  1. Just got my M7 and thought I would do a quick review. The watch is very nice. The case is somewhat heavier than a 44 mm PAM, but it wears about the same. The polishing on the case is excellent. I would like to have seen a better quality finish between the lugs, but that is a minor issue. There have been some posts on the Lumtec forums about the strap cutout between the lugs being off center. My watch seems to suffer from this malady too. I tend to wonder if this is a issue with all of the cases. It really isn't noticeable and doesn't both me. I do think a watch of this quality should have a screw down crown, but that is also a minor issue. The lume on the dial is outstanding, as you would expect it to be. The finish is very smooth and it has a pleasant light cream/off white color that looks excellent with the black arabics and hands. The crystal is sapphire with double AR. It has a purple tint reminiscent of most PAM reps. It is effective and will hopefully be durable. I am not sure about the origin of the movement. I assume it is Japanese. The finishing is ok. The second hand does have a slight stutter. I assume the watch is beating at 21,600 bph. I have not had the watch long enough to time it. Last but not least, the leather strap does not do the watch justice. It is not thick enough for a watch of this size and in my opinion, it is not of the highest quality. I replaced it immediately. My rubber strap was missing, so I can't comment on the quality of it.
  2. The price looks right and it is NIB. I know Rob. He is a good guy. http://www.network54.com/Forum/246582/message/1266581163/FSOT-++Never+Worn+Rolex+Seadweller+%93DeepSea%94+116660+-+%26quot%3BV%26quot%3B+serial
  3. I have one incoming. Hopefully it will be here tomorrow. It's one diver I that have never owned, but I have always wanted one. Marty
  4. It had to be the warranty card with the case back. TZ is pretty strict about that kind of stuff. It amazes me that they let all of the homage pieces go without issue.
  5. A couple of dials, at least one case, CG's ... I think is was Mayer Jewelers. It was nice stuff.

  9. I have one in good used condition. PM me for details. Thanks. Marty
  10. The watch was produced in Jan 2005. I personally know the seller. The crystal is original to the watch. I am 100% sure it was not swapped out. Marty
  11. My M7 is finally ready and incoming this week. I would prefer one of the date models. If anyone would like to trade their M6 or M8, please let me know. Thanks. Marty
  12. If you are looking for a gen Seamaster, you are closer to $1000 than $1500. $1500 should get you in the game for a Planet Ocean. As far as the rep vs. gen argument, if you can afford it, I would go with a gen every time. As nice as Bk's YM is, you are still getting a rep with an unserviced ETA movement that not many watchmakers will want to mess with (not to mention potential parts availability problems), a case and bracelet of unknown quality steel, a bezel that in my experience, is way too loose and a date wheel overlay that even if aligned correctly (I have see seen and handled more than one BK YM that was not) can move over time. You just won't have these issues with a gen Omega. Just my $0.02 ...
  13. Maybe mine is mineral then. There is little to no distortion. The odd thing is that a drop of water beads on the crystal like it is sapphire for sure.
  14. Cats, Maybe some of the other owners can chime in, but I don't think the pin is recessed, as much as the hands are designed that way. Marty
  15. Sorry for the crappy indoor pics. We got another foot and a half of snow today, so no outdoor pics So ... is a gen RXW MM20 worth twice as much as a modded DSN fiddy? I would say yes and no. Yes in that you do get a better made watch with a Swiss movement, no in that the Panerai purist will hate this much as much as your modded rep fiddy. Some observations about the MM20. I think the case work is better than what DSN offers. The level of finish is better and then screw bars, which have screws at both ends, are nicer. I am using screw spring bars because of strap changes. The finish on the CG is nicer and it has beefier screws. The lever is as floppy as any on rep. I am tempted to fix it, but the pin is recessed so nicely, I don't want to mess with it. The crown is more like a regular PAM crown. It is slightly thinner and larger. It makes winding easier. The CG lever just keeps it from being pulled out when the crown is in the winding position (closed) . It does not apply any real pressure. You can tell that there are some significant gaskets in the crown tube. You do feel resistance when winding and setting the watch. I am not sure what the water resistance of the watch is. The crystal seems to be sapphire (using the scientific water drop test). I do not believe it is AR coated. If it is, the AR must be close to colorless. The distortion is very low. Much better than on any rep I have handled. I have had fiddy's with EL and Rex mineral, as well as DSN sapphire crystals. This crystal is far superior. The dial and hands are perfect. No flaws or imperfection. The dial and hands are superluminova. They glow as brightly as the Vac lumed fiddy that I recently sold. The movement is a gen Swiss Unitas 6497. It winds smoothly and keeps accurate time. Not sure what else to say. If anyone has any questions please ask away.
  16. I have a very nice vintaged case back in the mail as we speak and I agree with you on the crown. Here are the updated pix of the crown.
  17. I think it looks great, but in my opinion, the crown and case back should have much more wear (given what the rest to the watch looks like).
  18. I did the same thing. It's a great watch. I am going to shoot some pics and do a mini review later on.
  19. Not sure, but when you look at his box and accessories, long with the watch itself, you can see Panerai's point. I think Ken caught their ire because he is in Japan where they could sue vs. China, where they can't.
  20. I am thinking about getting one for my wife.
  21. PMWF or MBW with acrylic pearl installed is the way to go. The PMWF insert is not cheap, but in my opinion, it is far superior to the others out there.
  22. It just keeps getting better and better http://www.footsforecast.org/
  23. Ok, one bad pic to hold everyone over until tomorrow
