  1. You've always been a simple minded foul-mouthed punk anyway. You and your buddies were bored on your site so you came here to stir up stuff. What new? I'll still be here when you leave.

Oh, and I'm certainly not your "mate". I wouldn't even consider it.

No need to take this out personal. I don't even recollect us having an interaction before....so how come you're judging me?

However, referring to this as 'fake' or 'replica' demonstrates naivete (or an anti-RWG agenda)

Freddy, I have nothing personal against you nor this board....I enjoy hanging out here

and I'm in regular contact with lots of considered members as well.

If you want we drop it....call it a gen then.

If you want to convince us disbelievers, just open a thread on VRF and tell your story ;)

    You'll get a 2nd, 3rd and 4rd opinion

  2. If the motor numbers do not match the original, but is still a Chevy engine, it is worth less but it is still a genuine 1960 Corvette, not a "fake ass" and worth only slightly less than the numbers matching car. freddy's watch is not a "fake ass" either. It is a genuine Rolex 6542 with a replacement insert and repainted dial. Just as stated from the start.

Mate you really don't get it do you?

freddy's watch is a fake 6542 made from genuine parts. Why? Because of the white painted dial it imitates something it isn't. Therefore a fake or replica.

No matter if the refinisher was Rolex certified...That's black market stuff and Rolex would never call that dial "genuine".

Moreover the refinisher would never do it officially or bye bye license. ;)

It seems like you fail to comprehend the definition of 'replication' or 'fake'.

  3. So, your smart-assed answer aside, you're saying that Rolex will service the DateJust that was altered with a custom dial?

Rolex SA Geneva wouldn't touch that hypothetical DateJust with a 10foot pole

  4. I don't think any 6542 watches are in warranty.

Would the Rolex factory service the DateJust with the custom dial?

Joey you don't get the difference.

Custom is not the same as imitating something existing.

The gen 6542 dial is printed to "look" like a white dial....which it isn't.....therefore it's a imitation/fake/replica/homage wtf you want to call it.

Printing 'Comex' on a 5512 dial doesn't make it a 'Comex' dial, but a imitation of it.

Writing 'JoeB is a smartass' on it, makes it a custom 5512 dial though. ;)

That's the big big big big big difference!

    B)

  5. I believe the point which people are making, is that even though the dial itself is genuine, even though it has been re-finished by someone who refinished dials for Rolex using Official Rolex inks ( very nice hook up, by the way :good: ) the fact that it was re-finished to customer specification (different to how the dial originally looked), rather than at the behest of Rolex, is what is preventing people from considering it as a 'gen' dial. I suspect that had the dial been scratched/water-damaged/crumbled lume, and restored to how it would have originally looked, then opinions may be different... Just my .2c, you already know I think the watch is awesome, and a totally unique piece of work in our community :drinks:

    Exactly my point.

A genuine damaged PN exotic 6263 dial gets refinished it still is a genuine PN exotic dial.

However refinishing a genuine silver dial 6263 to look like a PN, even by a Rolex authorized refinisher, doesn't make it a PN dial

    and therefore 10x more valuable,

Collectors wouldn't call it a gen PN dial either ;)

  6. Try this - It is a genuine 6542, but not an oem albino (or white dialed) 6542. Better?

    :D

I'm not nitpicking with you.....call it whatever you like and makes you feel good.

If it was up to me, you can call it 'The genuine holy Grail', 'Genuine Nessie' or 'The genuine magic bullet that shot JKF'

    ;)

  7. Only the uninformed or ignorant gen owners would think that. To the Rolex factory, authorized dealers, watchmakers, informed collectors and by the law the watch in a genuine Rolex 6542 with a service dial and replacement insert.

If freddy would take the watch to Rolex SA in Geneva they'd say:

" Hello Sir, nice fake ass watch you have there. "

    Don't fool yourself.

  8. Well, freddy believe what ever you like and makes you feel better. It's a very very nice and desirable watch.

Call it a Franken or gen or whatever, obviously you don't see the reasonable points mentioned by other members....for gen owners it will always be a fake ass watch.

For the obvious reason....It simply isn't a gen white dial 6542.
