  1. I have a perfect matte 5513 dial/meters first. PM me if you might be interested Cheers, JJ
  2. I think I may have seen that 5513 on ebay??? I recall seeing one like it, and what prompted me to remember is the incorrect dial, which is certainly not 1967 vintage. I would recommend searching for a correct dial. Other than that, it appears correct (I do love the insert!). Cheers, JJ PS: the crown is a trip-loc
  3. I agree, of course, with By-Tor. I would definitely recommend sending it to someone for refinishing (I know someone who is in US if you may be interested, PM me), or Michael Young does wonderful work as well. The least expensive option would be refinishing it yourself, and there are numerous write-ups here on RWG that are excellent. Another alternative would be finding a used bracelet either on the bay or one of the gen forums; however, I would always recommend trying to fix what you have and keeping it original. Plus, with the original bracelet, you wouldn't have to try to find another bracelet that had the correct date codes on the clasp.
  4. Got sick (finally) of wearing the "other" brand today, and dug out an old favorite from the watch box. Strapped on my fully done 082, and after having it on for a while, I realized how much I still like it. In fact... I'm seriously considering finding a gen. After all, IMO these have lots of collectible potential, besides looking great in the sunlight. Any other 082 fans out there? Cheers, JJ
  5. I'm pretty sure the case profiles were a different shape, although I'd have to confirm that in the book. Besides that, I believe the 6240's had a 722 movmt. Although this appears to be a good price for a fine looking piece, this is a trusted dealer and he would certainly know the value of a 6240 compared to a '63.
  6. Looks to be a good price for what appears to be a correct piece. Early pushers, 7020, and a folded bracelet. All it needs is a dome T21
  7. It appears from the video that the plane lost lift and fell, but hey, I could be wrong. Maybe it was a "mechanical" error
  8. From what I've seen, even frankens with "refinished" dials don't get removed as long as the seller states the facts within the description.

  10. Bt, back on subject... I think I have a love/hate thing going on when I look at your watch. Well, ok not really a hate thing but I do see room for constructive improvement that IMO would greatly enhance your custom piece. First of all, I really do love your watch, and I admire the thoughtfulness that went into building it. IMO, the 1030 movement is the icing on the cake. After all, if you're going to put a gen movement in a fake watch, lol, you might as well be honest about it. Although, when things are put into perspective, the movement certainly adds credibility to the watch. Almost like an aluminum 427 in a fake A/C Cobra (or, choose your real engine/kit car combo). Now, for the improvements, I would definitely have another dial and hands done by RG. I have seen him re-lume dials that vintage experts would swear were gen. Besides than that, nothing beats a gen 800 crown, and a gen rivet bracelet. Overall, the watch looks awesome. Congrats on a fine project, and wear it well.
  11. That certainly is a little gem. Thanks for posting up Mike. Here's a link to the full story, it almost makes me want to go out and buy one: http://www.perpetuelle.com/newsdetails.aspx?NewsId=139
  12. PS: Here's a link to the old post: The pictures are long gone, but interesting reading none-the-less.
  13. I had a decent one long ago. It was nice, old MBW bought from George, fully modded with gen parts, etc. Here's a pic of it that I took while having lunch with one of our more well-known members a couple summers ago across from the "falls" in Brooklyn. I've since sold it (if i recall correctly it should be in beautiful Hawaii right now) Good luck with your search, maybe you can find an old MBW, or, I still have a gen 5512 dial if yourself or anyone else might be seriously interested. Cheers, JJ
  14. Some good discussion here, thanks everyone for taking the time to read and to give some thought in your replies. Here's a couple posts regarding pretty much the same subject: The first is from TZ: http://forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=tree&goto=4844176&rid=0 The second discusses a "well known" member from a gen forum. From what I recall, he scammed his brother collectors out of thousands: http://www.network54.com/Forum/207593/thread/1258227522/Jason+Latif All in all, I agree that the feedback system was at least a step in the right direction. Other than that, more members should be encouraged to provide feedback after a sale.
  15. That was the first impression I got. CG's looked really chunky too, and the crown looks aftermarket. heh heh.. I like the rupees bph mvmt!

  17. For those interested in movement design, here is another class act: http://www.timezone.com/library/horologium/horologium631673932361754930 Only 2.1mm thick, this Piguet movement is definitely one of the thinnest.
  18. I completely understand your reasoning Fxr, and it is the exact same philosophy I followed until I realized how futile it was to invest what little money I had in reps. One thing is for sure, gens (especially box/papers) will always increase in value. Cheers, JJ
  19. Why not search for the real thing? I have a perfect early 16800 matte dial box/papers I might be willing to sell
  20. some people (for reasons I have yet to figure out) love collecting worthless paperwork and boxes
  21. ...never realized there were so many camels in Florida
