Took a few shots this morning of 2 AP ROO's in the sun. Which do you like better Rose Gold or Silver?

AWESOME! -
Quartz is quite a step down not bad for the money but definitely not close to the real thing all parts are different
-
No worries on size they are the same different measuring point been discussed 100 times on this forum rep and gens have been compared face to face they are the exact same size believe a 2 mm difference would be huge and not many of us would buy the rep To the op great looking watch thanks for posting

Awesome review Thank you! Thought I was all set with my modded v3 now I am rethinking that -
Thanks for not buying this one.

Had and sold the same watch. Although I did not keep it, it was the best quality mens chronograph quartz rep I have ever seen. -
The straps seems like great quality, the dark brown color is very nice. I have a new gen strap now but previously had a well used one and it was the same dark coloring, so I believe the gen tan fades to a darker brown in time. The lug fitting might bother me a touch, but that is nit picking and overall it is a fantastic combo!!!

They will sell them at the AP boutiques no questions asked or watch needed but they are expensive over $500 If you get lucky occasionally one comes up for sale on these rep forums or timezone, eBay etc The seconds at 9 can be found with Swiss movement but don't think we will ever see a seconds at 12 Swiss offering This watch pictured was serviced by Rex and the reserve is amazing and is running great... so far
-
Those are cool, but my guess is with shipping and all they will still be more than most want to spend it repped. Saw some killer IWC Big Pilot dealer clocks on ebay recently, not sure if sold or for how much but they were cool.

Isn't a seconds at 6 chrono rep even less reliable than the seconds at 12 versions? I agree that version is a classier watch, but it is also quite a bit smaller I believe and the trend right now is for the bigger watches like the AP ROO. Either way there is definitely a market for the rep if the movement issue can be resolved.

Thanks Guys, yes the strap is a gen Audemars Piguet safari strap. I am still thinking of trying this combo with the bracelet as well but think the strap is a better match. Goodfellas: ps.. left you a message about a different matter hope all is well Sorry, been backed up a bit ; but will get back to you late today.

Made my own AP ROO model this weekend, what do you think?

Anyone relumed a Black Themes?
rogerthat replied to LegendofSpeed's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
I have a black rubberclad dial modded with SL and a White Thames modded with SL but no Black Thames. -
Your outrage is definitely shared and warranted given the price. In my view the problem is that in order to make the reps more accurate in the case of the seconds at 12, we have a factory installing modules to an overwise good movement. This extra step in my opinion is being done by non-watchsmiths and the result is what we see and really they all need a servicing unless you get real lucky. A regular Asian 7750 should be fine for a few years without a service but a modded one you never know.

Thanks Toad, I will give it another go tonight and try with the movement out of the case first. Watch is a real pain to not have the inner bezel move and keep the front aligned without securing the movement clamps before putting the stem in which complicates matters. Thanks for the clockwise turning tip, maybe that will get it aligned.
-
Removed a movement out of a 7750 watch last night, something I have done before but am not an expert on. Can't seem to get the stem back in now that I am putting it back together. Seems to go in easily with the small button pushed or not, but the stem is not operating properly. Instead of winding to tighten it turns the date for example, even though the stem will not pull out. Watch movement wheel starts going once I insert the stem, which is theory is a good sign? I know the stem is the correct length cuase it worked before I removed it, just want to know if there is a tell if I messed up something, or if I should just keep playing with position when reinserting the stem? The couple of other times I did this on other watches the stem going back in was pretty basic and never caused any problems. HELP.

I usually don't trust the dealers for servicing. Maybe they service it maybe they don't ; no way to tell and you pay an extra $120 Both Angus and Peter are in a sense sales reps of the same factory, it is not them doing any servicing or in most cases even ever touching your watch. They place an order at the factory and the factory then drop ships the watch to you. The factory lies to them, they pass along the lie. Or maybe not, maybe they really fully service it at the factory but that is the chance you would be taking.

Sorry for not checking my own posting often enough. Josh: the gen strap fit nice and tight with the rep endlinks, getting the rep screws in though was a chore. I had to use a screwdriver and even a small mallet to get them seated properly. Really wasn't that difficult. Thanks again for that smooth transaction. The lume on the gens is excellent on any of the versions with the greenish numbers: black rubberclad, white rubberclad, white thames The lume in the gens with the whiteish numbers is not nearly as good and many versions don't have any lume at all (safari, volcano, etc..) The rep lume is weaker for all versions, it is decent on the green number versions and poor on the white number versions. Depends how picky you are, they do look better if relumed.
-
Thank you! the RB is about the same size as the other Offshore models. Slightly larger cause of the pushers only. It is also lighter so it wears the same, cuase the case is titanium. The non-chrono grey dial is much smaller, more of a dress watch I definitely highly prefer the Chief AR on these watches, not sure the cyclops AR would be easy?
-
Picked up both of these recently and haven't had a chance to take pics until today. AP ROO RBII AP RO Grey Dial My other 2 AP's: AP ROO White Thames, gen hornback + The Zigmeister relume + chief AR AP ROO BlackRubberclad, rep bracelet (currently at Vac's for relume + chief AR) This is the only picture I have currently.
-
Can you source a genuine crystal? If not than no point in even discussing Get chief ar on the rep one and you are all set
-
Andrew resolved this very much to my satisfaction, just thought I would make that clear. Mistakes can happen but it is important to work with a dealer who will make it right when something goes wrong.
-
Just received this watch haven't yet removed the plastic wrap as it is for my wife Thank you for the recommendation this watch is extremely well made and looks great ; a real bargain for the price too My only complaint and it is kind of a big one to me is that I ordered the closed caseback and the watch I received has the open caseback! Would you email andrew and see if he would send the caseback if you were me or not bother?

Looks cool. How is the lume on the bezel? That seems like it would be the hardest parts for the rep factories. -
The gen 5002 dial was swapped onto my watch below by Sander. Gen strap too.
