  1. Sweet looking all black, I may have gone for that one myself, but the first factory version was too pricey for me, and the 2nd factory version had the wrong dial/date. Are you thinking of doing a Swiss transplant too?
  2. Thanks guys! The date wheel is stock, nice font already, just had it transferred from the old A7750 onto the Swiss ETA7750, I believe Domi used a couple of gears from the A7750 too Also, I wear larger watches than this
  3. Thanks exper! The old case back cracked where the screws went through in a couple of places, maybe I overtightened the screws? Certainly it never happened with the other ceramic Hublots I have owned before.... It's a keeper for sure, although I am out of work right now, so you never know, hopefully I can find a job soon and hold on to my collection! Cheers!
  4. Thanks goes to Domi for his excellent work as always, this simply wouldn't of happened without him! This watch started off as a standard low beat, full gold ceramic Hublot from Mary (see here: ) And after a few tweaks, a new set of H bezel screws, a gold plated display back and the ETA7750 of course, the watch is finally complete and on my wrist, keeping great time and working perfectly! Pictures, click to expand: This is my one and only Hublot, the ceramic case holds up very well to knocks and bumps, and it's likely it will stay that way for a very long time, no tarnishing or rubbed away plating here! The old ceramic case back cracked, and Mary was most helpful and sent out the new plated one, as well as the new screws. I actually prefer it now, the old case back was glossy with coloured font, I think it looks better brushed, and the colour match is excellent What do you guys think? I knew I held on to that ETA7750 for a reason!
  5. I have been tempted to get the date discs changed to true ETA on my Tag, but never bothered, even though the alignment and font style is slightly off on mine, maybe if the two disc hues were different too, like on yours, then I would have the mod done? Yours do have better alignment when compared to mine...... As for the numeral alignment, mine has a few that could be lined up better too, but it doesn't bother me. Over time I have learnt to mellow in regards to the little things wrong with my reps, it was either that, or get out of the hobby altogether!
  6. Thanks for the info, very helpful!
  7. I imagine a new sapphire crystal should be available, just need to take out the existing crystal to get the correct dimensions
  8. It will need a new crystal, at least it will if it bothers you. It's hard to describe, you have to see the crystal first hand really Still a nice watch though, with a great potential, if you want to invest the time, money and effort......
  9. I had one of these, not a bad rep, good for a project, but the crystal distorts at angles, and has no AR, worst part of the watch in fact. If you want to go franken, a new crystal would be the first thing you would need
  10. Why spend more for the same watch? Mary from watch-international is a great dealer, one of the best I have ever purchased from, ask her what movements she can get the watch with, and then buy either the true Swiss ETA version, or the Asian clone movement (Not the Rolex style clone)
  11. It's no mistake, they really are charging the same price for [censored] poor Asian clone Rolex style movements as they do for the Swiss ETA versions, which proves how overpriced the Rolex style movements are...... I guess if peeps are willing to buy them at that silly high price, nothing will change
  12. Steer clear of the Asian clone Rolex "style" movements, they are garbage, well overpriced and will fall apart/break in no short amount of time. The dealers must make a massive profit when peeps buy them, considering they charge the same as Swiss ETA for them, or more in some cases! If I were you I would get the gen ETA version, although it is tricky to guarantee gen ETA these days, in which case the stock Asian clone (without the Rolex style crap) would be the best choice, and save you plenty of $$$ too
  13. Thanks for the info chaps I have used the hand set position pretty much all the time, and only this one watch has given me problems, Domi said to use hand set for 2836's and winding for 2892/3's
  14. I think it was in the hands set position
  15. Don't buy your watches from the "trusted" cartel dealer twins, unless you want to pay higher prices and receive a blind drop ship watch without any QC, simply be prepared to have to post stuff back to them, I did it enough times in the past before I learnt my lesson Buy from the smaller dealers who will take time with your order, and personally select your watches, possibly even sending pictures of the items before delivery if you request them. QC is hard to find in the rep world, but it does exist, and what's more surprising is you can actually end up paying less for a watch than you would from one of the larger dealers, but actually receive a better watch, and fantastic service too Stick around, I am sure if you like watches you will find your way back here anyway. Rep or gen watches, or anything else for that matter, this is still one of the best forum communities you will find...... Cheers!
  16. Hello fellow RWG'ers! I have an ETA2893 based watch, and whenever I remove the crown/stem, they keyless works gets messed up. I have other 28XX based watches, and had a ETA2892 PR watch, and never had any problems with those, not even once. I use the correct tiny screw driver, and make sure to be as delicate as possible, but it always messes up if I remove the crown/stem with this one movement..... Any ideas? I am sure my watchsmith thinks I am a fool, but I can remove the stems on other watches without any problems, so why just this one watch? Are the parts for the keyless works replaceable? I think spending a little cash to replace those parts would fix this once and for all? I really want to be able to remove the crown and stem on this watch when needed without any problems, but that is not happening so far.... Any ideas/input would be greatly appreciated! Cheers!
  17. Has just moved house, boxes everywhere lol

    1. plaifender

      plaifender

good luck with the move buddy!

  18. There you have it, direct from the source!
  19. Have you ever seen his double handed backhand?
  20. The sell a sterile black/blue Sub, and a Deep Sea I prefer the sterile deep sea to the rep or gen even, no silly rehaut engraving!
  21. Thanks! This is my "beater" watch now, although I will probably still keep it near spotless
  22. Lovely pictures, I love AP watches too, thanks for sharing! Care to trade your silver themes for my volcano? Fully serviced via Domi on an APbands strap
  23. Interesting, thanks for the input Seems her ebay prices are listed higher on the "buy it now" option than her website prices. Regarding the movement, it looks gen ETA to me, all the right stamps and markings etc, it's also accurate to a few seconds a day, the rubber O ring was greased too, very nice indeed.... Cheers!
  24. Thanks guys! I think you are right, the fit and finish is exactly the same For watch parts I think they mainly sell PAM stuff, can't hurt to ask though
  25. I like homage/sterile watches, so much easier to wear than a rep, no tells, flaws or inaccuracies, as there is no gen to live up too I noticed helenarou added some Rolex homage watches to their website ( http://www.helenarou.com/ ) and decided to pick up the ETA GMTII ceramic bezel homage watch. Having owned the best rep of this watch, I was surprised at the quality of this watch when it arrived. It is very well put together, that date and date magnifier is particularly nice, well centered with a large font. It is a really well made piece, up there with the rep in terms of quality, the ceramic bezel is identical I brushed the bracelet fully, not a fan of the polished mid links, let me know what you think..... Pictures, keep clicking to expand: I really like this watch, in fact I have been wearing it since I received it a few days ago Thanks very much to helenarou, very helpful, with watches and parts, quick delivery too. The only things I will say is s the watch doesn't have AR, which the website stated it did, not a big problem though and the lume is really weak...... What do you guys think? Yay, or nay?
