    The Abyss

Very strange, yet frighteningly cool. I've gotta hand it to you pbdad, you've got one hellava imagination!
  2. Somebody got a great deal on a rare piece; hope it was someone here
  3. Great job T, looks like it was a fun project. I never was much of a gold guy either, until I built my TT, and then afterward found one rare gen gold piece after another and had to have them. I will admit, gold watches have a tendency to draw you in and change your mind once you have one. Good luck with it, and wear it well JJ PS, the next time you're in the big apple, we'll both have to wear our "color change" dials in the 5th Avenue sunlight
  4. Lol, Tara after a few drinks
  5. $7600??? He's out of his friggin mind
  6. Not a prob! I usually just wind them enough to get them started, usually 4 turns or so
  7. There is an entire section of this forum devoted to movement care, have you checked there yet??? You've been a member since '07 and aren't really a noob, so don't put yourself down
  8. Actually, it's kinda beat up. I think there's copper or brass or something starting to show through the worn bezel, and the insert is really old. Are you sure you want it???
  9. PS: this is for sale if someone wants to PM me an offer
  10. Thanks guys This is just an old beat up piece I had laying around, doesn't get much love anymore, so I figured it deserved some wrist time
  11. Haven't worn this one in a while, so I figured I'd pull it out of the watch box and wind it up a bit tonight...
  12. Congrats, very nice job freddy. Good luck with the rest of your project
  13. Here's a little tidbit of info most wouldn't guess: This unique piece uses the same crystal as the 6263 Daytona
  14. Probably for next to nothing. Lol, the seller doesn't even know what he has.
  15. For those who appreciate old school, this vintage "big case" gem is a rare find. This watch is a variation of its smaller cousin, the 34mm hand-wind Precision. The 6424 Precision has a 36mm case and 20mm lugs, blued second hand, and is a full size gentleman's watch. The seller even mistakenly advertises it as a 34mm watch. This will be a nice find for someone.
  16. I actually have one with a gen pearl that I may be persuaded into selling
  17. ..different mk bezel inserts, but not wrong for an early lv
  18. Great pics, not bad for a first time! Welcome aboard

    Au...

Thanks ubi. I'll admit this piece has been on my radar since day one, and I mean that literally. Years ago, before I ever heard of RWG1 (let alone a computer for that matter!), I bought an "automatic" rep day date on 34th St in NYC. Looking back, it was one of the cheapest reps ever, and came long before the rep quality improved to where it is now. However, I was a kid then, and thought the watch I bought was the best! Times have certainly changed since then, but I never forgot my first rep. Now I have the real thing Thanks Dizzy! I may keep it on the leather strap and 750 buckle for a while, although I am keeping my eyes open for a 18k rivet.
