Hello,
I'm looking for a case that fits a gen 1570.
I read the thread about the modded MBW case, and I know that a 1570 will fit in it.
But I'm searching for a case that is even better than the MBW.
It must have a correct gas escape valve, like the one RiverwindMBS sold here
some day s ago for 2800 dollar. And it should have the milled crease around the
bottom. Do you know what I mean? It's difficult to explain for me, but the gen Rolex
have a crease at the bottom.
If possible the case should already fitted with a gen tube, crown, crystal and gas escape valve.
If anybody knows something about such a case and where to buy it, please let me know and
write me a PM or add alink in that thread!
Regards
Chris
Chris,
You might check this out 1665, he sells the case kit alone or assembles the piece for you and you supply the mvmt, but it's not cheap. Someone on the forums here must have bought one of these, I don't recall any reviews though, but I do remember reading that it's more accurate than an MBW.
They have some interesting items for sure.
Keep us posted if you pull the trigger.

How do I order ?
any info ?????
Hi P,
Just email (on the Silix-prime website) A&J and tell them what model you want. They're not up on the site yet. It will nice to see the results of what you do with yours!

Thanks for letting us know Neil.
My condolences Reg.

I just got a email with the price of $58.00 + shipping. I am now waiting for the OK to send the money

Well if they're really cheap, it will make buying a correct style CWP bezel/insert less painful

Great job Stingray!
Weathering the dial and hands to balance out the aging, replacing the crown/tube and a gen crystal will go a long way. I'm not too handy myself but with all the great info/how-to's on this forum I managed most those mods with less than a $300 investment in the tools to do the job. The dial and hands I left to The Zigmeister (I'm not that talented), Flav does great work too.
I think the bigger part is the satisfaction you get doing the work yourself.
Here's my MBW DRSD and what was done to it:
PM me if you need help sourcing any parts.

Drop,
I can tell you my last MBW from TTK that I received about a month ago (a WSD) came with hollow mid-links. My two previous MBW's, a 1680 and SRSD from WM came with solid. The end links are also the correct style that come without the springbar cutouts on the underside, but unfortunately they're still marked 503 instead of 580 or 585.
A pleasant surprised to see the accuracy improvement albeit for a newer style buckle on a 93150 bracelet, but then again that's what you would get if the bracelet were replaced by RSC.
Please let us know if this is the case with yours.

Great idea Ubi. You covered a nice range of sizes.
Here are a few larger watches on my puny 6.75" wrist. My .02 is if you like it, wear it. Pulling off a larger frame watch with a smaller wrist is how comfortable you are in it and your attitude about it.
Here's a 47mm Vintage 6152
And a holy crap!... look at the size of that thing PAM 187

TK, that's the best fantasy watch I seen! I agree with Viper the Calif dial seems more suited to that case.
Good lord, now you've got my wheels turning
-
DT, what a great timepiece.
If the U2 was a "Tier 1 brand" model it would be a $4-5k watch. I think Sinn and Oris are some of the best bang for your buck brands out there.
Enjoy it!

this was one of the things that pushed me over the edge -- i feel like this watch is really good relative value. where else can you get a genuine diver rated to 2k meters with a GMT movement for less than $2k?deltatahoe

My FLAVored 036 for Friday

Shawn,
Here a pix of a superdome T19 compared to a replacement T19 model from RSC, which came off of my Tudor Snowflake Sub. As I understand it Rolex used several crystal manufacturers over the years so that's where the variation on Tropic crystals come in, but most of what I've commonly seen on vintage subs are the replacement style T19 you see on the left.
There sure as hell is no mistaking a superdome!
Hey Euno,
Clarks says they're working on their own T19 superdome but not sure of the release date yet.
And the even taller T39 superdome side by side with the T19. Man there is nothing like vintage plexi

The "novelty NASA strap"... where did you source this item?
I just sourced myself a used Gen Moonwatch and would like to accesorize mine as such as well...
Any tips would be appreciated.
Oi,
A gentleman on Timezone custom makes these in several styles, a very nice chap BTW. Deltatahoe did a nice review here: Topic
Here's a direct link to TZ, but it looks like a lot of his hosted pics are down.
It's a fun strap to have on a Speedy -enjoy!

Getting a lot of wrist time in with my 1665 since it is finally done after 9 months.
-
Good to know GG.
Mine has never left the atmosphere either but the nostalgic kid in all of us can still dream. This is my gen with a display back circa 1999 fitted with an older 1171 bracelet and novelty NASA strap.

Great results KKS and nice post.
But now, how can that movement live without a genuine dial
-
Sorry for the hijack, but have you tried these (Milsub hands) Highdef? I almost have a 5517 franken project completed and they're made for ETA mvmts and look very close the real deal (no pix yet
