  1. what are you looking for the watch or the dial?
  2. This should have a Pre-G Ti CG....that no one makes....DSN is the only one that make a decent Ti CG right now......DSN's other Ti CG is too thick and would not look correct for the "D" Toro tried, but did not make it because apparently he could not get the Ti color correct, and the Cartel Ti CGs are not really good. Unless you want to hold out for a GEN Ti Pre-G Cg to come along....but were talking big bucks and long wait time. what are you getting a new spring-loaded T-48 Ti crown
  3. The best REP is a GEN but seriously....I would have to say a WM9 BK YM is very close
  4. I'm not sure I buy that...all my watches including GEN and REP Rolex and Panerai auto movements wind in the same direction (clockwise, when you are looking straight at the crown)...and I have plenty with A7750, 2836, 2824, 2893, Rolex 3135....all wind by turning the crown clockwise when the crown is in the #1 position (unscrewed). I don't have any DG movements to compare. Now...when you adjust the hour...that is a different story....even in the GEN Rolex movements 3135 adjusts the hour/min hand by turning the crown clockwise...whereas 3035 movement adjustment is made by turning the crown counterclockwise.
  5. Do you have anything cracked like Traktor scratch or Serato Scratch for Macbook Pro Intel based?
  6. As a immigrant that came to the US on the Cuban Freedom Flights in 1970, my family and I have lived and experienced life under a repressive radical regime...so I have a very unique experience of what "Liberty" and "Freedom" really feels like compared to the opposite. I am a US citizen since the 70's, and as a child I remember taking the oath to Honor and Defend this land, though I was not born here...this is the country that raised me and has provided for me, and I will defend it until death against any enemy foreign or domestic...and the tradition of serving this country continues with my son who is currently serving in the Navy and back from a tour in Afghanistan. We as Americans are no where near perfect, but this country provides something that very few others do....we provide freedom, tolerance and opportunity for anyone to become the best that they can be....where any dirt poor immigrant can get a college degree and go on to be CEO of a corporation....it can and does happen here in America....few countries can say the same. My hope on this day, every year, is that ALL people around this globe realize that what happened on September 11th was not only an attack on America....but much more so...it was an attack on "Freedom", "Liberty" and the way of life that all free people should strive for....liberty and freedom of expression, freedom of Religion...Even to NOT believe in a Religion...and not have to fear of being put to death! These religious backwards radicals could have very well flown those planes in Parliament, Eiffel Tower, the Kremlin, etc. And specifically our Muslim brothers need to rise up and be more vocal and proactive against the radical and middle-ages mentality that has hi-jacked their religion. Radical and extremist views from any religion has been the cause of so many deaths throughout the centuries.....I wonder sometimes if humanity would be better off if organized religion was never invented? No other organized institution has caused more polarization and deaths over centuries than organized religion. You can be spiritual and believe in a higher being....but what we have to fight against is when that mentality is organized into a large mass and then hi-jacked to serve the cause of warped individuals...religion then becomes a weapon, and the weak minded individuals are it's bullets and bombs. So on this day, I mourn for all those folks in NYC, Pennsylvania & DC that perished because of the continued radicalization of religion...I mourn for the very fact that there are countries and individuals around the world that continue to be brain-washed (even as children) by the teachings of their radical leaders....teachings from warped men that interpret religious texts to serve their own warped purposes. Sorry for the rant...I'll get off my soap box now....
  7. I was told that not many of the main parts are swappable because one is a high beat and other a low beat? were you about to swap the balance spring and balance bridge plate?
  8. I'm calling around tomorrow to see the local price for HP 18yr
  9. Chief....thanks for the Youtube link....$45 for the 12yr HP seems very good price....I'm debating whether to try the 18yr or the 12yr first?
  10. No problems at all with my PT 1680. My Trusty 1680 did have that damaged plastic washer, but Andrew's (Trusty) customer service and email response was A+ and he had the factory send me a brand new case and bezel! I can build another 1680! The 1680 from Andrew is off to JMB getting a custom crystal retaining ring, a GEN triplock crown/case tube and fat springbars.....these were things I was going to get done anyways. As with any REP, there are always mods that you will want to get done depending on your level of detail....some will wear the watch as it is a very good REP, others want to take their REP to the next level with GEN parts, etc. It's all part of this hobby and it is what makes collecting REPs 10x better than collecting GEN watches. So, Andrew's customer response was awesome, and I would recommend him highly.
