  1. I've heard rumors that you can also walk on water and divide by zero.
  2. The little boy is thinking "Man I wish I was older".
  3. Let me also add that it's been very informative observing who's closely watching this thread as it develops in the open. Yeah ... I see you down there at the bottom. You're on thin ice.
  4. Suffice to say that no one person has all the details about what happened with the attack. We had a major battle over this in the Admin group over 11 pages and 3 weeks' time. Some very serious words were said, we lost a long time valued member, which REALLY pisses me off, and in the end we decided, through gritted teeth, that we are not the international police for watch activities. Because a dealer is listed here, it does not imply our tacit endorsement. It means we tolerate them. The Sword of Damocles hangs over each one's head. When the "facts" are ambiguous, we can ban everyone remotely associated with it, or we can tell the involved parties that we know approximately what has happened, and we will not let that stench infect RWG. VERY strict warnings were given, and some people are on an extremely short leash. I'll leave this thread open awhile longer, because THIS IS WHY WE EXIST. To share information, good and bad. To out scammers and to support the good guys. If you see something you like, support it. If you see something you don't like, vote with your wallet. The dealers need us a heckuva lot more than we need them. 'Nuff said.
  5. Umm, let's see. There are 12 months in the year, summer lasts one week, so we have 14 months of winter. GOOD THING WE LOVE WINTER!!! PS: we got snow last week.
  6. Yeah, in winter this is what it looks like at NOON.
  7. Here is what I see outside my window at 11:30PM on Solstice. Hello Mister Moose!
  8. And with this photograph taken at midnight on Solstice, the long dark begins to draw nearer again.
  9. Isn't there supposed to be a beautiful woman wearing a flowing white dress on that balcony across from you, with a gentleman playing a mandolin beneath her?
  10. Regardless, thanks for the potential alert. That is why RWG exists.
  11. One man's trash is another man's treasure. http://www.shittyrolex.com/
  12. Out the window ... Mt. McKinley Out the door, Mister Moose Out the side windows, Wolverine Peak
  13. Hah! No kidding. For Fathers' Day I took my daughter to an outdoor hotrod show, full of classics and show pieces. We pulled into the lot in the Rover and they tried to direct me over to the area for the classic cars! I told them thanks, but I was just there to look at classics, not enter my old-timer. What a hoot! On the way home I got a chance for a little gnarly offroading and the old girl did GREAT. Even at 48 years old she's still got the moves. Now I need to see how she does running over watches. Think she can make it in 4WD?
  14. Dang Red, that's a gorgeous Snowflake! Tell me more about it!
  15. It was indeed, they called it "The Antichrist". My neighbor is from S. Africa and knows the people in that movie, and get this, he speaks Bushman. He hates newer Rovers but he's just happy as a clam at high tide that I picked up this one. So what is a "son of a Moluccan"?
  16. Roger that, Freddy. There's zero rust or cracking on the frame too. She still has the original muffler! I drover her down to the Turnagain Arm Pit for some BBQ tonight and with her new 33" tires and 16" rims she reads low. An indicated 47mph is 55mph by my GPS with my foot light on the throttle. Wow!! Couldn't be happier.
  17. Thanks gents! Ummmmm let's see: yes she's had a little over 1,000 miles each year since new, and spent almost all her life here in the arctic. She came with 7 boxes of parts, ALL paperwork and receipts, even back to the original letter of thanks from Land-Rover for the initial purchase. She's had much of her body work replaced so the new pieces are not yet painted red. One thing I need to do is re-cover the seats, the straw (yes, straw) is showing in two places. Oh, and Thogaa, where is the brake light switch on this one? I believe it's the hydraulic (not mechanical) switch but I CANNOT find the 5-way tubing junction at the RH wing. Now to come up with a name for her! I'm thinking Ol' Bumbershoot because she offers about as much protection from the elements as a leaky umbrella.
  18. I read that Synchron went to non-screwdown crowns when they took over. I rarely see a signed Doxa crown, so I think you've got a winner there.
  19. She's a 1963 Series IIa, completely rebuilt and drives like a champ! She even pulled the 12% grade up to the Mountain House in 3rd gear. 66,000 miles and plenty of life left in the old girl.
  20. Check it out here: http://www.ofrei.com/page_156.html Sterile, 6mm with press-fit tube. #60517
  21. Much better! I like it!
  22. Well I can't argue (much) with that. I have a SUB300 with the domed crystal that sports a pathetic little button crown. I've found a source for replacement tap-10 screwdown crowns and tubes, and one looks about right. Interested?
