We are taking this too seriously and in the process taking the fun out of our hobbie lets build our watches for our own entertainment so if our watches have gen or aftermarket parts we appreciate a super franken or a low build rep , i have noticed that some new members come here all stressed out and ask should i fit a gen case gen dial gen crown and so on build your watch to your own pocket there is nothing wrong with a low cost rep or a rep upgraded to aftermarket parts (im going off topic here appologies) rolex should realise that they (SELL) there watches not rent them so a rolex owner should be able to have is watch repaired by any watch repairer he chooses and the watchmaker/repairer should be able to have parts supplied to none ADs and being a classic car restorer myself this has been said above after market parts have been accepted in the classic car community ,parts are re-manufactured as the original factory do not exist or dont supply vintage parts of cause there are those that will say that the car is now not original and so on and its the same with vintage watches more and more watches have aftermarket parts finished there are restorers and those who prefer to leave there watch dial faded and aged but a gen watch with aftermarket or refinished parts does that make your watch a fake? and who decides that ,is there an offical gen or fake offically cerified body?

On order new parts including a tudor rose dial
aeromatic replied to aeromatic's topic in The Rolex Area
Nanuq this is going to be a homage to the homage tudor black bay (i use the term loosely) because this will not be an exact copy of the BB! -
Well on order is a 6538 case and a tudor rose dial (round markers) and snowflake gold handset from raffles and a harley davison insert . guess what this watch will be based on? This is not meant to be an exact replica of it but more like a homage to the tudor homage, but dare i say a little bit more vintage looking. this will be powered by an early 1970s 2783 eta which is only one digit away from a tudor 2784 eta (ok lets see if you experts can tell me the difference between 2783 and 2784 eta ! Stay tuned!

Well said! im very happy with my asian 2836-2 it was clean and well lubricated and a 1/4 of the price , A21j still going strong after 7 years use for me i can not have all my watches with expensive gen movements and swiss eta so i sellect which builds i want gen or swiss or asian copy i have had problems with swiss eta but never with A21j a service upon arrival is always a good start. a rep is a rep and no dealer QC photo is proof of a perfectly working movement/watch i ordered two watches from a trusted dealer qc photos were sent and i ok,d them and when the watches arrived the chronograph push button fell apart on the one watch and the other had a few dents around the bezel after letting the seller know about the problem the reply from the seller was sorry replacement parts not available (this seems to be happening quite a bit resently), even when i enlarged QC photo of the watch with the bezel issues you could see the damages, i missed it because i was checking for missing parts or wrong colour dials and so on i never bother sending a watch back so i have to live with these issues i have ordered over 100 watches from this dealer and most have been good watches some have had there issues we have to remember these are reps mass produced at a fraction of the gen(mass produced) price. in most cases repairing the watch instead of sending it back to china is more cost effective than paying return shipping waiting and the risk of customs ceasing the returning watch i wont say who the dealer was as i have had other issue/broken parts and the dealer has sent me replacement parts and always appologises

woof thats great looking watch and i love the mesh bracelet i had one of those on my plo-prof yours looks like you have dished subdials? my do not iv ordered one of those nasa cloth straps and im thinking if the watch proved a good movement i will fit a gen nasa backcase if it fits and a gen bracelet but i have to decide if the watch is worth the 300usd costs to do this! -
Unfortunately not many on here go for custom i myself bend both ways i can appreciate an exact replication of a gen and a custom built watch even some gen makers are making custom style watches take the tudor black bay if a modder put a snowflake dial on a no crownguard vintage type case he would get remarks like why have you put those hands on that case its wrong! at the end of the day its a watch ! build them for yourself not for show! im planning to build a blackbay type watch lets see 6538 case tudor dial and milsub handset! yes i can see that on my wrist with a zulu strap!

Thanks chiMAN12 we appreciate your excellent review and pointers Can we get this pinned? this is very interesting info and should be available for all to see ! great job!

Mine is correctly stamped and is running fine even the sound of the 28 beater is the same ,i think mabe all rep movements today are asian even the 2846 i mean its been a while now that eta stopped supplying eta,s with replica watches getting better and better do we really know for sure if its a swiss eta dont get me wrong these are good movements but swiss etas can be cloned exactly i believe. anyway a lot of people still think that if its made in china its no good the fact is a lot of trademark items are made there officially, in the end you do get what you paid for there are cheap watches that can fall apart and there are watches around 350-400usd that have a very high quality finish we had in the shop a gen plo-prof and my rep and build quality of the rep next to the gen looks and felt the same ok im sure hard core purists will find mistakes but they are two watches where price has a world of difference one around 370usd and the other well over 5000usd all reps have faults my sons 21j sub almost 8 years old worn everyday and still going strong!

I was wondering if its possible to convert this movement to single bridge im thinking of ditching the datewheel and dropping this movement into 5512 sub as its not marked 3135 it would be a step up from an eta and without the date complication should be a reliable movement after a full service!
-
I know i have already asked this but do you think this y3135 is the same movement that puretime uses for there superclone 3135 watches puretime says that its the first clone that fits gen hands and dial and can be installed in a gen case in the photos it looks much better than the A3135 s

Rep moonwatch reduced Gen speedmaster moonwatch backcase question
aeromatic replied to aeromatic's topic in The Omega Area
Yes you are correct and im not sure that the rep movement is robust to be worth the expence the case looks very well finished and the dial look ok but as you said the subdial flaw is a downfall but then again i am not building an exact replica of the gen but as a budget nice looking watch mabe later i would like to build a complete watch using only gen parts watchadoo has many parts i understant that the movement it the hardest to find. i used to have some rep backcases from the older rep mw but dont remember what i did with them they were the same as the gen photo above. -
Best is to go through the forum to find links to safe sellers i my self, link up through there news updates that we recieve through by email safe sites are hard to find when googling i found only scam sites are shown many are using the safe sites name and photos! and many could think they are on a safe site.

Rep moonwatch reduced Gen speedmaster moonwatch backcase question
aeromatic replied to aeromatic's topic in The Omega Area
This is for the gen reduced the rep is a different breed (i hope) as far as i can see the only difference is a smaller case the back case and view of the movement on both sizes (rep) looks the same size im thinking its the case width that makes the difference it will be a risk i know valued at about 100usd! Many thanks for your info! As far as i can see the rep reduced is not a replica of the reduced but another (fantasy) smaller version of the moonwatch i also read By-tors review on this piece i being a rolex submariner man the reduced is what i call regulation size (40mm) the rep 38mm size does not at look that small on the wrist and looks the same as a submariner! -