  11. I know they have nothing to do with each other....but you cannot deny that they offer about 99% exactly the same product (maybe with small mods sometimes)....they almost may as well be related to each other and help each other to control the REP watch market. I have yet to see something that Andrew comes out with that PT also has and vice versa. Same with Josh at perfect clones. Then you have small specialty guys like River, Mary, King, Phong, MBK, Yuki etc. Davidsen is in a whole nother ballpark with his custom Panerai. But Andrew and PT both offer just about the same stuff.
  12. I have a PT and a Trusty 1680....I did notice that the PT 1680 comes with the drilled lugs and fat springbars....but my 1680 from Trusty did not, even though they were exactly the same watch....probably Trusty will get on the ball soon since it seems him and PT are almost identical sites.
  13. That guy is great.....now I gotta go out and buy me a couple of those glasses. I checked out the Highland Park 12yr at one of my local stores, it was $62....is that a good price? Is the older one better?
  14. Good point....I thought if it came from Scotland it was called "Scotch"...everywhere else is called "Whiskey"?
  15. Yes...I would water to taste or throw maybe 1 or 2 small ice cubes...that cask strength is pretty wicked stuff.
  16. www.yourtrustytime.com he is supposed partners with Josh (perfect clones).....basically, what one has the other has the same...though I only order Swiss Eta versions of the watches my experience has been A+ with Andrew....just manage your expectations...they are not Macy's or Goodyear.
  17. here's what I have read: SIMPLE REGULATING If your watch loses or gains a few seconds per day (remember, there are 86,400 seconds in 24 hours), you can correct it without expert aid. The rate of a watch varies slightly depending upon its position. Take it off at night and place it as follows: TO GAIN A FEW SECONDS: Lay your watch flat with the dial uppermost TO LOSE A FEW SECONDS: Lay the watch vertically with the winding-button downwards TO LOSE RATHER MORE SECONDS: Lay the watch vertically with the winding-button uppermost TO KEEP WATCH WITHOUT LOSING/GAINING SECONDS (if this is possible) Place watch in proper automatic winder position....45 degree facing toward you
  18. Just to follow up in this thread.......I don't know if it's a new policy over at Trustytime (Andrew).....but Andrew came through in flying colors.....I emailed him about the damaged bezel washer.....and what does he tell the factory to do? Send me a brand new case and bezel assembly! Awesome!!! A+ follow up customer service!!! He has earned more of my future business!
  19. Place the watch dial down every night...I think that is the method, to gain some seconds without actually adjusting....or is it dial up?
  20. very cool find...looks like the movement and hand set are there....too bad he didn't dupe the case as well...then again, Rolex would have probably been all over him where have you seen them 2nd hand...fleabay?
  21. the 2893-2 and 2836 differ in thickness by 1mm or so.....so a thicker DW overly and a taller CP & hour wheel would be required for the 2893-2 to swap into a current REP Rolex case that houses a 2836-2.......there are guys like (WM9) that produce Rolex cases that can use a 2824, 2892 and 3035/3135 movement...just not a 1655 case is there a taller CP & hour wheel options for the 2893?
  22. Alli....I agree that the 2836 is a reliable movement, but I don't particulary think the rigging of the parts to turn the 2836 into a GMT is all that great....and the biggest thing is the freely adjustable GMT hand....when we all know the GMT hand on 2893-2 and Rolex movements adjust by hour.....making the 2893-2 more realistic replacement. I think that particular difference between the 2836-2 and the 2893-2 makes a world of difference....the 2893-2 is a true GMT movement and will probably give less headaches as time goes by. Also, the finer quality finish of the 2893-2 compared to the 2836/2824 is noticeable when you wind a 2893/2892....it feels closer to winding feel of a 3035 or 3135 movement. The 2893-2 is not that much more expensive to a 2836. The main problem is the 2893 being so much thinner than 2836....so it's no where near a direct swap.
  23. Yeah, I've been checking those OCTO watches.....but it seems the seller is bidding up the price at the end, then if you don't bid up he sends you a second chance offer after the auction....his second chance was $68.00 + $6 for shipping...this was for the cheap leather OCTO with the 2846.....I declined. some folks say that the watch will usually sell for $50
