  1. The biggest problem with DSNs for me is the crown position, it sits far to low in the CG. Ie there is more of it below rather than above. However I do think Vac or Sead can source pretty reasonable versions and mod them as required. Though all of them have pretty big flaws if that is something that will bother you ...
  2. Now thats Funny ..... If only that was real......then I would watch that show regularly Thanks for sharing mate .... Whoever posts next is an [censored] ;)
  3. Lovely..... Dont forget to share the pics when its booted.... I really love the feel of the VS.... almost as much as I love the Kodiak leather... I get so many comments when I wear the Shark..... even from total strangers...
  4. It is a shame as there were a few nice PAMs including some Subs that never saw the light of day (
  5. I reckon its all down to the quality of your posts...... Thats why I am always on line
  6. And you promised Ken that you wouldnt post our holiday snap !!!
  7. Thats what Maxman says when he steps into the toilets !!!
  8. Of course you are right Mike.... I am sorry mate.. If you want to get it sorted... then you need to follow the following instructions to the letter... 1) Get up move to the front door 2) Step outside 3) Walk to the side walk 4) Remove everything you are wearing (assuming you are wearing anything) 5) Run into the middle of the street 6) Jump up and down shouting " I need a real man!" 7) await response from a) Your friendly neighbour b A friendly passer by c) The Police d) A friendly Policeman Whichever occurs first will ensure you get on -line Trust me
  9. this is about ass mate.... not pussies !!!!
  10. I remembered I had this in my book marks and thought I would post it in case any of you aint seen it http://pageflip.dpsonline.it/book/view.asp?id=169
  11. No probs mate I remembered another bit of research I had saved and rechecked it.... it was a translation of the original specs on the 201a sales literature... It states that the watch comes with 'a spare band and a grey shark skin band'
  12. From what DG told me there were other VS straps (Blue, Black, green) that came with other PreVs but not originally with the 201a etc these other ones did end up in the 201a boxes either through the owners buying them later or because in some cases the originals were not liked by the original buyers... For example the Blue VS was off the MN...
  13. The pics from Dirk in bottom picture show the Vera Squalo Olive Brown with Khaki stitching that strap and a light or dark cognac were originally sold with the 5218-202a The Vera Squala Nubuck dark grey was sold only with the 5218-201a along with a Tan or Dark Cognac strap. If you notice in the pic the Olive is fitted with a PVD buckle For clarification on the PAVs - This is a Richemont designation given to certain OP straps in the same way the MX prefix is now. Cartier (later Vendome) then Richemont were given 300 odd left over straps when they took over OP..... these were mainly made in 1995 though a few in 1994... they had been for some models that never went into production most notably the Slytech projects they were not used on the PreVs we are discussing... though some of those 1994 ones were originally intended for what we call the PreV models... ie one sliding keeper...and some were as the Original Kodiak leather rather than the Vero Cuio leather.. In 2004, a junior in the Firenze boutique was asked by Boneti to code up these straps hence the prefix PAV, the idea being to sell them off through the boutiques at inflated prices
  14. Congrats mate... Wear it well Doesnt look too bad out the box... great for the money though
  15. Thanks mate... I know what you mean about giving it to your mate.... When I did the AR on an old 212... I didnt bother removing the crystal as I knew it was sited properly and didnt want to risk putting it back wrong so I used that polish on it with a low micron micro fibre cloth... I found it best to do it in natural daylight to catch the remenants of the AR as I removed it.... The stuff I used was made by 'Arthur Price of England' ..... according to the box its the stuff used by the Queen and Prince Charles.... but that always surprised me as I thought they would have someone to remove the AR for them !!!
  16. If I am honest the first rep I bought was to make out it was a gen as I couldnt afford one..... How I thought anyone would think it was gen now amazes me and it didnt last that long anyway!! Years later after owning gens I wandered across this site and realised how good reps had become.... then I bought a few and started to get more into all the different brands the quality and accuracy or not as the case maybe... What I then found was a really great extension of enjoying watches was creating my own watches based on gens that I couldnt buy or didnt want to sell my car to buy !! I found this so much fun and found it introduced me to so many great guys here which in turn led to friendships which I value very highly... I think now I still really enjoy reps... I prefer putting them together and enjoying the search for parts etc and the people it puts me into contact with...but above all I stay around reps to stay around here and enjoy the community, the guys on here and the info it brings... It takes many kinds to make such a great forum and its because of that... we all have different wants from this hobby....
  17. Mate.... All that hanging around in mens toilets ... it aint the PAMs that are getting you that ass !!!!
  18.  Love it! Yeah T...... Who are you !!!!????
  19. Really comes down to budget mate.... Tan and Dark Cognac are the straps that came with the 5218-201/A Light Cognac and Dark Cognac are the straps that came with the 5218-202/A and 5218-203/A Plus the shark skin in Vera Squalo in the grey but not the Olive Green those were on the 202a and 203a So if you want accuracy a PAV is not the right strap... Apart from the 0093 all PAVs have a fixed keeper which is not correct for these PreV models... These came with two floating keepers of which one was meant as a spare not a wearer... Mario Paci's are inaccurate and can easily be spotted because of edging stitching etc when its on your wrist The only accurate strap is a Dirk but if you want first gen PreV buckle on it then it will cost about 600 Euros... plus he will stamp strap as the original... assuming he is willing to do it for you.... the buckles he uses for a standard order are exactly the same coinage as the PreV buckles but are engraved Dirk rather than the Panerai and Logo. These are about 150 Euros. Or you can get one of Rolexfinders PreV buckles which aint bad and have it stitched into a handmade strap however NONE of them are accurate to the gen PreV strap except the Dirk.. Closest I have seen and have are Orloffs... he fitted some PreV buckles to a Vero Cuio leather (as used on PreV straps) He also gets pretty close on the stitching ... and best of all it will cost about 50 Euros Having said all that I dont know of many gen owners who havent got at least one aftermarket strap...... so you can get whatever you like.... thats hardly going to be a big an issue as wearing a £30K watch...and what that means.......!! well you know what I mean ;)
  20. +1.... these crystals are notorious for breakage due to numerous reasons including temperature changes, incorrect sitting etc I have used stainless steel polish on minerals before without problem... but go slowly as it heats up quickly in your hand Can I ask what 253 do you have? I guess its an old version given you have purple AR..
  21. Thanks again guys.... I am really grateful that you would take the time to remind me that I am an older git !!! Cheers to you all .... I raise my glass to you guys
  22. I always found that its initially what you are wearing in terms of clothes especially shoes and the way you hold yourself.. gait etc that attracts the dickers interest in the wrong areas.....
