  1. just out of the box today!!! excuse fuzzy iphone pics....
  2. progress update- more weight loss! Case slimmed down by approx 0.2mm to 5.8mm, plexk lowered and more work on sides. Lugs have been reworked also to get more tuttle shape. very tricky working on these lugs- i thought i had lost case at one point. There is very little material to work with and one slip up means the bin....definitely not for the faint hearted lol temporary slim display caseback mounted before i get athaya's slim bbb display caseback.
  3. Nice to know wr is spot on Dsn makes great quality builds
  4. here is an interim mock-up with stock bezel and custom bbb caseback. The bezel is great but i will lower plexi slightly. River's stock caseback is very nice but the domed plexi makes the case ride a bit high on teh wrist imho- particularly as this is to be a slimmer 6154. A flat display (like the one shown here) I think works better and looks (and feels) a bit more balanced on. More to do on lugs and case etc. For lug shapers you can see the material left near caseback and also on the bezel between the lugs- plenty here (just about). be careful not to go at too acute an angle (particularly on top) as you will undershot bezel too much.
  5. Heres another one- this time very heavily worked. more to do on lugs but main aspect on this is the crease between the lugs. I have wanted to do this for a few reshapes but the curved lug section always looked good so never got around to it After the heavy work on the previous dsn version i thought i would give this a go and see if there was enough material here- there is for anyone who is thinking of doing the same Here is the midcase part completed- custom bbb non-domed caseback to go on as well as lowered plexi and more work to lugs etc. Crease between the lugs is a lot of work but certainly adds to appearance of the case (although not that visible with strap mounted!!!) In addition here all flat surfaces have been slightly curved along with lugs lowered and caseback area softened etc. When i get caseback on etc. i will post overall shots of this
  6. lol now i have to go and re-read all the comparos on the two versions of 372....
  7. This is interesting- i heard that some solids fit this case but wasnt sure what ones suited The movement in this is the one thing i dont like about it! I have a nightwatch solid lightly polished caseback here for dsn case- i assume this will fit?
  8. heres an rxw case reshape- if it looks very similar to the river fiddy reshaped thats because it is! this one i received already had oakabum crown-guard installed with solid rxw sterilised caseback similar to previous river case reshape i took down the midcase height by 0.25mm (from 7.5mm to 7.3mm) advantage with this is similar to river in that the lug curve is very good. a lot of material has been removed from the lug area and also sides etc. but cushion chape is very attainable. this is image of stock rxw (form the archive): reshaped case:
  9. this is one done a while back as a trial stock river fiddy with 3mm solid caseback (again stock river) reshaped quite a bit of material removed on this from between lugs and on sides, as well as a lot off top stock midcase is very nice: only one to have gen thickness solid casebacl at 3mm afaik. Midcase is too tall at 7.55mm so this one was subsequently thinned down (from top) by around 0.25- 0.3mm. Bezel needed to be thinned also. The lug curvatuure really is the main difference between this and the stock old jackson case set (my favourite donor)- it really is something. If river made the lugs 0.4mm taller it would be really something. this one was all stock river- dial/hands/crown guard and crown etc. broken up and currently in the master necky's workshop getting ann athaya vintage crown guard and vintage crown and tube installed- with a solid plexi it should make a nice daily beater when i get it back as an out-of-the-box ready-to-wear the river set-up is very nice and can shape up nicely without any further spend. I believe the rxw rep case is very similar (lugs etc). anyway here are some images: BEFORE (stock river fiddy) AFTER (midcase only reshaped- all parts still stock river)
  10. Super build- amazing comparo worh older vdb posted.
  11. Moneybokers is very good Very small fees and is a simple funds transfer mechanism- what paupal should be No disputes no bull
  12. I will take whatevers left over...
  13. There was a comparison a while back when noob came out Noob just swung it but el was very close Always wanted to get one ... Never managed to snag one!
  14. vintage timeband or b-uhr would look great!
  15. nice looking movement there!
  16. Loveley I always wanter an el fiddy! Well wear
  17. sterile steel mille metri with solid plexi Bit of a story behind this build. Started off as an idea for an egi build- a california dialled egi. In parallel Dow was developing up his amazing vintage cali dials and as i had seen a prototype in the flesh. In the midst of the egi case assembly I began to think about a cali dial in a mille metri. Heresy I know but the idea just wouldn't let go. Here are a few cad images: I bounced the idea off Dow- it turned out he was thinking of the exact same mod (great minds think alike/ fools seldom differ lol!). Dow was already experimenting with a cali dial prototype with the indices too small for a vintage rad but that just might fit the mille. Remember these cali dials have been made using the exact same methods as the gen ones all those years ago and the finish is stunning. The trick was trying to squeeze in the minute track without it looking half cut-off.....Dow went back to the lab to do a few test runs! The game was on- next was to get suitable hands. After a lot of searching we looked at 2824 mil-hands from dsn off his benarus homage diver- here is a cad mock-up: However I managed to source a set of ennebi hands which we agreed should look great. Hands were shipped off to Dow who was busily luming cali dials well into the night, but took time off to show the hand/dial combo (shown here in comparison with mm logo dial): lume shot comparison: All this time I had been toying with the idea of modding my blasted steel mille metri but after installing a plexi it seemed just right- sterile, unmarked and just like a military version of the original design. I had always thought of modding the mid-case if possible to ti to see what it would look like, but it seemed wrong to alter this build. At one point I tried a bronze bezel but it seemed to be making the build a little too "pretty" so I decided to leave as-is. The bronze was great at giving me an idea as to how amazing a bronze mille would look however! steel mille metri sterile dial: steel with bronze bezel The cali idea wouldn't go away so it merged with another concept- a lightweight ti / plexi version of mm. After researching the plexi option in lieu of crystal for the mille metri case (thanks esdee +hf for input on that) it looked like a lightweight mm version could be on the cards. The only difficulty was getting a ti version of the case. After some hunting I managed to source the last remaining ti case off esdee (thanks esdee) and the game was on! After some time the parts arrived from various directions- plexi from kpoy, case from usa and dial from Dow. Here is the assembled parts: As I had worn the steel version 24/7 since receiving it some months ago by this stage I had developed a new dimple in my left hand form the crown-guard, I elected to do a destro mille metri, something I hadnt seen before either. So, destro cali mille metri project was on. Once i received my kpoy solid plexi the parts were duly sent off to andy schuhren: esdee mille metri case set, dow cali dial (modded to fit), ennebi hands and kpoy plexi. Andy was to supply 2824 + h5 and assemble and test build. One of the things I wanted to get done was a proper pressure test on a modded case with solid plexi to see if it was a good as we think it is! mock-up of destro version using cali dials- steel mille metri with sterile dial (solid plexi) destro mock-up: v comfortable!!!! part 2 to follow! ___________________________________ well, it's here- just in today!!! wooot!!!! big thanks to andy schuhren for putting together final ingredients as follows: amazing ti case by esdee (strap also!) awesome modded cali dial by dow hands form ennebi plexi by kpoy (alex) lume pip by saga Its hard to describe the dial unless you have seen one- this is one of 5 prototype dials dow did for his cali dial project: this in one of the 5 which had indices too small for 3646 cases. The dial is as per gen: aluminium plate anodised black and gold. The indices are cut, then polished (as gen) with lume applied by hand. Dow took this one down and it just about shows the full minute hand in the face. The effect when installed is almost gaposis. I will measure weight of assembled watch a little later on but with weight saving of plexi and rubber strap it feels very light on. the destro set-up is very comfortable also.Watch head + rubber strap is a very wearable 121g .
  18. comparo between modded new case 6154 and older dsn 6152 no cg case set
