  1. Thanks guys I figured that I may as well get one. Although they are not especially rare, they are coveted, and will hopefully hold their value. Unless something very rare pops up at the right time, this will be it. If anyone is seriously interested in one of my pieces, shoot me a PM.
  2. Of course TJ! ..the funny thing is, I plan on selling my gens to get it. The frankens and nicely modded pams feel more like artwork and creations. Unless someone made me a serious offer for one of my frankens, I think they'll be staying with me
  3. Lol, more like something pretty expensive! I may be selling two "grails" + a few others to fund it.
  4. Thanks everyone who took the time to reply. At this point, I've got my sights set pretty high, and the only realistic way to get there is to sell off. I've got a box full of modded pams, and a box full of ultra frankens. Selling those will only bring a fraction of what I need, so most likely I'll be selling some of my major hitters.
  5. This idea has been on my mind lately, since I've been thinking of selling four or five pieces in order to fund something especially nice So, is this normal, or do most of you guys just add another to the corral?
  6. Yes; in fact, thank you for reminding me about this classic piece. I just wound mine up and gave it some wrist time
  7. ...brushed silver date wheels are service replacements
  8. Regarding the crystals, I have found that nothing beats the gen superdome. IMO the additional expense of adding a gen crystal is insignificant in comparison to the overall cost of a project. The self satisfaction of knowing the first thing I saw when I looked at any of my project watches was a genuine rolex part was always reason enough for me to buy gen crystals, inserts, crown/tubes, etc.
  9. Nice job, it looks great so far. If you're looking for a better insert, I've got a faded gen insert for sale now for cheap in the fs section JJ
  10. Perhaps a trade would be good... Ive got a mint 16660 that would probably be a fair trade with the watch as-is
  11. lol, I heard the same thing just happened to a certain actor!
  12. Thanks for posting MJ. I'll keep a look out for a set of WM9 V1 end links.
  13. Lol, actually I'm hoping that everything is shot except the dial and case...
  14. Thanks for posting up By-Tor. I guess I'll be looking for a WM9 V1 bracelet or endlinks.
  15. Hey K, wanna sell it? I'm definitely interested
  16. I'm looking to upgrade my current 16610 bracelet with a set of TW best solid end links. If anyone has a set laying around that they may not be using, or point me in the right direction where I can get the endlinks (or a full bracelet) I'd be grateful. Thanks for looking JJ
  17. Thanks guys! I've also got a franken WM9 16610 in the works, and hopefully I'll have that put together within the next couple weeks JJ
  18. Thanks Freddy! I know it's not like one of your 6542's, but building this one was a hell of a lot easier than trying to find a set of GMT gears for my 1030!
  19. Been tinkering around with one of my daily beaters, and finally got it to the point where I wouldn't be embarrassed to wear it. What started out as a WM9 TT has evolved very nicely. With the skilled help of my good friend RG, the watch now has a newly serviced swiss 2836-2 that came out of one of my early purchases. I can't remember exactly which watch the movement came out of, but I do know that it was from an old school MBW that I had modded a long time ago with a 1570 motor. Other than the swiss movement, the watch has a gen 18k bezel, a gen 18k crown and tube, a gen retainer ring, gen crystal gasket, a gen crystal, and a gen D series "flat 4 and open 5" superluminova insert that matches perfectly with the gen D series gilt dial (oval O, five tics, etc). Here's a few quick pics, enjoy:
  20. Fyi, cc cleaner didn't do a thing. That was the first thing I ran and it didn't help. I was running IE7, and I have since upgraded to IE8. Everything seems to be working fine now with IE8.
  21. Here's what it should look like when you're done. A gen gold crown and a gen 24-7030-8:
  22. B, it's a problem with the site. Using windows explorer, drop down boxes stayed down, and thread screens turned 90% black. Clearing the cache made no difference whatsoever. Try downloading google chrome, that seems to be working well with the site JJ
