Sounds great guys I need a good slate to start on so you guys agree that a white sub is best to start off with? Does that sub have the really large date window? Also what should I expect to pay for a good slate white submariner!! great info guys really learning a lot here on which approach I need to take
I have no expertise in the vintage area but am really wanting a 1680 sub and do not know really where to start. I would like to get one that's 1:1 so i can put gen parts on it. Any advice would be great especially recommendations on whome to get my 1680 from to begin with wantin to have it really aged and a lot of wear and tear shown on it so looking forward to the great advice!
I have a BK TW best on the way (with his new SL hands and dial of course ..) and the last one I had had terrible bezel issues such as sticky and rough turning bezel.. Just wondering would a gen or Clarks click spring make the next TW's bezel turn a lot smoother? Any one have different click spring in there TWs???
Just placed an order with BK for a TW Best since my last one got eaten by a parrot then fixed with crap parts...sold it off to a buddy now I am doing it right! I am getting this one with WM9 Dial and hands with SL Also looking for a gen crown and insert if anyone hears any thing... LMK and I wont hold out on you guys, will definitely post pics!
If you got a gen Date-Just dial lying around for a stainless model I would love to take it off your hands for a good price I am open minded on type of dial just thought I'd ask what my options are also? I hear people buy them for 30-50 bucks! if so I really want one! thanks
But are his watches that he advertises really are what they say they are? Such as TW best. Also I have seen his pics being the same as trusted dealer pics?
Well I need a Date-just for parts basically (2836-2 ETA, Crystal, Band, Bezel, and other various parts to finish some projects) I want the best quality datejust any recommendations!?!?! Pics if you have a product to show would be great! thanks!
I got a DJ build thats gonna rock some socks off as soon as it is done. everything will be gen on the head except ETA of course. and band I have the 16000 case and dial parts coming in very soon.
Just curious to know how exactly a GMT hand is supposed to work. I thought it also keeps up with the hour? yet the one on my explorer II seems to be tracking behind the hour hand at a lot slower pace then the regular hour hand? can someone clear this up?
I LOVE the older one but this one is ok. only thing that kills me for this watch is the GMT hand and all of the orange! but hey great watch though!! I have 2 explorer IIs on the way both 40mm both may be for sale soon one is new rehaut engravings other is lug holes no rehaut engraving.
Thought I would share this with you guys. This piece is the most sentimental watch I have to date, got it when I was 13...back in 2002 I joined your rep game Believe it or not this watch started off at the bottom of the barrel chinese typical rep. It started out with a 21J movement that only lasted 2 weeks. Cheap crystal with what they called a date-mag and a stainless plated crown! (come on you could have at least gave me a true stainless crown!!) After the movement broke I ended up doing a lot of research on the good and the bad with these watches and ended up ordering a 2836-2 Swiss ETA and that got installed with some new hands. years passed and the crystal finally started chipping away and my friend's grandpa had plenty of rolex parts lying around so he installed a genuine rolex crystal after slight mods (I sat there and watched him mod away for hours at this watch to get it to fit snug) and more years have passed and just recently swapped that brown faded crown to a genuine crown/tube set up which actually made it water resistant. my voyage of modding this watch will keep going until I feel it is done next on my final mods are genuine rolex dial I bought off ebay and polished oyster band. When it is done I will have another datejust build that I will of course post here so you guys can watch progress. So far I have a 16000 case on hold and need to source various parts.
