oh my oh my - when will it end!! I cannot keep buying watches - I am not going to live long enough to wear them all. I already have a crisis every morning trying to decide what I will wear that day!!! Put me down ( for a watch that is).
-
Come on guys - help me out here. I really need to know the numbers of Power reserve owners as soon as possible - this will not be repeated so if you miss out now then tough!!!

O.Frei does not sell Super Luminova, they sell a product made by Bergeon which is a luminous material but not the same. Super-Luminova is the trademark of a Japanese company and is manufactured under license by RC Tritec in Switzerland. Only problem with ordering from RC Tritec is that they do not accept credit cards so you have to pay with Bank transfer or better still pay with cash (Euros). The lady that you can speak to on the phone is called Elizabeth and speaks very good english and is very helpful. You need to order the standard 1gm of C3 powder and liquid kit which contains the powder, varnish/binder (this is what you mix the powder with in 1:1 quantity) and a "Dilutor" liquid which you mix to wet the lume mix or make it more runny. You will need a needle like instrument to apply it and a pair of loupes to work with - it is not simple and if you have never done it before you will not find it easy!!

For Those That Need Parts For The Eta 7753 Movement
Finepics replied to speedy1's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
No they don't - the power reserves use a 2892-A2 movt and that wheel is different from the 2893 wheel as I have just discovered. Anyone getting one of these wheels from me (for PAM 27/28) please read the 2893 datewheel post. -
SWISS ETA 7750 MOVEMENT ON EBAY ..
Finepics replied to 2005SUBMARINER's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
That's more like it and a good price too!! -
Houston we have a problem. I have just discovered that the Power reserve models (which are actually a 2892-A2 movt) have a different datewheel. This means that it will have to be a seperate rn for these so I need to know exactly how many of you have the PAM 27 and 28 models. It might be that these will be more expensive depending on the numbers as this means 2 lots of setup fees instead of one. Sorry chaps but that's the way it is. Please indicate if you have a PAM 27/28.

FIXING MISALIGNED SUBDIAL HAND ON 187!!
Finepics replied to leitztozeiss's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
On the honpo 187 the pushers are 2 piece but not with a floating connector in the movt spacer. The spacer and movt is removed easily just by letting it drop out from the opposite side to the psuhers complete with movt ring. Replacement is a reverse - tip the movt into the case - it will be obvious. No need to remove the pushers. Again in the honpo case the internal part of the pusher has a screwdriver slot whch allows the pusher to seperate and be removed from the case. -
Absolutely right - this is why I had to retrograde the 7753 into a 7750. I could not use the movt as a 7753 anyway because I trashed the date wheel in my early datewheel experiments so it was rendered useless for a watch with a date - so rather than sell it at a 7750 price I thought I might as well make use of it.
-
Actually if they can make it as a dummy it is not much for them to make it as a functional pusher. The date can be set the same as a 7750 anyway so it's not a massive deal for me - so long as it looks right. I will have another good look at it and see but I am certain its just decoration as it is certainly not blocked off by anything and just sits inside the edge of the case rather than protrude into the movt space..

SWISS ETA 7750 MOVEMENT ON EBAY ..
Finepics replied to 2005SUBMARINER's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I asked the seller why he advertised these as ETA when they were clearly an asian made movt. This was his reply: hi I don't advertise it is genuine swiss ETA movement. I mention only " ETA/Valjoux 7753 Caliber " . it mean ETA/Valjoux 7753 size. you know this movement have the same function and size to swiss ETA . you know now ETA become the movement standard. Anyway it is quality movement . I wear one chronograph watch with this movement every day. It run precise time. Don’t worry . you can try it. I have also a refund service for you if you are not satisfied of the product in any reason and will immediately refund your money to you upon the product return. Thank you very much & Keep in touch Have a Nice Day EDDIE -
SWISS ETA 7750 MOVEMENT ON EBAY ..
Finepics replied to 2005SUBMARINER's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
Sorry - this is totally an asian 7750. ETA never supply them with a dial attached for one thing. Also Genuine ETA movts come in a clear plastic case with a light blue insert and a white plastic winding crown. They have simple hands fitted. Also they do not have that crappy shiny brushed finish that the rep has. If you read the listing it says 7750 series then describes this as a 7753 - so there it is with the asian transfer gears as well. -
The quickest pusher on Honpo is a dummy I'm afraid and not blocked off. I have fitted a 7753 to my 187 but not as a 7753. I had to re-assemble it using the asian parts and tha asian transfer gears so it is now a 7750 with 7753 markings. The 7753 cannot be installed as it is because the date window in the dial is in the worng place.

HI Guys - thanks for the support. Dont worry - nearer the time I will take confirmed orders first. There should be enough to go round most I hope but a second run is easy to arrange if necessary - so in theory no-one should lose out on this. I just don't want to take money just yet until we see the results of the 7753 wheels which are definitely being printed this week.

