  1. hi all,

some of you know already that i had for the last years the pvd service.

i work together with a worldwide well known local pvd company.

now my service is started again and the pvd company built for me a special pvd attachment-rack.

this is not a standard pvd coating as you maybe know, which are provided by many pvd companies.

this coating color is a special dark anthracite with a special bead blasting process.

the employees are briefed for this special case-type.

1.) some case-part areas will be protected with a special protection material, that no blasting comes on these areas.

    2.) 2 step blasting - special granulate bead / glass-ceramic bead

3.) cleaning of the case single parts with a special wash liquor.

4.) insert of the case parts in the attachment rack.

5.) special pvd machine settings for the dark anthracite coating.

    6.) pvd coating process

    7.) final inspection

the pvd coating is a very special procedure, also the 2 step bead blasting process influenced the positive requested result.

see my last pvd coating, which is made in the last 3 weeks.

    so

  3. i think you have to produce also the case-tube for this crown.

when you order a gen crown you get always a case-tube together.

so you need also the measurements of the case-tube with inside gasket.

    Hi RWG poeple

long time i was away from RWG and had no time for my customers. I am sorry but i was very busy.

I am working on the new "spring loaded" T48 crowns. The 0.9mm crowns are OK but i have a small problem with the 1.2mm crowns

The tube on the rep case is 2.0 mm only (i have a sample case from PURETIME). A spring loaded crown is not available for a small diameter in 2.0mm.

My question: are all rep case tube have a inner diameter of 2.0mm? Any other tubes existing? How much are the inner diameter of the tubes from DSN and other dealers?

We would have 2 options to solve the problem:

    1. all customers need to refinish the inner diameter of the tube to 2.2mm

    2. I need to produce new tubes coming with the crowns

option 1 is very badly but option 2 would make all more expensive.

some ideas how we could solve the problem?

  4. the plexi shows a brass-ring,

that means this is a special made armed-plexiglass made by sternkreuz, germany.

this brass or bronze ring is for a better tightness.

Hey Rolli - nice to see this amzing piece again as I have been thinking about it a bit recently and studying the original dial in particular ;)

It's very unusual ,like an 001B , but with gilt dial text and a bronze ring around the circumference

Looking at the depth the hands extend across the numerals, it looks the same as normal dials , so makes me think the diameter of this dial including the bronze edge that remains on show, is larger than the regular 34.5mm.

To achieve this effect, the interior of the case must be machined to a greater diamater than standard cases....so another interesing challenge to consider

Your PVD and plexi are amazing though looking at the gen images

    Great work as always

  5. Love it Rolli, but I think you knew that already good.gif

thanks friends for your kind words.

yes i knew it already for ca. 3 years.

for my slob project only the thought inspired me, pam case and the color aged bronze and the fascination to do it was born.

i knew it couldn't became a 1:1 result, but for me it wasn't so important.

only important was a aged bronze pam case.

so which further parts i would need.

crown, plexi glass, dial / hands, caseback, movement.

i started with an old titanium case and with a dark aged bronze pvd coating.

a local plexi glass factory produced a plexi with the right measurements for me.

plap crowns are always in my spare part box.

a davidsen blank solid titanium caseback and a necessary gravure template for the right marking made by a local engraver,

and the slob caseback was born. you know everything need a name.

    first i used a 111 sandwhich dial, later a 111E dial.

but all these dials had a thickness of 0,9 mm and normally for this case type i would have to use a 0,5mm dial.

but no dial in 0,5mm available, so i used a 0,9mm dial. in reality no good solution.

fortunately fish-go-deep produced dials with the right thickness, 0,5mm - 0,6mm thickness, perfect.

and additional with a fantastic look.

so... recently my watchmaker installed the new dial.

the result is great and everlasting happiness on my side !!!!!!!!!!!

so...friends.....these were a few words for this theme.

have a great time on this board

  7. dear friends,

with regard to my bruno strap production i have decided to introduce a new dealer section called

--- RR STRAPS - Spirit of Artisan ----

as well many thanks for the first warm welcome in this new section.

many of you will ask oneself what he is doing on this place ???

it's not a new job, i have a geat job, strap making it is an additional passion

which i've studied for the last two years with all appropriate and consequent results.

i've also studied the leather fabrication in tanneries in ponte a egola and santa croce / italy,

where we buy our vegetable tanned leather assortment.

our straps, based on my ideas and devopments, will be produced by italian bracelet artisans.

as you know already, the bruno straps are completed, and parallel different prototype and testing-phase straps

are ready for a first preview.

it is intended to produce them in different series and lines with a high degree of professionality.

please...... still a bit patience, a first preview will come as soon as possible.

now you will find the bruno straps here.

    http://www.rwgforum.com/forum/255-rr-straps-spirit-of-artisan/

    all the best

    and

    with kind regards

    rolli

  8. today my watchmaker had the same t-crown problem but with the davidsen 028 pvd crown-guard.

one interesting and practicable solution was the answer.

step 1.) first he did take some glue points and checked how much need to be inside the recess of the t_crown till the contact of the lever would be perfect.

step 2.) he did take a black plastic piece and did grind down this plate to the perfect diameter and thickness till he had a round black plastic plate in his hand which had the absolutely perfect shape to press it into the recess of the t-crown.

step 3.) crown-guard installed, target reached

  9. hi garrett,

for sure you can use the gold color pvd coating, but it's not a real gold and you know it's the absolute cheapest possibility for a gold color.

for a gold color i prefere always the real gold plating procedure.

and i have all possibilities to decide the final color and the thickness.

my 201 gold was made with a top plating procedure with a basic coating and a thick final 750 fine gold plating, and this is very robust, and looks like a full gold pam.

i used a special company for that special thick gold plating process.

read the basic page on this topic.

    rolli

    Rolli,

How has the plating held up over time and usage?

I was thinking of a similar project myself, but wanted to use a titanium nitride base (pvd) followed by gold plating.

    Thanks for the info,

    Garrett
