Pams are getting most of the attention right now from the factories and most members Rolex forum though still going full steam but everything seems to be Pams or off topic Because the new reps are so good I caught the Pam bug again and have been quite active again I swore off Pam reps about 2 -3 years ago and now here I am again

Klockis did a comparison a while back, but I thought I would add this new post with photo comparison of a Gen Asso strap and a Rep Kurvasit Asso strap that I treated with leather conditioner to try and match the color of the gen. I also have a untreated Kurvasit asso and ordered one from Hont as well to compare.

Dealer Divergence Changing How I Buy a Rep
rogerthat replied to Watchmeister's topic in General Discussion
Good post, have to take any advise from a dealer with a grain of salt They are selling something, plenty of advise available on the forum with no agenda Clearly something is going on with angus being so pro n factory and josh and Andrew so pro h factory right now -
Sounds good glad I was wrong about that Seems there are so many super avenger reps in owners hands and on the sales boards that I would think the market is somewhat saturated with them For this reason repping a new watch model like the Avenger would make more sense to the factory? Hopefully they come out with both soon

It is a quartz chronograph so it will never be accurate or function like the gen

2010 sounds about right They were quite popular when they first came out you should be able to find some good info on those older threads No update / change to the rep since that product launch FYI Try maxi as your search word instead most of the time the brand name is just written UN here

The 40 mm ones are perfect for women Panerai even makes their straps in ladies length sizes There is a ladies jv oem strap fs on paneristi right now

Haven't heard that and seems like other watches would take priority the current super avenger is quite good More like a new avenger (no super) Which replaced the skyland

rogerthat replied to redwatch's topic in The Panerai Area
Love the ti case with the 399 dial and hands Would prefer the 390 caseback personally How long was the wait for the custom build? -
Today! Received a 380 from Trusty that is....awesome.

Looks great and nice strap combo! -
Not sure but it is an e series so they might not have used the brushes CG back then
-
I will look at that but worried about damaging the strap further Strap is genuine found the dealer listing of oem straps and buckles 27/20 Nubuck was sold for folding buckle (deployant) and also for ardillion buckle part pav00567 The ardillion buckle version at this size comes with the tiny holes apparently Since I likely won't find nor want to pay for a gen buckle and I don't think they rep those skinny Pam buckles, I will need to experiment with some different types of tang buckles I think
-
Nothing moving at all? Do you hear the rotor spinning when you shake? Did you try starting the chronos?
-
Somehow this new OEM JV strap I just picked up has tiny little holes compared to the standard shape and size holes. The problem is the tiny holes will not fit a standard Pam deployant nor a standard Pam buckle tongue. As you can see on the 2nd picture, there is some minor strap damage as a result of a previous owner using the standard Pam deployant on these tiny holes. Curious if anyone has seen this before. I assume I would in theory have 3 options: a.) have the holes re-punched to be the correct size/shape (could be very difficult to do and not damage the strap, I did reach out to Big Chief, a strap maker in the US and it was not something he could do) b.) buy a 20Mm tang buckle with a very thin tongue/pin ; Breitling style for example may work as I believe Breitling leather straps have small holes c.) buy some type of deployant that does not attach via holes, again I think Breitling style deployant's work in this manner. Guess I kind of know my options and can look at Panatime.com for these solutions just mainly curious if anyone has ever seen this before? And why would Panerai have made a strap like this in the first place???

The one valuable bit from this review is it does show how much quality in the reps have improved as of late A fair dealer comparison would be to order 3 of the same watch In this review the op bought 3 different watches for the same price from 3 different dealers The 1 that has the highest resale value due to movement the op rated the lowest Important to note that watch was repped about 7 years ago and has not been changed since The ballon bleu is maybe 2 years old and the other cartier less than 1 year Although the op doesnt believe it all websites sell the same variations as they are buying from the same factories

Watch Service A Good Add On From YourTrustyTime?
rogerthat replied to jay7's topic in General Discussion
I would not recommend it No real way to know if you are getting anything for 120 If you want your watch serviced send it to a trusted watchsmith may cost a bit more but you know the work paid for will be done -
Nice subs and strap combos as well
-
Yes very good input and it makes sense Watch is still too big for me though

How to Read Timegrapher Results
rogerthat replied to Adeodatus's topic in Technical and helpful information
Great post, thank you -
Movement depends on watch If you want a hublot big bang model the movement to look for is asian 7750 Better reps are about accuracy to the gen which doesn't always mean best value or reliability
-
Yeah from the trusted dealers you pay for what you get This watch has a cheap 21j movement instead of the a7750 movement Mineral crystal not sapphire, etc. Looks like a good buy for under 100 bucks but don't expect gen quality at that price point regardless of dealer
-
Amazed they bothered to rep this too Seems like demand would be much higher for other brands/models
