  1. Nothing has been done yet, so I am in good shape. What is correct way to install the spacer? Thanks.
  2. I just got my 2393 from Andy, which is beautiful, by the way. The movement is going in a 1655. I have an issue with date wheel clearance. The enclosed spacer does not give me enough room to install the Rolex date overlay. Any thoughts on how to pick up the millimeter or two of height that I need would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Marty
  3. It's an old EL case with no strap cut outs. I used your run of the mill craft store lacquer ... nothing special

  5. I need a set of hands for a build. Should I look for DSN hands or something else? Are the hands from the various eBay sellers ok? Thanks. Marty
  6. I decided to document (somewhat) my 205A build. The FGD 205A dial was lumed with a mix of plaster of paris and NoctiLumina, which I tinted. It worked perfectly as it does not glow brightly and does not last very long. Just like tritium would be. At this point, the dial had not been sprayed with lacquer yet. For that matter, it probably wasn't even dry yet Now the dial is finished with two coats of lacquer. You really can't tell from the pic, but the lacquer does darken the lume, so go a shade lighter than what you want to end up with. Dial off to replace the cannon pin. New cannon pin polished and installed. Dial mounted to back plate and installed. Tinted hands ready to install. Sorry, went crazy with anticipation at this point and forgot to take more pics Finished product ... The case is a short lugged EL with no strap dimple. It has been drilled for Pre-V screws. The crystal is a replacement of unknown origin with no AR. The CG is a Nembo and the crown is from Tourby.
  7. Dial finished with two coats of lacquer.
  8. If the 116 doesn't work, try a 127 from Clark or a rep 127 from an MBW 1680. They need to be sanded down a bit to get the correct profile, but in my experience, they work great. Marty
  9. Had one recommendation, but was Humbrol Matt Hobby and Craft varnish, which is only available in the UK. What do you use? Thanks. Marty
  10. It has not been sprayed with lacquer yet. For that matter, it's probably not even dry yet
  11. One coat of matte varnish, shot in natural sunlight.
  12. Ok, this is a test dial. It has not been varnished. The color is a mix of tan/brown/yellow. It is slightly more tan looking in person. The base is white plaster of paris. There is lume mixed in. You get a faint green glow for a couple of minutes. I can adjust the color anyway; more tan, brown, yellow or ...
  13. This might be old news, but I found a great site for PAM pics. http://www.paneristi...25526&rnd=567.6
  14. I am looking for a nice strap in the $50 range. Something this color or a little darker, maybe with black stitching?
  15. Damn! I am not 100% sure, but I think you have all of the parts needed
  16. I tried to built the 1655 version of this watch. The project will set you crazy and you will end up broke. Why don't you find the best case available and buy a 2893 movement from FxrAndy? The end result won't be 100% accurate, but you will end up with a reliable watch and still have a couple of bucks in your pocket
  17. These cut like budda too When I did the lugs on my 1655 ... had the same result. You only need to run into one tough piece of steel to see the value of a drill press. I used to use a dremel to do these. The biggest problem with it, was that the dremel RPM's are way to high. You need 1500 max to cut through steel.
  18. I just love it when something goes as planned. It took 15 mins total. If anyone intends on doing this kind of work more than once, I would highly recommmend getting a table top drill press. It makes a world of difference. No drilling was necessary on the crown side.
  19. I am not sure of the origin of the donor watch/movement/date wheel that I have, but it is not wide enough to fill the date window on the Yuki 1655 dial. Marty
  20. The date wheel I have has a great font, but is too narrow. Any ideas? Thanks. Marty
  21. I drilled the lugs using my new toy Started to shape the CG's. Will finish them tomorrow and install a gen crown and tube (generously donated by my friend Justasgood).
  22. I somehow managed to get a bracelet clasp caught on a seat belt and as it retracted, I almost dislocated my shoulder. I really can't explain how it happened.
  23. Guys, I am sorry if I unleashed a $hit storm. Being the "OP" I certainly understand my own importance (or lack thereof) and my thread was funnier anyway Marty
