  1. That is a good insert and pearl combo
  2. http://forums.watchuseek.com/showthread.php?t=368317
  3. The case is brushed SS. The donor watch, from DSN, incorrectly uses a titanium case.
  4. Complements of Drulee
  5. Shoot me your email address when you get a chance. Thanks. Marty
  6. You need to widen the inside diameter of the bezel slightly. I did this with sandpaper wrapped around a wooden dowel. The bezel should press down on the crystal with some effort, but it should not be so hard that you need to crank down on it with a bezel/crystal press (assuming you have one). I would try installing the crystal without cement first, as you should not need it.
  7. Thanks for the input. I figured as much. It's the total lack of communication that confuses me. When I was inquiring about getting the work done and the prices, Kent's emails were prompt and professional. You would think a simple "hey, I have your watch, but I am backed up" would not be hard to do. It is a simple relume of a Seiko diver. Guess I will get it back when I get it back Marty
  8. I sent a watch to Kent a month ago. Paid the deposit, had a space reserved ... etc. Have not heard a word since then. Tried a couple of emails recently and got nothing back. Is this normal? Thanks. Marty UPDATE!!! Out of the blue, I got a very nice email from Kent this morning. He apologized for the delay and let me know that my watch was finished! I am still put off by his lack of communication, but the watch does look nice
  9. I'm not sure if you can hammer nails with it, but mine has been used daily and still looks new. Put a protective screen saver own it and you should be fine.
  10. I'm not sure what is the point of this debate. You either like the iPad or you don't. You can buy it or not buy it. I love mine and yes, there are times when I still need to pull out my laptop, but I never bought the iPad to replace it. I'm at the beach for the Memorial Day weekend and it's been great ... everything that I expected it to be
  11. The site is back up. Would like to hear about the flaws on the 196. It looks pretty good to me
  12. Thanks. I would be nitpicking to find anything wrong with the design of this watch. It's that nice.
  13. I agree. As f'd up as the USPS is, I will take it over FedEx any day!
  14. I was going to get the rep, but I knew some of the flaws (no AR and the alignment of the "10" on the bezel) would set me crazy. I found this gen at a fair price and decided to go for it. So far, I love it. The case, which is 43 mm, hugs my 7.5" wrist nicely. Someone with a 7" or even smaller wrist could wear it with ease. The bracelet is well made and very comfortable. There are removable full and half links for adjustment, plus three additional adjustment holes in the clasp. There is also a diver's extension, which is very easy to use. The case and bracelet are flawlessly made with no sharp edges; something you rarely find with any rep. The crystal has AR on the inside only. It is effective and near colorless. The bezel turns with a satisfying click. It is easy to use, but will not move accidentally. The dial has a lot of detail. The hour markers are raised and trimmed in black to match the hands. The effect is similar to a white dial Explorer II. They contrast the silver dial well and look great. The ridges are very subtle and don't photograph well. They look more pronounced depending on the viewing angle and light source. It is a very nice effect. The applied 500m plaque (not sure what else to call it) which frames the date, is a very nice touch. It is brushed with a polished edge. I was unsure if I would like the date at nine, but even with the cyclops, you hardly notice it is there. The display back is nicely done and the Caliper 5 (ETA 2836-2 automatic) movement is well decorated. All in all, it is a great watch, which I believe will get a lot of wrist time. If I missed anything, feel free to ask. Marty
  15. You won't regret getting the 3G version. I love mine
  16. There was a blue one on TZ a couple of days ago at a very good price.
  17. Looks nice for the money. http://www.halioswatches.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=2
  18. Look at the second to last pic of the case back. http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=5080621&rid=560
  19. Have to agree. Send me the Heuer and I will find you a working movement. I'm not kidding
