  1. I had to laugh...when you're right, you're right....you know your cold advice and insight is always welcome. Well, I purchased a LH CG couple months again, then I pleaded with him to make a Pre-G CG and mentioning the amount of sales he could have due to the many Reps that are out there in need of an accurate CG. "As we know, from G series onwards, Panerai changed the crown guard to follow the specs of the pre-v models (like 5218-201/A), where it is brushed, and thicker in the centre. Before the G series (pre-G), the crown guard was thinner and in polished finishing (except the lever, which is in brushed bed-blast finishing)." On the left is the B series PAM112 with the polished crown guard, On the right is the G series PAM112 with brused crown guard: On the top is the B series PAM112, At the bottom is the G series PAM112 (crown guard is thicker in the centre):
  2. In this bad economy....there are always rogue machine shops that will run a one-time batch for $$...the task is to ask around until one is willing to commit to look at the CG
  3. Since Clark's is supposedly made to Genuine specs.....then...if one were to use a Gen or closer to Gen dial (Phong, Yuki, NDT, ingod44)...shave off the feet so the dial can go on a 2846 or 2836 movement....then a proper datewheel overlay would be needed to line up the date window (like fxrandy use to source) Would all of this come together to a lined up DW & Cyclops?
  4. My previous post on this: Q: when dealing with acrylic crystals w/cyclops....does the numbering designate a purpose, like the position of the cyclops? Are all 25-xxx crystals the same diameter? The reason I'm asking is I have 2 cartel 1680's, one with the REP and one with the Clark 127 crystal...on both, the cyclops looks slightly shifted to the right....so it is not completely centered over the DW opening.....not to mention the additional issue with the DW numbers "11" to "19" being sightly shifted towards the left in the window, other numbers line up pretty well.... so, is this a crystal issue? a dial/window issue? DW issue?.....can different model number crystal/cyclops solve the problem? Does anyone have this issue with their cartel 1680's? And would a getting a different 25-xxx solve this issue? 25-116 25-127 25-125 Finally.....with regards to the Clark 127 and the REP crystal, I'm not seeing any optical difference...only thing is the CC has that nice bevel along the top edge....but I'm still not getting the cyclops centered on either.
  5. maybe Double Sided Scotch Tape....the clear type, my wife uses it for scrap booking photos onto paper....cut the tape in whatever shape or piece you want. The key is to use a tape that has the proper thickness, not too thick so the dial is too separated from the DW.
  6. Pete.........the moron factor increases when member's ego grow larger than their Egi's paramount to any group or club....is humbleness and humility to accept others that are not like oneself...
  7. Usually the remedy is a shallow dish crown...I believe T now sells both
  8. S....just replying toeLuibaka and PeteM comments which refer to a GEN 127 caseback........I know you are not looking for such.
  9. Good luck with that....who in their right mind is going to part out a GEN 127 Fiddy?....to sell the caseback?
  10. Thanks for all your info.....I think I'm going to stay away from GEN 1655 Vintage dials, only because of the cost and some of the ones I have seen look like crap.....and the new 1655 service dial and hands looks nice....but also expensive....maybe a future add-on? Stilty,...I'm a bit hesitant about the information you posted regarding Phong's case and the dial rehaut......I just picked up a Mark 2 (frog foot) dial from Ingod44 which he lists as being 26.5mm in diameter...it seems to be printed on a "Beyeler Geneve" dial which is an authorized maker of GEN Rolex dials....so is the GEN 1655 dial 27.3mm or can it also be 26.5mm as Ingod lists? I do have a Phong dial to compare, and it measures 27.4mm diameter...you say the GEN 1655 dial is 27.3mm diameter..or this can vary? So, when I asked Phong....he only says the his 1655 case fits all 100% GEN parts and dials.....and when I asked Ingod, he says that his dials should fit Phong's case with no problem. Is everyone right?....and will Ingod's dial present in Phong's case with no problem?.....or should I contact Phong for better case measurement? I want to thank everyone for all your help with this! JD
  11. I would say so...just be sure it's not one of those russian version of the 7734
  12. I already have given my contribution to Rolex in the form of GEN Explorer II and Gold Bubble Back..plus a number of other GEN Breitlings and UN watches. This one is for myself...and honestly I don't wanted to spend $10K on a vintage GEN1655.....when I can get a respectable similar for a 1/4 of the price...and it does have a Rolex movement....which is the most important part to me....AND...I can say that I had some part in putting the thing together. Try building a used '66 Corvette without using any aftermarket replica parts.....
  13. I have only contacted him through Ebay....waiting to hear back from him tomorrow...I try to get email and forward to you.
  14. apparently Beyeler is a company Rolex subcontracted to produce dials for them...or at least that's what this guys says... http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Gold-Diamond-String-Ruby-Dial-President-/400158597749?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d2b4fa275
  15. Let me know how it goes....cause that's one of the issues I'm seeing with the current cartel 1680....another one is that the cyclops of the clark crystal does not line up directly over the window...
  16. JMB did a great job in custom milling a bezel retention ring over the Clark crystal...and got rid of that plastic washer rig the cartels are using. The bezel spins just like GEN ....I know the bezel insert is not correct...but it looks cool with the vintaged pearl....instead of that plastic one that suppose to go there.
  17. thanks Kent.......I'm kinda learning as I go about Rolex movement, so obviously I'm going to assume that more rubies are better?...what's the benefit to gain over my current single rubie disc seat? is there a model number on yours like 7963 or 7956?...like these: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250656055078&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT what are you asking for it?
  18. You have a photo?....from what I understand from Stilty....there is a date seat that has 3 rubies?
  19. Thanks Freddy.....I'm trying to determine now whether Ingod44 dial (26.5mm wide) will look correct inside a Phong case (I emailed him).......I know that Phong & NDT dials run a little wider, 27.3mm....and they have a little more space between the markers and the dial edge compared to Ingod's. But Indog's the only one that has that cool Mark 2 dial. Are the GEN dials 26.5mm, like Ingod's?
  20. Sorry for necro-post.....but would anyone know if ingod44 dial (26.5mm wide) will fit correctly in Phongs 1655 case set? I believe Phong's dials, like NDTrading dials are 27.3mm. I know both fit the 1570 movement...but it seems that Phong and NDT provide little bit more diameter on the dial edge compared to Ingod's dial...you can even tell by the comparison of the dials. So is the GEN Rolex dial 26.5 like Ingod's....because Ingod seems to refer that he remakes the dial on actual Rolex blank?

  22. Thanks Red....but from what I gather, The Zigmeister is a very wanted man with a long wait list.......and I'm down in Florida....there are some local guys I believe. The place I was going to take it to supposedly gives a free evaluation and they provide photos and history write up of the service....I'm not sure if it's more gimmick than anything, but I do know they provide watch service to many high end jewelry stores in the city.
  23. Thanks....I have only come across one seller of New 1655 Genuine Service dial and hand set...the guys is asking $1800 If anyone has any leads, let me know.
