  1. you have to use the distance ring and upper plate which is on top of the asia 7750b1.

because the inner measurement of the gmt case is too deep.

all gen swiss 7750 and following valjoux movts, also the 7754 have H1 hand-gear-length.

but with the asia distance ring you need minimum H5 length.

eta build valjoux movts only with H1 length.

with H1 length you cannot put the hands on the hand-gears.

and you cannot use the asia hand-gears in the swiss 7754.

and by the way this makes no sense.

forget all mods with rep gmt pams.

    rolli

    Why won't the 7754 fit?

  2. i've got mine from sead direct.

but my watchmaker did install this CG with my 205A.

but with a very small bend-reworking to the 205A case.

and he did a little bit drill out the holes and reduced the screw-heads in the diameter for a better scope.

with this sead crown-guard i've checked the davidsen 027 case today evening.

    and no probelm. perfect.

    rolli

I got mine straight from nembo on Repgeeks, there is no way it will fit my 027a, half a hole is too much of an alignment discrepancy! :p

  3. destro = right hander,

destro in connection with a pam is a right hander pam, crown-guard on the left side of the pam.

    pre-v = pre vendome.

richemont group had the name before vendome, and as vendome they bought the panerai company,

later they changed the name to richemont group.

all pam models which were built by original panerai italy are called pre-vendome.

    177H / I / J / K = production or release year. = A: 1998, B: 1999, C: 2000, D: 2001, E: 2002, F: 2003, G: 2004, H: 2005, I: 2006, J: 2007, K:2008

    see this database: http://www.paneristi.com/reference/sortable_database/millestimation.html

I am not comfortable with not knowing what so many Panerai terms mean. So may we start a glossary? Maybe sticky it? If you have something you think will be a good addition or need something explained, please post it up.

What does Destro mean? Pre-V (I know its vendome, but whats that?)

What are the letters designating? 177H/I/J/K/etc..

I can update this 1st post with a running glossary unless someone has a link to one already done? We need something.

  4. swiss made is swiss quality and asia made is asia quality.

there is a big difference in terms of material and processing quality.

    it need no explanation.

How do you compare the ETA and soprod PR module (DSN 27/28/57) and whatever the low cost Asian PR movement that is used on $100 PR watches (like at getat?) I am assuming that the PR indicator does work properly on the other Asian movement. I think most on the forum think that Asian built 6497s are really robust and that there is a blur of Asian and Swiss for the 6497.

Will the asian PR movements crap out on you or are they legit as well? Let me know what the real considerations are between the two.

    Thanks!

  5. i think the cartel watch maker did copy the valjoux 7751, this one with moonphase etc etc.

    rolli

Wonder why they have just never copied the ETA 775X movements instead of modifying the hell out of the 7750. They share the same base ebauche, are the same size and are interchangeable with one another. Just sounds like they have engineered everything backwards. Think how much work from their end had to go into turning a 7750 into a 7753. Granted some functions like quick date change on the 7753 are not interchangeable, most of the other parts are. Now the work they have done regarding moving seconds to 6 or 12, is understandable as they have the same limitations as every other Swiss manufacture regarding costs associated with R&D.

  6. i could buy a vanus 175 stem with 1,2mm thread from a local distritbutor,

this stem is the right one for the seagul venus 175.

i don't know whether you can get this stem also with 0,9 mm thread.

i needed the 1,2mm thread stem for the palp crown.

note: some members name this movement also lemania.

    rolli

I need the stem size for the hand wind Lemania Asian movement.

    Does it take a T48 or T 60 crown - .09 or 1.2

    Anybody?

    Thanks.

