  1. Don't waste your money, no matter what you do to it, it will still look fake.
  2. FYI guys, the T21 is incorrect profile for what you're trying to achieve
  3. Sorry freddy, I beg to differ on this one. Original silver datewheels where of the flatter "matte" variety. Service replacements were the brushed ones. The dial and silver datewheel on Nanuq's brown MkII are original and correct.
  4. Welcome aboard DB! This is a great place to learn, and is certainly addictive! Cheers, JJ
  5. Hi Donhin, welcome aboard. About thirty seconds using the search function found this
  6. heh heh.. wokky hmm... oops, no that's just the distortion from the tropic 17
  7. I was joking Diz. It's really not worth a dime to me. For someone desperate for a service replacement part for their DRSD maybe, but IMO even a beat up original that came with a watch is more worthwhile than replacing it with that. I got rid of a mint daytona for the same reason, and couldn't be happier since I replaced the piece with something a little more rare Actually, if I didn't already have my sights on another grail, I'd go for his underlined tiffany PS: Oops, I see it sold already... super rare! http://cgi.ebay.com/Rolex-Vintage-GMT-Master-1675-Tiffany-Co-Gilted-Dial-/110650030007?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item19c34177b7
  8. I'm sniping @ 4k in case someone here wants to go higher
  9. Only one choice: the Patek Phillipe Supercomplication
  10. Very nice watch! The milgauss is a unique piece, and IMO looks great with the lightning bolt second hand. I've had a few of these pieces over the years. Just in case you're looking to mod further, here's a very special dial I have posted FS, note the color variation in the vintage lume:
  11. True top-hat is a service replacement crystal for a 1680 only Hope this could be of help JJ
  12. I agree that the cost of these pieces is still very high. Only a few years ago, I let a floating cosmograph slip away when I hesitated @ 14k. I should have jumped on it! The silver 6265's are very nice, and IMO are well worth having in a collection if you can find one in mint original condition or with a rare dial. I had considered selling both of my hand winds to help fund a PN, but realized that my 6265 was rarer than my '63, so I'll definitely be keeping it. The all original '63 is on "pre-sale", and will go for sure to a serious buyer. Other than that, my 1530 Date, and maybe a few other pieces.
  13. IMO, hand winds are definitely the way to go, and will increase in value much faster than the newer automatics
  14. Thanks DR At 36mm, the size of the 1530 Date is pure classic Rolex. In fact, some of my very favorite pieces are just 34mm. Take this gilt chocolate Air King for example:
  15. Looks great Chi. Do you have any plans to lume the hands to match the dial?
  16. Hey Ken, nice watch. Chief and I were talking about gens. I'm not really up on the fake zenith daytona, but I think there may be a member or two here who might be able to help you with that.
  17. The lacquer has probably aged a little. You'll see that the tritium has definitely taken on a nice patina. I've read where some say these were all originally silver dials, while others argued that they were champagne. You could probably spend days on end researching these pieces, there's lots of info out there. All of the original dials that I've seen look like this one.
  18. I say go for it. If you choose to stay with a zenith, a nice step up may be a floating cosmograph, a patrizzi, or even a porcelain dial.
  19. Pre-sale to gauge interest here before it goes to TZ and VRF: Genuine 37 year old Rolex 1530 date, ultra rare in this condition, perfect in every way. For those members not familiar with this rare reference, here is a good link: http://www.oysterquartz.net/the_1530_&_1630.htm
  20. Gorgeous piece, love the "flat 4" !
  21. Been there, done that... The easiest thing to do is to find a gen 18k bezel. Below is a picture of my WM9 TT. The gen bezel snapped right on. Interference that prevents turning is caused by the insert rubbing against the top of the retainer ring. Because I did not wish to trim my gen insert, I trimmed the retainer ring until the bezel turned. Eventually I found a gen retainer ring and fixed it properly. It's got a gen dial, gen crystal, gen crown/tube, Swiss ETA 2836-2, BK datewheel, gen retainer ring, gen 18k bezel, and a gen insert. All in all it's not bad for a fake watch, and makes a nice beater. Good luck with your project, JJ
  22. Haven't worn this one in a while, and I saw it in the watch box tonight looking lonely. So, I wound it up a few turns and put it on. Vintage OCC love at its best, I know this is one piece I will never sell Post 'em up if ya got 'em, I would love to see the bubblebacks that other members own
