  1. Thanks guys.

I took alot of pride in putting it together myself. (to be honost that was most of the fun of it.)

Dan, this is the case said to have originated in Italy I mentioned awhile back.

Gen everything goes onto this as smooth as butter (3035 and case back too)

I tried a set of 593's I have and they fit as they should but one of the bar guides on one of the ends is missing and I don't have a 93150 Bracelet at the moment.

While the case is basically new and the bezel ring from 1986 is obviously "well used" and polished along the way I'm wondering if I should sort of bezel the edges a bit. ??

(tritium hands are obviously old and well used as well but the missing trit on the mins hands sorta gives it character to match the glossy-gone-matte dial)

opinions, suggestions and advice are more than welcome guys :)

....any suggestions on where to locate a rep 93150 good enough to mount gen ends and clasp. ??

  2. Finally finished.

All gen with the exception of the midcase and Bracelet.

(currently on a TC v2 93250 until a decent 93150 can be found to pair with gen NOS 593 ends and 93150 clasp.

And yes...per date era correct or not I just had to go with the new AR'd cyclop are crystal (comps to LondonGeorge)

Opinions from the experts and critics please.

  3. Here is the Phong case, and to tell you the truth id expect better from a 1.5k+ case... lug hole and non lug hole cases are the same. The sides look too smooth, the lugs look like a daytona case.

    Makes sense.

Phong specializes in the Daytonas and is very highly regarded when it comes to building them. :)

Great to hear the gen 93250 will fit the sean.

That's gonna be a helluva build brother.

GREAT thread here...thanks to all for sharing.

  4. seller has no feedback and yet the price is over 2k LoL

no box or papers either :bangin: :bangin:

It's afake and as dan_189 has already stated, it's not even a good one.

    But 2k starters for a TT 16613 ??

The seller would likely have gotten more interest starting at 4k.

Let's see if we can get this listing pulled. :)

  5. FANTASTIC THREAD, REVIEW AND COMPARISON.

Thanks watcher and thanks to all the "heavy hitting gurus" and resident experts for the priceless infomation.

    I agree.

This will open the market to gen owner replacements over the next decade.

(to date Rolex has pulled 312 parts accts here in the CONUS....at least that's what I've been told.

by someone I consider to be a very reliable source :( )

  6. I just don't understand how they can charge so much for a case that looks so crappy! So it has lugholes, BIG DEAL!!!

Some sell a case a like that for close to 900.00

Some sell one like that for under 200.00

It's all in the way it's marketed.

I guess if there's someone out there to buy cases like this one for that much before looking around there's always gonna be someone to sell it to them for that price.

But both Phong and his son, J&W and World_Time_Inc are GREAT guys to deal with.

Quick to answer questions and just as quick to offer a full refund. :)

  7. Go in to a pawn shop, find a model you like and ask them if they have any problem with your taking it into an AD to appraise and verify it as being authentic.

Leave your credit card with them as collateral.

Take it home, pop off the bezel and then take it into an AD for a replacement, explaining you had an accident that pulled the bezel off.

(many AD's have bezels, crystals and insert in stock and will install them for you.)

Go back home, swap out the bezels and then go back to the seller and give a reason why you're going to hold off on the purchase for now. (maybe the wife said "no".)

Or maybe then pull the crystal, take it in to a different AD and go through the motions again.

It'll likely eat an entire day and require some planning ahead but your efforts could net you the Brand New parts you're after at a fraction of the cost you'll pay for the used ones on the gray market :)

If you can even find used parts of what you're after.

    .............just a thought

Another thought would be to buy a gen, pull the parts you're after and sell the rest parted out.

(many still aren't convinced that's it's next to impossible to build a gen for less than you can buy one outright...and there's always someone looking for this and that.)

(this will take longer and initially cost more but it can be done.....and that's the thrill of the hobby for many of us...the thrill of the hunt and the acquisition. What's fun about buying a gen just to wear?)

  8. Flat 4 insert can be either tritium (16800 and 16610 up to around 1999) or luminova (1999-2000 dial SWISS and 2001-2003 SWISS MADE dial, SEL and lugholes cases)

From 2004 with no holes cases it's pointed 4 and lumi of course.

Service inserts are pointed 4 only

    Thanks Genzo....I didn't know that.

I've purchased literally dozens of gen 16800/16610 inserts and have been told more than once that they never used luminova on the pearls during the Flat 4 production runs.

Not sure who had asked about it here but if you recall mentioning the need of the gen luminova 16610 dial on or around Sept.5th....PM me.

I'm back in town for a couple weeks and will be listing a few gen dial, bezel rings, crystals rings, crowns, tubes...everything that still in the parts box that I'll likely never use. :)

  9. Both look great....but I'd put the correct crown on the 1680 either way.

I'd sell the 1680 (because of the plexi and bi-directional bezel) and use the money for a matte dialed 16800.