  7. with the cartel ultimate automatic pams there is no problem to swap a swiss 7750.

the asia 7750 have the same measurements like the gen 7750.

the inner mesuremets of the cases are perfect for the swiss 7750.

my watchmaker did it with the 229 firenze. perfect result.

submersible pams like the 24 is also to use for this swap.

also here my watchmaker did it with my 024A submersible.

and with the 253 he did this modification, perfect result.

    davidsen auto pams.

davidsen uses the old asia 7750b1 movement for his standard automatic pams like 104, 164, 240, 165, 091.

this old asia movement is taller in the measurement and has the ugly distance ring on top,

no swap possibility and sunken date wheel.

otherwise you would use the longer asia gears, but this is not to recommend. you don't have the presise swiss technology effect.

only the new power reserve models 027,028 have a gen swiss movement inside.

    rolli

Thank you for the information Rolli. You seem to know quite a bit about the rep PAM cases. Are the rep PAM automatics always thicker (taller) than the genuine ones? Or do they make up for the height of the case, needed for Asian 7750, by cutting down on the height of the bezel? I've also noticed that on the DSN autos his case back protrudes below the bottom of the case more than other reps.

  8. i have two vajoux 7754 gmt movements in my stock.

two years ago i had the same idea to built-in this movement in one of my gmt pam.

    but it's not possible.

the gmt rep pams have inside the old asia7750b1 movement.

it has a taller measurement as the gen ones and the inner measurements of the cases are deeper constructed.

the asia7750b1 have on top an additional ring, that's why also the date wheel is sunken.

so my watchmaker thought to use and to install the asia upper metal-plate with the distance-ring on the swiss 7754.

    result, it did fit.

but all swiss hand gears are too short, because the asia upper-plate with distance-ring together with the swiss 7754

has the asia measurement for the gmt case, but too tall for the shorter swiss hand gears.

to use the asia hand gears in the 7754 is not recommendable. then you don't have the swiss effect anymore.

some talkings with the eta production chief brought the result, there is no possiblity to get longer hand gears for the 7754 gmt movement.

eta produce the 7754 only with h1 hand gear length.

for a special custom order the quantity has to be minimum 10.000 sets.

so for me this gmt project to swap a 7754 was dead.

ca. 6 weeks ago i've started a second attempt to get information about the new asia ultimate gmt cases in terms of the inner measurements.

in connection with precious time i started the request direct to the maker of the ultimate gmt pams.

also a technical drawing was sent to the maker to get this information about the inner measurements.

the result, same old measurements which is too deep for the swiss 7754 gmt.

so also the new attempt was dead.

  9. the 040 caseback is from davidsen.

i know the serial numbers are wrong for this 040 model.

i had no plan to make a new caseback with correct serial numbers.

    maybe later.

    rolli

Did you ever end up getting the case back engraved? I've been working in Illustrator designing a caseback, but for the life of me, I can't find a font to match the serial (B xxx / 200)

  10. that means, they lie......as always.

    rolli

Well based on my observations with my avitt DLC coated blacksteel, which has yet to pick up a scratch, and the rep V2 version which scratched up on the clasp and case after a couple of days, I would say there are varying qualities in the coatings used, whatever they may actually be ;)

It is interesting that the twins list the V2 blacksteel Skyland differently:

Perfect clones: "Blacken Surface Treatment to same shade and tone as Genuine....Antidust and Finger Print, Same Process as Genuine"

Trustytime: "Blackened Surface Treatment to same shade and tone as genuine (Anti Dust & Finger Print) - Process similar to genuine"

Make of that what you will :p

Either way, I am sure the PVD coatings used in replicas will always scratch up faster than the coatings the genuine watches use, it will be no different for this Ferrari replica, even if the some dealers say it is exactly the same process, and others do not.....

    Cheers! B)

  11. also in asia to get a dlc coating is commonly not a problem.

many companies for this kind of coatings have the special machines for dlc coating.

it's a standard coating for tools and industry products coatings.

    everything is possible.

but the main question is.... is that another lie from the dealer.

    rolli

Probably PVD, I doubt all of the dealers DLC claims after having avitt's true DLC coating on a couple of my watches ;)

The pink may be red, this dealer's pictures are rubbish as usual.....
