Well, I thought I should update everyone on my Minh situation where he sent me the wrong dial 2 times.. I had the option of getting a refund (after sending the 2 dials back) or taking a chance on a 3rd dial that he promised would be correct. I took a chance on the third dial only because I really really wanted a good 3-6-9 6538 dial. The dial came today and I have to say I don't think it's worth what he's charging but it is ok. The lume is not great but I like the gilt and the red depth is now raised paint. I guess if you are patient enough and willing to deal with the road bumps, he's not all that bad, just a very frustrating experience all in all. At least the dial is ok and useable now.

It's amazing to see it zoomed in like that. Yes I can see that the texture is very grainy, if Minh got that right, which it looks like he did, then the other minor flaws are even more forgivable. It's just after my recent dealings with him I would love if someone else could make one as good or better so that there's a second option for people

Oh, I didn't realize that the early PN's had that dial texture, cool. He did well then. I hate that Minh has the market cornered for these specific dials.. I emailed my new dial guy and he has a few PN's soon. I will post pics when I get them.

It's ok. I don't like the bottom of the subdials at 6 and 9, they look frayed.. The writing is too thick as well as on the minute track. The subdial numbers are placed slightly too far 'in' to the subdials. Also the actual dial background (the black part that the red minute track is printed on looks a bit strange, weird texture. I don't know how much this dial costs without seeing the back and a lower profile view but its all the same, there's always an issue or issues with rep PN dials. Horrible for a perfectionist like myself. My Minh dial was great but not perfect so I bought a gen non PN dial.. Edit: frayed part is bottom of subdial at 6 and side of subdial at 9

Great advice, collect all the parts and then send it to someone with experience. If you want to try your hand at assembling or disassembling buy a cheap rep and take it apart and try putting it back together.

That's a great read. I happen to agree that it's the lead dogs nose that should have counted and did. Awesome video, it reminded me of being a kid, playing with my brother and the family dog. Must be special for you since you grew up right there. I think people who grow up without winters are missing out on something really magical

How do you follow the race? Is there a website that keeps everyone updated?

I might sell one of them one of these days, but for now I'm having way too much fun. This is the dial for the next build. Have a phong case and gen 8mm crown. Im still looking for a gen bezel and 1030
-
Lol, you're the best!
-
Thank you! I'm almost done getting the parts together for a 4 liner 6538 build

I dint realize that until I opened my computer and saw it in full screen. I was on my iphone when I first saw it. I agree it's a little sloppy
-
I like that one, the lume was done well.
-
Thank you, It's actually a Minh case but very very close to phong's. The dial was custom made by a European re-finisher. I'm not sure what the ingod dial looks like maybe you can post a pic, a phong case deserves the best!
-
The 1030 is what that case was made for so a skilled watchmaker should be able to fit it in for you. The dial is very important, I can reccomend a good one based on your price range. Gl with it! This is what mine looks like

Gooooood to hear! The 6205 listed with the big crown is a lot better. Good value, I'd be very curious to see what you get for that money. Please post pics when you get it.
-
I looked on that site vinnie, the only 6538's are these two and they are far from accurate imo. There's actually so many things wrong I'm too lazy to list them all... But a pic is worth a thousand words, I hope the one you ordered was not one of these.
-
Phong's case is much better, although I do like the crystal on the other a lot more. A gen crown and better bezel and insert and a t-17 like the one on the other case, and you have a real winner!

Wait, lol, looks like they might be fake, there was a discussion already about these http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/130584-nos-6538-dials-55-in-total/

The box that keeps on giving!

I reccomend that you wait until the dealers have the better 6538 back in stock and that would be a better starting point. Member Daz can mod it for you once they become available again to make it way better. A bit off topic but I was reading an old thread from another forum where some dealer came across this box of goodies. There's really not much I wouldn't do for one of these dials let alone the entire box, wtf!?
