Great stuff, thanks for this! Is it just me or does the rep date disc seem to be printed towards the inside of the disc? At about the same measurement as the rep date window is off by? So it seems a better date disc and a new dial (from DSN?) would correct this small problem, if you really wanted too that is..... Makes you wonder why the rep factory did it that way, they could have reproduced it exactly as the gen it seems.....

Yesterday I had a great learning experience

Hehe, we have all been there! Why not buy the cheapest movement version DSSD (same case), then salvage the parts from it and keep the rest as spares -
PAM236 Review - Rep236K (a7753 version) vs. Gen236i

Great write up and pics! Still no movement breakdown yet? -
Thanks guys, my trusty Sony P100 camera serves me well! Good to see they have some variation with the case back numbers too.....

Sorry, I broke my bracelet pin remover some time ago, don't want to bodge job it with the wrong tools
-
Yeah, the white dials just aren't quite as good, the date window flaw is more pronounced
-
Thanks, makes me wonder why the other ultimate PAM's are $450+, because this PAM250 is so much better, and more accurate to boot....
-
You're welcome! Now, where is the movement review? I want to see if this is another Asian 7750 hack job As long as it works.....

Seems to be standard rep lume to me
-
Thought that might be the case, thanks for the confirmation

The CG lever is like that when the CG is removed from the case, there is no pressure pushing it out Here are some more pics: Cheers!

You're most welcome, I hope you like your watch when it arrives too!

Thanks guys, this watch is definitely up there with the best reps I have received, the printed rep croc strap was poor (which I knew beforehand), but aside from that the watch is great! I should also add that the case back is K452/500, the lever has zero wiggle, or wobble for that matter! Does not flop at all, very smooth, solid feel and a crisp closing action upon the sprung crown. The chrono second hand sweep is very smooth too, just like some ETA movements I have!

When I saw that the Panerai Daylight series had been re-released, I knew I had to buy one The flush date wheel and functional date pusher at 10 was exactly what I had always wanted, over the stock A7750's sunken wheel, and fake pusher. I can't stand sunken date wheels, unless the gen is the same, and even then it irks me! It was a bonus that the Hublot factory maker was in charge of this reps creation too, as they make the best reps in my opinion (the often overlooked Breitling Heritage Chronograph is crazy accurate).... So I tested out Joshua's new QC and shipment procedure, and I must say I was very happy from start to finish! Josh had pictures of my watch sent via email before delivery, and the watch was regulated too, fantastic! Definitely a step up in service, and a most welcome development in this rep hobby Here are some wrist shots on a gen rubber strap, click to expand: The watch is really well made, very high quality and very good value at $358 My crown lever is relatively flush to the CG, which is also snug to the case, the crown pin is flat too, and well polished. The sprung crown looks spot on too, and feels solid when you adjust the watch. The strap release pushers are a delight to use, no more scratched lugs for me, the deployant buckle (not used/pictured) is very nice too, it has small panerai text engraved under the main clasp! I will buy a decent strap to make use of this The crystal has single AR, a strong almost invisible greenish tint is on the underside of the crystal, very effective. All the dial/hands/crystal seem spotless to me, no dust or marks etc.... The date is flush, only the thickness of the dial makes it seem otherwise, the font looks great to me, the pusher feels nice to use, and operates just like the ETA7753 I owned once, long in the past. The case itself is fantastic, top quality brushing and finish, with a crisp well executed bezel.... Overall I am very, very pleased with this watch, finally a Panerai I can buy and not have to mess about with. Some might want it relumed, as the lume is standard rep lume, but for me, my only concern now is finding some nice leather straps for the deployant. I knew I kept this OEM rubber strap in my parts box for a reason There is the small issue of the date wheel placement and size, it is not the same as the ETA7753 version, being slightly too far left, and a little too small, some members are worried over this. Also what is really making this watch tick? All valid concerns. Myself however, I am not really bothered, as the overall appearance of the watch, and the fact that I just want to buy watches to wear nowadays, rather than tweak until I get bored of them anyway, this watch looks great to my eyes. Only my general curiosity means I will read the (hopefully) forthcoming movement breakdowns with great interest Cheers!

The black dial looks much better than the white dial with these new reps, mine should be here on Monday
-
Yep, this watch needs to get into the hands of one of our resident experts pronto!
-
Well I did mention it would be a problem for those who wish to tweak and mod, its just that I'm not one of them. Certainly worth taking it up with the dealer/s involved though, if this will cause you a problem Could be the dealers are just saying what the factory tells them, at least that will most likely be the excuse again

So the date is the same size and in the same position as the stock A7750 version, which will clearly be a problem if you have a 7753 based dial, on the flip side, this movement should (in theory) drop into any previous A7750 PAM watch, just the date pusher would be a concern if it's not functional on the case..... Still, I'm not overly bothered, the date is still flush to the dial (aside from the dial thickness itself) and as I have the 236/250, the black colour and non numeral dial makes the date position accuracy less noticeable
