thanks. Over 30 grand in building the stang. Viper 6 speed trans, monster fuel system...the list of modifications is pages and pages long. It had traction issues. Had, because it blew its motor, then the shop that was rebuilding it screwed up the assembly and the new motor ate itself when they first started it up (didn't properly lube the cams, sheared cam gears, pistons into valves, general mayhem). It's currently in storage while my lawyer gets them to be responsible for their obvious errors. I may chose to part it out and then buy another finished one, which won't be less than 550hp at the tire. (21 psi is enough to get past 600hp at the rear wheels, and it had 400+pounds of torque off idle, sideways in any gear with a blip of the gas pedal even at 1500 RPM) When the Mustang build deadlocked, I got back into road racing motorcycles. I love it, but it has recently proven to be hazardous to my health... Ironically, my wife gets more irritated at me spending time at home reading watch forums than she does of me working on my bike or car. Go figure.

My favorite vehicle: 2003 Suzuki SV650 race bike. I just crashed at 100mph but am pretty much recovered (no broken bones). Currently I am driving on the street: My Mustang Cobra convert (supercharged, 21 psi on the dyno into a 281cc 32V V8) My wife daily drives a red 2003 Chrysler Pacifica AWD that I don't have a pic of (nothing special) I also have a 1972 GMC 3/4 ton truck that I use for hauling and errands...

I like it. Refined but not stuffy. I prefer the roman numerals version. I am probably going to buy a president with roman numerals, stainless band this month from one of the board suppliers...

good review. I have been thinking of a Cartier rep for a dress watch but have been leary of the fact that so many of them are quartz. Maybe that's a good thing, if the quartz movement is a decent one...

I am really thinking that a nato band would be really comfortable. Now I just have to figure out which watch to look at with a nato band...

That review was very informative; thank you for posting the link. So, it seems that the standard 7750 seconds at 6 is the best movement to buy. With regard to staying away from the movement because it is unreliable or can be unreliable, I presume this is relevant to Daytonas only or is it a comment about 7750s in other cases? When you say they are unreliable, how much danger is there in buying a 7750-powered Daytona? Is there a better movement to get? Context: I would like to buy a decent quality Daytona; not one that is a rediculous fake and not one that is a thousand dollar super rep. I am reading to try and understand what to look for and where to buy it.

so how smooth is the seconds hand on yours? Do you think the 29J 28800 version is overkill?

Good to know that it wasn't as good of a rep that I thought it was. I am sure I will grow to be more discerning over time. I have been surfing Perfect Clones site daily...probably too much. Is yours one of the new 28800 29J ones? My guess is that the standard 7750 versions they offer still have a fairly smooth sweep but I don't know since I haven't seen one in person.

Hello all. I am a relative newcomer to the site. I have had a Daytona rep for the last 2 years and it just stopped working. My guess is that it is an asian 17J or 21J since it doesn't have any type of working chronometer and beats about 3x per second. Overall cosmetically I don't think it is too bad of a rep but since I am new here, and am reading a lot, I have a lot left to learn. It recently stopped working and I am wondering if I should have another movement put in or just buy one of the newer 29J Daytonas from one of the site's preferred vendors. If I were to send it to someone to have the movement swapped out, who would you suggest? Thanks for any help in advance.

I am entertaining the idea of buying a Pro Hunter rep w/ a Swiss ETA or 7750, but have read that the black finish is not durable. Are there any reps that have a decent finish? I like black watches...