Marco - that is beautiful - man!! Thanks a million.

For Those That Need Parts For The Eta 7753 Movement
Finepics replied to speedy1's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
The 7753 and 2893 are not the same at all. You have misunderstood what I said - all the datewheels have the same part number no matter what the movt - but that does not mean they are the same parts. It is essential when ordering to quote the movt number in front of the part number to identify the correct part. Interestingly there are 2 different datewheels for the 2893 and they both have the same part numbers although one of them (which is the ones in our 2893's) is shared by another movt but I can't remember which one. -
Just a quick update to bump this post back up - the datewheels are at the printers awaiting final artwork etc so I hope we will be looking at a delivery time of around 3 more weeks. I will be taking definite orders very shortly and apart from the ones reserved for me and Kruzer (who has helped on this so he gets priority) it will be a case of first come first served - there is a limited number but most of you should get a look in and if I sell out then a further run will be considered. As I mentioned before I will need payment in UK sterling (because of the bouncing dollar).

Very nice indeed Marco - and thanks for your help with my 616, much appreciated. That strap looks the business too - very nice.

What the [censored] is this - do you think that I live and breathe nothing but reps - [censored]!!! There is more to life. Do you know what - I work from 9am till 6pm - then a one hour journey home from work - have dinner - start doing watches at 8pm finish at 2am most days and weekends and you hassle me on an open topic. It might suprise you to know that rep watches are not the most important thing in my life - ask my GF how much time I have given her lately!! And this week I have had to work several hours overtime with difficult cases which means I have not got home until 9pm and then had my mobile phone nicked on Thursday so more [censored] getting that sorted out. And what pisses me off even more is that a couple of you have bitched about the piddly extra costs involved on the 7753 datewheel project - well [censored] off - I am not a charity nor a slave to the cause - my mobile phone bill last month was well over £200 which a lot of was due to making endless calls at peak rates chasing printers etc etc. Maybe I should just send your wheels back with a refund and you can print them yourselves. Most of you have no idea how much time and effort I have put into some of these projects, for very little gain other than a freebie of whatever it is I am doing. Archi - at least you understand, thanks for your comments.

Nearly all the watches I have had have a loose caseback on delivery - this is definitely the problem and the moisture you saw was your own sweaty wrist juice!!! Very very unlikely anything wrong with crystal as they are held in with an I ring just like the gens. Silicon grease (very light application) on the O ring then tighten down case back but don't force it. Problem solved.
-
The numbers simply mean the number of jewelled bearings in the movt. The difference between 15 and 17 jewels in relation to the Cortebert you have are with the centre wheel (the gold gear wheel in the centre) which in a 15j version will usually have a brass bearing in the top and bottom plates instead of a jewel. Do we know the cortebert will not fit the case you have sent me?

For Those That Need Parts For The Eta 7753 Movement
Finepics replied to speedy1's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
You can download a complete lube and parts chart for the 7750/7753 and most other mechanical movts direct from ETA's website in PDF. When ordering parts it is essential to quote the movt number then the part number as all similar parts have the same part number ie a datewheel is part # 2557 wether it's a 2893 or 7753. -
The quickset date pusher is a dummy on the current rep (but the date can be advanced using the intermediate crown position like a 7750). There is no cyclops on the gen or rep to worry about but I cannot understand the diffierent date font as the rep movt makers usually print the datewheel to suit the watch!! The 7753 wheel I am making will not fit the 7750 so no go there. I am happy to provide my art work if needed. Not sure what is wrong with the hands?
-
I'd be in but let me give a few pointers about my own 187 (which is now running a gen 7753 but re-configured back into a 7750 using some asian parts. I did this because the movt was no good as a 7753 as I had ruined the datewheel experimenting and they are unobtainable as a spare). It comes supplied with a crappy plastic movt ring that looks like it a bit of grey drainpipe cut off with a hacksaw - I am not kidding either. Some have not had movt clamp screws. The bezel markers are screwed on from underneath just like the gen and really annoyingly the bezel does not quite line up with the 12. Also mine came with the outer O ring missing although Ken did supply some new ones. With the price of the 7753 movt retailing at almost $500 it's not hard to see why this ugly brute would be selling aroound the $700 mark. The 196/188 did when they first appeared and i took a while before they came down the the $500 range.

Not every German was a Nazi - most were professional soldiers fighting a war to defend their homeland - whatever the politics!! And a great many allied military men had the highest respect for their axis counterparts and vice versa. These watches are as legitimate a piece of history as are the IWC's made for the Royal Air Force.
-
Could be my mistake. I have the rep 24 with 7750 and that has the 12 click bezel and is an A seies (so the bezel should be polished). This is a B series onward so has the brushed bezel with 15min markers. So either it's Gen or the asian movt rep!! I have the steel bracelet on mine without adapters - just a little tweaking here and there!!
