  1. I was wondering what discounts you find are available on genuines from Authorized Dealers in your area. This seems to be a verboten topic on the Purists, so I'll post it here. This is what I see in Toronto/Montreal: Audemars Piguet- 20-40% Rolex- 22% IWC- 30% JLC- 25% Patek Philippe- 10% Ulysse Nardin- 30% A. Lange and Sohne- 15% Glashutte Original- 30% Blancpain- 30-40% Vacheron Constantin- 30% Breguet- 25% Breitling- 20% Omega- 30% Tag Heuer- 30%-50% (!!!!) I don't know if these are good compared to other cities, or even I get better rates because I've bought from some of these retailers.
  2. Sorry, I don't believe it for a second. I have seen this so many times, where people have done crap to [censored] people off, then when they can't take the heat, they have a family member post they're dead or injured, sick or what not. It's best not to take anything at face value relating to someone who had the audacity to create a mockery of a certain member *cough*TTK*cough*.
  3. I know at Patek Philippe, they do the bars by hand, with boxwood blocks that have an abrasive compound rubbed on them. I've also seen pictures of Breguet doing perlage, where they also use a boxwood dowling, which is cylindrical shaped, with the compound on the edge, it is applied to the plate with the help of a machine.
  4. Oh well. At least I look better than you: Get those flies off you, Dutchy!
  5. ^^^ Needs to visit Dr. Kevorkian.
  6. That's a gross overstatement, you know. You would like to think you're like a tall tree. Also has narcisstic personality disorder too.
  7. ^^^ Forgot the original purpose of this thread.
  8. I'll bet his story is filled with sex, drugs and violence, eh? (Psssst..... Send me it )
  9. Is a 17 year old with too much money for watches.... Don't disgrace the AP brand. :yucky:
  10. Should go beat himself with a baseball bat.
  11. I had a genuine one, that was 40mm, and that one was not the model that could go to 3000m or so. It's easy to pick Seahawk II's up for $2500 brand new on eBay, but the 42mm ones are a bit more. I just didn't like the crown's position on this that much, seemed awkward to me. For $2500, it's quite a nice watch for the money, the quality is there. All it boils down to is personal taste.
  12. LOL, that's why I traded it off for a 15300 Royal Oak which is 38mm fits my wrist a lot better. It was far too big for me. And yes that is my wrist in the picture, the setting is at La Swiss at Carrefour Laval, which is an AP AD, if you really want to get detailed. I had one originally, but wore it once and didn't like it. It's great for everyone to have different tastes, I like the variety on this forum. People may not like the Journe, but I have that bit in me that says "I love it" in me. But on the contrast, I also like Panerais, because of their plain simplicity, but having said that, I will only buy Panerai reps despite the fact that I probably will keep shelling out the dough for Royal Oaks over and over again.
  13. What can I get cha? How about a picture of the Royal Oak Grande Complication? Retails at 340,000 euro, how about I'll be generous and give you a 50% discount? That'll be 170,000 euros please.
  14. Generally, half of retail is what used watches should go for. But in many cases, Diamond/Gold stuff go for less than that. I think if you lowered the price to something like $14,000 it would sell easier, hey, but that's just my personal opinion. Because, the Breguet Heritage Chrono I had in WG, has a retail of something like $30,000, but good example commonly go for something like $11,000 to $13,000.
  15. Can't any of you idiots tell? Of course it's the guy on the left.
  16. Has good taste in watches (i.e. Royal Oaks)
  17. 100,000 yen ($1,000 Canadian) is just way too much for this piece if it doesn't contain a 7753. If it did, I would be all over it.
  18. As long as I buy her a watch every now and then, maybe she won't notice.
  19. This is the watch I freaking love. I handled it in Paris, and it was an absolutely stunning watch, with the platinum case and the rose gold movement. Too bad it was something like 120,000 euros with zero discount available. FP Journe goes back to the basics with the tourbillon cage being reminiscent of a traditional Breguet, and incorporating rare complications such as the remontoir d'egalite and the dead seconds. SO when you handle it, the seconds moves like a quartz, which is actually kind of special. I am so longing for this watch, that I am even tempted to sell my UN Freak off to buy it (Used of course).
  20. Nice collection, but all I like in that group photo was the IWC Big Pilot. I just can't stand the thought of paying $10K for a ETA movement watch.
  21. And I'm still looking for one. I've also tried to find a genuine one, and it seems like a tough job too.
  22. Here's how it works in Canada, we get notices mailed to us, and we fill out the questionnaire. Then later, we get a notice to appear at the courthouse for selection at a certain date. There is a room of a hundred or two hundred people, where random people are called up and placed on jury panels. After, either the defence or the prosecutors can contest either one of us, if they think we do not qualify to sit on the jury panel. And then, we are given the date for the trial, and the time to appear. We were told to prepare at least 6 weeks for this, and we have to notify our employers and such. @fritz In Canada, and the United States, a group of 12 citizens are randomly selected to sit at a criminal trial whether it be sexual assault, robbery, murder, etc... The jury hears all of the evidence, testimony and decides the ultimate fate of the person, are they guilty, guilty of a lesser offence or not guilty? There is still a judge who presides in the trial, but the judge is not allowed in anyway to influence the jury's decision.
  23. I hope you get a Royal Oak sometime soon, Dutchy,
  24. I was wearing this at the courthouse today:
  25. It was screwdown for sure, it's water resistant to 150M. However, not being screwdown doesn't mean it isn't waterproof. The Royal Oak Jumbo I used to have lacked a screwdown crown, and was only resistant to 50M. The Patek Philippe Nautilus is resistant to 120M, but the crown is not screwdown either. But of course, a screwdown crown is always best. I am always fearful of getting any of my watches without screwdown crowns near water.
