  2. Best to contact Jakob mate ..he makes custom casebacks to order... He is a member on here so PM him But you need to sort out the designations..ie make sure you have correct numbers.. the 209 was never a 5218 and you have already said about the 040..
  3. Ciao mate Hopefully you will learn all you need here and meet some great guys
  4. My favourite boxes are Rainer's on Risti... I like these more than any I have had... http://www.network54.com/Forum/674579/thread/1385287533/last-1385287533/Fine+COLLECTOR+WATCH+BOXES+for+your+PANERAI+watches++-++all+with+XXL+chambers
  5. The basic incuts of the markers on the PreV dials referred to as the Thin ...are no different from the ones referred to as the Fat ... The dials and the cuts are the same ...what makes them appear different is the lume..its application and mix..... if you look at one close up what you will see is that the lume has been applied more cleanly and so avoids the edges of the markers and doesnt spread... this gives the appearance of the dial markers appearing thin... But aside from that the problem with rep dials ..any of them... has been that they are not produced in the same way as the gen... so the issue with all of them was the markers were never deep enough.. taht is why FGD always painted his dials rather than lume them as there wasnt enough in the depth of the markers... in turn other reps reproduced dials bsed on the finished gen not on the dial before it is lumed so these always reproduced the cutots of the gen after lume ..hence why they vary and look inaccuarte in the majority if not all cases... It is the similar mistake made in understanding the issue of matching and non matching dials and then in turn to patina'd lume from PreV dials...both are totally different dials and produced for entirely different reasons.. The Non matching is a singular issue that relates only to 201a's and 202a's...it does not effect any other PreV... and it is only a certain number of each that have this issue and the serial numbers are known and listed in databases... it was an effect produced in the initail batches of each model and was rectified immeadiately after by OP at the time..the look is quite consistent in teh way the dials looks... hands were not effected by this issue hence the non matching term In other cases that can be seen a variance is purely a patina or aging of the dials and hands and is more variable in its look and can effect both.... Then you have the latter issue that has occurred in non matching which gives an even different look.. You can see all these issues in various PreV models and it is those variances that can mean that you can never be certain how a PreV should look...there are no rules or exact looks..it is simply a guideline... What is more readily identifiable (barring Serifs, and inscriptions, berlac, etc) is the finish of the dial created at the time they were made by the cutouts of their markers and there depth, the look under varying lights of the varnished galvanic bathed dial itself and the way the lume looks in terms of the varnish finish and its reaction in varying lights simialar to the way you can see it in the dial itself..
  6. So what am I ..? Chopped liver.. I need to start asking stuff... with ... I am just " Clueless and just a girl.. hee hee ."
  7. I can see why you dont like it mate... As for modders..Goin is in Tiawan...where are you mate and I can tell you some suggestions Goin produced a reasonable CG a few years back..I am not aware of a new batch but I aint saying there aint... What do you want to achieve with the lume... what are you looking for from the lume mate...? Did you say you didnt want a non matching lume or did you not like the colour of the non matching lume that David did but still want non-matching? I am guessing you want a creamier lume finish?
  8. That Sir is an unmitigated and outrageous slur on the chaarcter of these fine gentlemen.... I demand satisfaction.... Wot! Wot! :)
  9. Thanks for that...I thought my eyes had gone...I just spent last 5 minutes checking my eyes and trying on my wifes glasses !! Maybe if I stare at it long enough i might see something else I want to ask but I am not sure I would understand the answer ...
  10. I think the option of redoing the lume is probably the best one if you aint happy... and do as Grim suggests Though there are many guys that can do great jobs on it for you ...Goin is a decent bloke as suggested but if you have worries on customs (Germany for example etc) where you are then might be better to see who is less risky ... But can i ask ...Why arent you happy with lume? Is it colour, quality, charged strength etc?
  11. Thought Police.... !!! I never had to worry about them.... I have never had a thought of my own....
  12. Yes mate..just tried bad gateway 502 I am sure it will be back soon
  13. Blimey..... I am that slow with jokes too :)
  14. That is good mate... But as a general to anyone reading this dont assume that all these rep models will be the same...consistency can vary...from tightness of the CB to missing gaskets and Orings etc... so I would suggest you either get it checked or use the slower methods to check rather than just jump in and assume all will be as waterproof..
  15. Reg (Narikka) is in the TD section... For a specific model I would recommend you contact the trusted dealers direct with a pic or link to what you are after.... Probably best to contact the smaller dealers as they are cheaper and likely more willing to have a look for one Good luck and hopefully you will find what you want

  17. Double TRL now that is crazeeeeeee.....!!
  18. Similar quality is Rios1931...they work similar to Hirsch and generally slightly cheaper... There is a guy that gets the cancelled orders ...usually guys that special order XL and then cancel for what ever reason ...he sells them on for much less.. I got a Rios 'President' Alligator XL ... it is absolutely gorgeous and so soft..it was a cancelled special length order ... It was the cheapest Alligator I ever bought... s So if he has something along those lines you can always get the matching standard strap.... I think that DiModell do a version like the Liberty...it is called the Jumbo slightly cheaper as I recall.. plus DiModell tend to do a longer length in their standard range... or try their Offroad model That is so comfy and has a slight twist with a double tongue buckle and padded upper plus WP.... and comes in XL Try seeing if that is made in XL if it is of interest.. Or Birkenstock might do the style and XL off the shelf.. Or why not try RicardMg on here.... he does some nice straps that I have seen and they are very cheap for the quality and finish...I dont mean like PAM straps but the more classic/classy strap... plus they will be a one off pair
  19. In which case mate you wont find an A7750 for that money.... maybe a Chinese 25J movement... but they can be very unpredictable and if its a gift then you dont want that risk I think... I think you should be looking for what you like and then send the link to a dealer like Sead at supermirrors or Rochest at WatchesInternational (they dont take PP though) or other small dealer like Mary (who also doesnt take PP) If you send them the pics of the one you want they will get them cheaper than from the bigger dealers..exactly same watch but cheaper... their shipping charge is also cheaper $25 than big dealers $45.. usually around half the price.. Or they can send it to you via triangle shipping..ie from GZ to UK and then UK to you in EU... there is an extra charge but it is not that much...I think big dealers are about $70 but small dealers will do it for around $35 .. or you can ask any friend etc in UK to recieve it for you and send it on...so you minmise customs risks I think that one in your link from Angus would be about $203 with EMS shipping but more like $160 with EMS shipping from smaller dealers or bit more for Triangle shipping So choose the watch you like, as at that price they are all about the same quality, send link to small dealer and ask for price including shipping either direct to you or triangle shipping
  20. That is kind of you to say I try .. but I am just one amongst many here... Good luck mate
  21. Thanks mate Good luck Remember dont just use the dealers here... there are a few on RWI that will search the stalls etc... When I was searching for an out of stock item last time I emailed about 12 dealers..but i got one in the end I reckon the V3 Chrono will be most likely to be found as its not been out of stock long...
  22. LOL ! You wont let it lie.... I suppose you have bought a pair by now.....
