about that movement is wrong.

    Hi unreg,

you're the expert... so what is wrong about the movement (except the "Officine Panerai" writing, which is obviously wrong)?

Anyway, I know I won't get a perfect rep, that's why I am going for a gen 111. As soon as I've got the funds together... :whistling:

    Cheers

  6. Hmm... Sounds a bit dodgy. You might want to check with the staff. They mentioned about similar activity some time ago.

I just sent him another PM and will give him a chance to answer. If he doesn't, I'll get in touch with the staff and even Paypal.

I still hope this turns out good...

Edit: He just replied... said he shipped last Monday and seemed a little [censored] off that I threatened to inform the admin staff. Well, I can understand that - but on the other hand, had he just replied to one of my previous two PM, I wouldn't have got suspicious. Especially because he was online every day.

Anyway, maybe I just expect too much... let's wait and see if the watch arrives.

  7. Hi!

I bought a watch from PrDubis on 2009/12/31, paid via PP on the same day. PrDubis told me, he would ship on the next monday, which would have been January the 4th. Well, nothing has arrived yet and shipping from France to Germany should be much faster. I wrote two PM to PrDubis and got no reply from him (although he HAS been online in the meantime). I also realized he has a lot of watches on offer in the trade section... seems to be a dealer.

So, what's going on? Is this a scam? Any other members that have actually received a watch from him?

    Cheers

  8. Yeah, they promised to sue me... I guess that would have been expensive and I can be happy that they didn't charge any fees or something like that.

I didn't even know that Marina Militare was a Panerai trademark... otherwise I wouldn't have ordered overseas. You can even get them on eBay in Europe, but they're removed from time to time.

I am also not sure if they are still so "nice" when there's Panerai written on the dial... that's why I will not take the risk again.

    Cheers
