Watchadoo you can practically build a complete omega from his shop! My seamaster rep had a gen backcase fitted no problem! -

What did that poor watch do to anybody to deserve this treatment! Yikes
-
so thats how rolex tests there watches in different tempertures in these hard economic times? man this watch must have been really hated
-
yes we could say that the watch was on a airoplane and ditched in the sea and went deep.deep, deep and suffered from the pressure ,everyone likes a story

For me my gen want list would be like this (1) 1960s-1970s 5513 sub (2) 1960s-1970s gmt pepsi (3) 1680 redsub Yes my list consists of vintage models only i just find them very interesting im not a big fan of the oversized submariner models but any of the pre-oversized subs are nice! Not much chance of owning any of these vintages im afraid, with these crazy ebay prices, unless they start lowering the prices of vintages after all we are in a economic crisis i saw a 1950s tudor not in mint condition asking price 59,999usd this is crazy to put it mildly I can only dream! mabe i will get lucky again this year after swopping my planet ocean rep (300usd) watch for a rare gen pre-moon pre-professional speedmaster valued at just over 2000usd the guy wanted to off load this rare gem which in his own words was a pile of junk! his eyes fixed to my wrist i slipped off my PO and the guy couldent leave with my rep quick enough! in case i changed my mind! oh by the way in case you wondering i did tell him that the PO was a replica!

A franken sub with gen movement gen case, bezel, dial, crystal, crown and so on would cost over 3000usd unless you are very lucky a gen late no date sub can be had for say 3300usd but may not be much fun for the hard core franken builder but like gen rolexes that always seem to keep there value so do gen parts so even a franken has a value for franken builder and someone looking for that sought after gem part! strange thing is i think most of us would not think twice to purchase a 1530 gen movement up to 2000usd but would not purchase a gen roly for 3000usd even the franken will exceed this amount. i believe in years to come a franken will have a high value of there own and become a main steam collecting item and the closer to the gen higher the price tag, Remember that famous indy movie quote ( this pocket watch is only 10usd i take it and bury it and in 2000 years time its worth millions people will kill to get there hands on it! ok mabe a bit far fetched but you know what i mean!

Damaged watches bargain prices yes i could live with that and then we rebuild them! to our own specs!

Thanks rolojack ,sorry im not sure how to upload photos onto pms so i have put them here! This watch has a folded bracelet (but care has to be taken some versions have dials printed oyster perpetual date on a no date dial !) and it is mostly hidden on site photos because the watch is at 10.10 ! i think the watch is priced around 265usd shipped. The part i need is a bezel or casekit 6202 (6538 bondcase) If you find something similar please pm and let me know prices Many thanks

Super watch! and some great looking rolex boxes! im looking for a replacement bezel for the cartel jb no crown guard sub it arrived damaged from the seller also looking for a 5513 cartel case or watch similar with good cgs to the vintage subs that idlereplica sells if you come across anything like that please pm me thanks!
-
I use scotchguard pads the black ones remove first the bezel this gives a gen like brushed finish! but i have used wet n dry 600 grid (dry) and had grat results

The puretime 1680 rep case (my base for a 5513) came with 2mm springbars and they were super and strong!
-
Well Done! Very nice Watch and vintage looks too! what was the cost if you dont mind me asking?

Here are some quick photos to give the general idea. The stainless steel rod (lughole redrilled to 1.3mm Rod cut to size (depending on how much you want the pins to stick out next job to sand/polish and round off the ends with 600 wet n dry Here are the bends i have shown them bent a little bit more than is nesserary even one slight bend in the middle will work as long as the rod is a tight fit you will need a tube 2mm or a springpin tube with the ends and spring removed one you push the rod through the first lug then fit the tube until the other end is seen you will need to put pressure on the rod to line it up with the other lughole Disclaimer this is meant as a quick fix there are correct rolex springpins available this method could be used also for bracelets that the endlinks will not fit 2mm springpins just fit without the tube part. this may seem (crude)
-
my watchmaker friend makes his own pins for his watches he cuts a stainless steel rod the correct diameter and puts two slight bends in it and then feeds the rod into the lugs and its held in place as the bends cause the rod to act like a spring made correctly the only way that the pins come out is when you use a tool to push the pins out this is a good quick fix or can be left in, there is no risk of failure like ordinary springpins iin fact he has replaced most of his springpins in his collection ! almost forgot you will need a stainless steel tube for the width between your lugs because the rod/spins are thinner . note this mod can only be done to lughole cases! .
-
My yukiwatch springpins stick out a bit on my 6538 build i polished the case sides to replicate this rounded effect only problem i had with these springpins were the tube part was 20mm exact and it was a hard to fit them between the lugs, on ebay you can find aftermarket pins
