  1. Duct Tape on fingers works wonders, experienced it by sanding down a Ceramic bezel
  2. Picture taken yesterday at 6:00 am in Austria and you are not looking at the sun right now
  3. Then it shall be 600 grit and by hand, now I know what I'm going to do this evening Thanks Chi and Cats!
  4. Thanks guys, then I'll sand the insert down. How did you do it? By hand, turning it on sandpaper or mounted on a drill to get a perfect round finish? Can't wait to get my 1655 from josh to finish this project
  5. Gen insert and wholesaleoutlet bezel assembly - The insert won't snap into the bezel, how should I enlarge the diameter of the bezel? (I'm not going to mod the insert) May the experts chime in please Thanks in advance Andei Here's the insert in question:
  6. Rolf, you have outdone yourself there. With the new 111 case this one is going to be a super rep!!!
  7. I wouldn't call it craftmanship, that's just frightfully clever! Skipping the crucial part of reproducing the teeth makes it cheaper and the parts have to be fitting as they are the originals... (where's the hats off smiley ) -Andei
  8. Awesome craftmanship there Mr. The Zigmeister! I wish I had the tools to produce such unique parts. Sadly you are not showing the production, as it would be really interesting how to cut the teeth on the hour wheel? -andei
  9. Wow, that's a great gesture Ubi!!! Fingers crossed that both above me say no This would be the right bezel for the beaten up gen dial to make an awesome franken rolex. Ubi all I can say is: :thumbsupsmileyanim:
  10. Thanks all! Which datewheel overlay would be correct for (big gmt arrow, pointy crownguards) this build and where do I get those?
  11. Thanks RA and Frank, I woun't let someone refinish my dials, I'm going to do it myself. Lume and "wasserfarben" are ready for vintage lume, tamiya clear matte coat is stocked up and the dremel is locked and loaded Sternkreuz 116 is ordered as well. What datewheel overlay should I use and where do I get one of those? Thanks in advance Andei
  12. Thanks Chi, I'll check once the case arrives... meanwhile there's a 5517 to finish...
  13. OK so I'm going to wait till all parts are in and keep this thread updated as I progress or fail on this project -Andei
  14. That means lathe-time if it woun't fit what's still not clear for me - would the gen dial be to big or to small for the standard 1675 rep case?
  15. I'll definitely relume the missing markers, but I'm not sure which dial I'm going to use, as the totally beaten up dial has such a nice vintage appeal, that I might use this one. which means I should transfer it from another rep?
  16. thanks Chi and Ubi, should I buy a bezel assembly from wholesaleoutlet or should I buy a cheapo 1675 rep and transfer the bezel construction(if the rep has the same 4 piece construction as Ubi mentioned) man I'm a total beginner regarding Rolex modding thanks
  17. thanks chiman, read that already somewhere and fortunately I bought a disassembled 1655 for 50$ recently A total mystery is still - how the bezel will fit on the 1655 case (there is no lip where the spring of the bezel get a hold on????) Now the 1655 bezel is a pressure fit with a casket which holds the crystal too, but how is this going to work with a turnable bezel? alot of questions again... thanks in advance Andei
  18. Thanks pete, I'm not sure what you mean A: is the dial to big for the case? B: is the case to big for the dial? thanks in advance Andei
  19. Hi fellas, the Rolex bug has bitten me, since I saw Rolexaddicts uberawesome 1675 builds. I've just bought two gen 1675 dials: What should I build with those two? Are those dials only suitable for a big arrow and pointed style crownguards build? please help a total rolex noob thanks in advance Andei
  20. @powershot - lovely lumeshot there decisions, decisions, decisions - maybe I should wear a Rolex instead
