  1. Cheers for info ingelero. I should point out that when I said drilling a he valve I think I would opt for the non-functional 'plug' valve option so would not drill into the inside of the case.

Can you send a caseback to phong to engrave without having to buy one off him?

  2. Pusher position is an obvious one. Many Asian 7750 based reps have pushers that are both equal distance from the winding crown. The more accurate layout (as per gen) has a start/stop pusher that is positioned slightly closer to the winding crown than the reset pusher. Look at some images and you'll see what I mean. FYI You can get a case that takes the cheaper asian (or swiss eta) movement WITH the correct pusher layout, then you're into dial issues but there the difference is less noticeable. You need to do a lot of research into a daytona build and find what's right for you and your wallet. Good luck.

  3. Yes, it should work. JMB's case was designed for a 2824 and the sizes are the same.

You can't use the date versions though (1530/1560/1570).

Having said that, I rarely recommend using a gen Rolex caliber on a closed caseback watch when there is an ETA that will work, especially when you are not using a gen case. The cost/benefit ratio just doesn't cut it.

Couldn't agree more. What's the point of going to that expense? Oh, and let's not forget Rolex themselves use ETA movements in their Tudor range. So, an ETA movement (if you want to split hairs) is just as much a Rolex movement as a 1520 ie it is sold by the Rolex company which, by definition makes it a Rolex.

  4. Very interesting. I can only see more of this happening in the future. I don't suppose that we will get an apology from any VRF members for their appalling attitude towards "fake" parts and the people who use them? I won't be holding my breath.
