  1. Very nice job, it looks great. Enjoy and wear in good health
  2. It looks like a good beginner watch, and appears to be something a new member could learn a lot from
  3. Here's a side profile shot of my big crown Nanuq. Correct bezel height of the gen 6538 is somewhat taller than that of the '36:
  4. I was talking about the bezel, not the insert
  5. Very nice! I've got a gen 6538 bezel if you might be interested JJ
  6. I think Stephane has been there...
  7. It doesn't surprise me, the quality of reps is so hit-or-miss. IMO, if you really like the piece you're better off just to ante up and buy the real thing
  8. Thanks for your kind comments everyone Sharkman, to answer your question: As far as I know, no one makes a rep of this piece.
  9. Here's another interesting snippet, from the Frederic Piguet website (using google translate): Caliber 610 PS FP 610 heures minutes, 6
  10. Two beautiful gens Both Cartier, although the first is certainly a change from all of the other pieces in my collection. While doing the research into this piece before acquiring it, I was lucky enough to find this article. My initial interest in this piece was fleeting at best, although that was before I read about the heart that beats within this particular watch. The Cartier Tank Basculante is unique in not only its reversible feature, but (quoting from the article), "it employs a movement that is nothing less than a Frederic Piguet caliber 6.10. A diminutive 6.5 lignes (15.2 millimeters) and 2.1 millimeters thick, the movement runs at 21,600 beats per hour in 21 jewels. While not the form movement we might have hoped for in a rectangular watch, the Piguet is nevertheless a first-class job, through and through. It is, for example, a much finer, much more sophisticated piece of work than Jaeger LeCoultre's basic Reverso movement, the caliber 846". The second piece is one which I have posted here before, and is a 1570 powered, double-name Oyster Perpetual Date. At a diminutive 34mm case diameter, by today's standards it is small for a man, yet perfectly acceptable as a womans watch. A gift to L this past Christmas, it looks great on her. When I compared the two side by side, the 1570 case is easily twice as thick as the 6.10's.
  11. A straight hand 1655, or for a few bucks more I'm considering a DRSD.... I've received PM's about selling my old MBW, and I will consider selling it, although full fledged frankens with multiple vintage gen parts don't come cheap
  12. I've still got one left, fully modded and put together by The Zigmeister with a 5512 dial and all the gen parts it should have. Now it's sitting in my watch box gathering dust, and I'm still not sure what I'll do with it
  13. Two great looking classics! How about some macros?
  14. FYI: "Vintage Rolex Sports Models" is probably the most incorrect book out there, and is better off lining the cat litter box than authenticating gens.
  15. Dial is totally different from the first one

  18. ...don't forget a gen T17, gen bezel, gen crown/tube, and of course, a proper bond strap
  19. Thought this was interesting, but geezus, 10 grand??? http://cgi.ebay.com/REF-3646-STYLE-TITANIUM-ROLEX-POCKET-WATCH-WRIST-WATCH_W0QQitemZ230414474445QQcmdZViewItemQQptZWristwatches?hash=item35a5c5dccd
  20. Lol K should know... ..it was his
  21. Thanks for posting up K, and Merry Christmas! The bracelet was the last piece, and one special aspect about it wasn't mentioned. Yes, it is a 7206 rivet, and yes, it has 80 endlinks and is the original '63 piece that came with this watch. However, what sets this bracelet apart from most 7206 is that it is the even rarer expansion link version. Notice in the pics how the links are tight together? Probably not the most popular option back in the day, because it tends to wear tighter around the wrist. Thanks everyone for your replies
  22. Maybe Justasgood could help us out.. Are you around today K?
  23. ..almost there Pre V (and thanks for the compliment!)
