  1. I think the change is "asia" was added before ETA.
  2. Seiko gold electroplate is SOLID. I had a two tone for about 10 years before the bezel or bracelet showed much scratching through the gold, and I'm hard on my watches.
  3. Too funny. I want to buy a PO right now too, and I'm scared to death of my wife. I'm trying to figure out whether to send it to work or just take it like a man. I'm not much of a liar.
  4. 1) Rolex Yachtmaster 2) Josh 3) No, I quickly learned that I'm not a Rolex guy. I feel much more comfortable wearing a fake $1200 watch than a fake $6000 watch.
  5. "@...what the [censored] does it matter what's inside....." 1) I've bought two "Swiss ETA" non-chrono watches from Josh, both very quiet. I bought one "Asian movement" auto, sounds like [censored] when the rotor even thinks about moving. 2) I'd like to think if a minor part in a real ETA goes bad I can get a replacment and the watch is not disposable. I don't care at all what country it is manufactured in, but standardized parts and quality sound/feel are worth extra money. If all of my reps sounded like my "Asian movement" I'd just stick with Seikos.
  6. I have been looking at 42MM POs (the 45 is just too big for me). Has anyone put a rubber strap on a PO? Is there an Omega rubber strap available?
  7. I got one of those 4 watch winders off of EBAY from the same guys. Piece of crap gets louder every day. I finally quit using it, it was so noisy I couldn't take it. I even tried to lube the motors, no help at all. My neighbor has one of the Sharper Image ones that rides on bearings, I'd guess with a belt turing the watch holder. It is quiet and works well.
  8. Thanks By-Tor (and the snow dog). Now I totally see what you are talking about, the date is trying to bust out of the window. I own the Swiss ETA-powered standard Link in white. Unbelievable rep. I am coveting the chrono now, but just can't part with $250 to get a watch so similar to the one I have. The standard is such a great watch to wear for work. No one would ever guess it is a rep, it is so understated but very classy. Thanks for your quick reply and such excellent info. Not surprising a RUSH fan would be so structured and organized.... I just got an ipod and am getting back into the classics like farewell to kings, permanent waves, hemispheres, etc. I'm also remembering how great Counterparts is. loving it.
  9. Great review. I noticed that some of the Link Chronos have the numbers on the bezel and some bezels are just brushed stainless, like the non-chrono bezels. Different prices too. Does anyone know if they are the same or different generation reps?
  10. If the grey link chrono was the group buy, I'd have trouble not jumping in.
  11. My neighbor has the gen grey. It is beautiful, I mean increadable.
  12. "Hey if you like it, who cares if it's fantasy! And I agree" That is why I bought the Vach Const version of this watch. No real one exists, but it is really cool looking, and I love it. Mine has a working reserve instead of the "day" dial. You'll notice that the date hand will not line up exactly. However, that is nitpicking for the price.
  13. I've got the same. My wife thought it was broken when she picked up the package and it sounded so bad. A local watchsmith oiled the rotor and it is definitely quieter, but still sounds pretty rough. Just make sure that the noise coincides with the movement of the rotor. You are luck to have a display back so you can monitor it. My watch is keeping great time and looks fantastic. It is the one with the retrograding date and fake turb.
  14. What is the title in iTunes? I just got an IPOD and still have no idea what I'm doing. Thanks
  15. TT and Pho: Thanks for jumping in on that, you are good men.
  16. I bought an ETA Yachtmaster with a white dial from Josh. I absolutely love the looks of the watch, but feel very self-consious wearing a "Rolex Yachtmaster". Can I substitute a dial made for a less well-known watch brand that will fit this watch? One with good lume would be very cool. I'd like to stick with a white or grey face to mimic the yachtmaster look. Also, please let me know how to source the part, and if it makes sense to get a local guy to do the work. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
  17. If you live in the US I don't think that you can buy the Seiko automatic dive watches retail. I got mine off EBAY from a good dealer. My orange monster was about $105 with shipping. Pug, you are killing me. Now I want that Seiko Sub looking watch as well as a black monster.
  18. I'm wearing a Seiko Orange Monster with a rubber strap right now. It gets more wrist time outside of the office than any of my reps. I wear it hiking, skiing, yard work, everything. Awesome watch!
  19. White non-chrono Tag from Josh. I love this watch, not pretentious, but classy and simple.
  20. Not too obscure at all. Mustaine is bitching about the big M and Pantera as we speak. Pete Best is crying.
  21. I thought music and drums stood still for a long time too, until my buddy started sending me newer metal bands' music. You won't hear it on the radio, but there are many stellar drummers coming out every day. There are many great newer drummers in thrash, death, speed, etc. metal types. Check out Lamb of God or Opeth. Primus had a great drummer too. You might hate the music, but the musicians are top notch.
  22. I got the same watch from Josh a couple of months ago. The bezel is loose, but not enough to rattle. It just moves easily and does not feel "quality" when it clicks. Otherwise the watch is beautiful, and since the bezel does not rattle, I'm fine with it not feeling so good when I turn it. I love the looks of the watch, but am thinking of getting rid of it because I feel funny wearing a rep $6K rolex. I prefer to wear a rep tag or omega that is not so far out of my realistic lifestyle. However, it is a beautiful piece.
  23. Zappa was a god, and nearly everyone that played for him was amazing, including Vinnie. I heard a good interview regarding Nicco McBrain. He would not use a double pedal to do Clive's parts, and struggled until he could do them with single pedals on the two drums. He thought double pedals were cheating, nothing a real drummer would do. Why no mentions of Bonzo? He was more interesting on three drums than most guys on monster sets, you just have to listen closer.
  24. "no one uses real double bass you would have to tune the 2 heads identical" On some of Portnoy's stuff he has to use two bass drums with double pedals. He claims that he plays so fast on a few songs that the drum head cannot respond fast enough with a single drum. I believe him. He will not play some songs with his single bass sets for that reason, from what I understand.
