Yup, great pix By-tor. The entire Explorer line is just a little under the radar.
-
I got off my lazy butt and snapped a pix of the dial, it should look quite nice in the Stingray.
-
Tomorrow, I'm going to scortch my retinas a bit
I swapped out some straps, so it will probably be this pair for the weekend
-
Congrats ahchard,
Wear it around for a while if you're not sure about it. It will grown on you like a weed
A new crystal and insert are two easy mods and major improvements.
-
Carlos,
Neither crown is wrong since the newer 7030 crown is what you would get if it went to RSC, and like alligoat said the 7020 tube is going to cost you $150 or more.
You're going to have a great watch, keep us posted on the progress.

Vaccum does an amazing job! Thanks for sharing.

Nice Diz, thanks for sharing!

Here's a crown that I ran across on ebay. I don't know what you'd do about a case tube to fit though.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewI...s_promot_widget
And you can't beat the price, so far.
Alli,
I agree, the tube is the key here. It might be worth finding out if a new 6mm tube fits if the price is right on this crown
-
You would also need to add to the list a "coin edge" bezel. I have seen coin edge bezel/insert for sale but NOT cheap ..look here.....

Would any of these fit the Silix Bond Sub?
What is the correct crystal for the Silix Bond sub?
Don't waste your time guys, the CWP bezel assembly doens't fit the Silix case
, the case is wider than the bezel all around.
I tried a Tropic 18 in the case (some say it takes a T17??? I'm not sure) but it's too small and falls right out, the crystal would have to be glued.
I purchased an 8mm Brevet crown & tube from DSN for this purpose and I'm pretty sure it could be fitted (may take some work), the tube is considerably thicker and a new hole will have to be drilled and tapped. The one thing I'm not sure how about is how flush it would sit against the case, I haven't meausured the case to know how much room there is to countersink a hole for the tube to sit flush.

I met him by accident (or luck) once. I should've punched him when I had the chance. Stupid me. His shop is virtually impossible to find, but, for the right price, it can be found by asking the locals.
Only punch him Euno -with all the "heat" you pack in your briefcase daily
I should have guessed these were from the same guy that made the vintage SM300.

Nice choice my friend, I was thinking the same thing for tomorrow
-
Great pix as usual Pug and thanks!

Alligoat,
I think you may be right, the CG's look don't look right. The font on seems wrong too under the DR lines.

153,
The FF is a classic divers icon.
There are some one-offs out there but nothing by our dealers. Jewelryandwatch.com had one FS in the "Special Offers" newsletter I get from them for $950
, I think his cases are all of Vietnam.
Bill Yao of MkII Watches also makes a homage FF (called the Stingray) watch that you can customize and Enzo at one time over at RWI was offering FF dials he had made up, but they may all be gone??? I lucked out and bought one of the dials in the member trade area and will someday drop it into a MkII Stingray. I'll try to post up a pix soon of the dial.
Good luck!

TDA,
Use 400, 600, 800 and then 1000 and finish up as By-Tor said with rouge/paste -a dremel tool works fine.
-
Congrats to both, it's well deserved!

Not only is your choice of watch and strap impeccable, but so are your diner tastes, Chubbchubb! Yes, indeed, Johnny Rockets in Lincoln Road.
P.S.: Drat, I knew that TR-6 answer too. Ah well, anyone care to guess which hamburger speciality I had?
Here's a hint: it's a song title too!
That would be a Route 66
I know my burgers!

Did someone say Rolex
The 2nd from the left for me today

Euno,
Great to see you back around, I forgot to mention how great your previous daily carry pix were!
I hope you're doing well sir.

The top one today

The crowns are not too hard to find I see them on eBay pretty regularly, but the tubes are the tough part to find or the cheapest I've seen for them for is $150 from some retailers.

I find the strap easier to secure with the ring at the 6 o'clock postion.
Yes, my bars were heavy duty too.
